Is it important that you live near family? Yesish, although an hour is not very close IME. Just for me, if they're an hour away they might as well be 3 hours away. Even at 30 mins away, the benefits of being able to depend on someone to help in an emergency are really not there. The benefits of being able to visit them are, but we don't visit sooo much.
Do you live near family? Right now both sets of grandparents are 30 mins away as are almost all cousins. My sister lives with me, which is not exactly ideal but not exactly a problem.
If no, did you move away from them or did they move away from you? My parents did live 15 mins from me, and that was cool. They moved further away. At 15 mins away they could do emergency "my kid is sick" care etc. and that was really convenient. They also attended almost all sporting events etc.
What have other people in your immediate family grown up do? (Did your siblings move? Stay? Something else?) My sister lives with me and will allegedly move out in the fall. Again, we all live around here generally speaking.
Do you anticipate living near your children when they're grown? Yes I'd want to, but if they moved out of state I doubt I'd follow them (I know some people do that with their adult kids).
