DS’s MRI was today. They did not just email me results and tell me everything is okay... they called to schedule a phone appointment with the neurosurgeon.
k3am I hate that kind of waiting. Hope it’s at most “we want one more test for this .0009% thing”.
186momx - re test her annually. DD moved into GT in 4th grade. Also supplement from home. DD takes graphic novels and has been since 3rd so she can read when bored. She also helps her teacher a lot. Give her extra projects at home - DD does a lot of “projects”. It really does help for them to have an outlet and not rely on the school to provide it.
I met with a potential landlord this morning. He was late, asked me if I had filled out a background form (which he never sent me) and told me that he had rented the duplex last night. But the unit next door was going to be available on June 1. So I'm hoping he doesn't flake on me for the other duplex because it's the right price range, location and size. Rentals in my town are ridiculously high priced and don't last long on the market.
STBXH continues to be a jerk one day and nice the next. He met with another lawyer yesterday and it seems like the consultation with the first one that we both went to was a waste of money since he gave us bad info. I meet with my own lawyer on Tuesday. We're trying to reach an agreement about dividing finances on our own but I think he's being ridiculous. He thinks I owe him because he supported me for a few years while I was in college. But I out earned him for more years than he supported me, so IMO I don't owe him for that.

186momx , would her teacher let her go to the library and pick out books she wants to read in class or work on her own math work sheets? I can't remember what your DD is in to, but we tried this new math program for DS at home (Beast Academy) and he loves it.
I'm totally drowning (once again) at work. I also am not sleeping well due to the stress, so that's not helping. I've been quite short with the kids and feel bad. DS is really getting on my nerves too. I don't know how else to teach him to be kind. We model kindness, we praise/reward kind behaviour, but he is just not responding to any of that. He's not actively mean, but he is also not at all considerate of other people (mostly his sister) and seems excessively self-centered.
Thumb twiddling sucks. I’m assuming they want a call because with DD, there was nothing unusual with her brain (aside from that missing chunk), so an email report isn’t exactly complicated. With DS, we know he his brain is atypical so an email is VERY easy to misinterpret and a call is a better choice.
2chatter, we've started doing projects since I finished tax season. I just wish her teacher could give me a heads up on what they are doing in class so we could do projects on the same theme so it would tie together. traveltheworld, I will check out Beast Academy. We did Kahn Academy last fall for a while for math and DD enjoyed it.
I emailed the principle back and asked how we can solve the boredom problem and the "I don't want to go to school". I also asked why DD's friend M who is also in 2nd grade but different district same town is learning to multiple and divide and we are still adding to 10 and repeating the same time telling lessons as last year.
I know in my heart that DD isn't gifted but I do know that she is advance and the tests showed that. I guess I had my hopes up that being advanced would get her in the program so that she can learn at her own pace and it would force the teacher who want her to be inside the box to let her be outside the box.

Keep us posted. Everything is still crossed for the best boring results!
Early call. It’s remained stable.. Nothing to worry about, same advice as last time - steer him away from playing football, if he gets a concussion, he needs imaging. They don’t think we even need to go back for any future imaging unless he starts having other issues.
@supertrooper we hired a neutral CPA who specializes in divorce to help with all that. Totally worth the few hundred we spent to have someone else tell XH what made sense instead of it looking like I was the one dictating to him, even though I was the one who had done all the research.
xctsclrx, Usually yes, I would send the other. Otherwise I'm trying to entertain a healthy kid, deal with a sick kid, and usually hop online to get some work done too. I don't need a bored, totally fine kid around to add more work.
DD is in full graduation mode. She is counting down the days until graduation, finishing 2 projects, her classmates are getting in her nerves ect… She really only has 4 days left after today. Next Friday is a trip to an amusement park as a reading reward, the week after is class trip until Tuesday, field day Wednesday, and graduation Thursday.
It was super nice to have DH drive DD to the top of the driveway to wait for the bus this morning since it was raining while I continued to get ready.
xctsclrx, I send the healthy kid to daycare because I'm paying for it regardless and usually have my hands full with the sick kid and trying to work.
I'm finally out of the boot! My foot is still swelling up like a balloon and trying to get it under control. I currently only have one pair of shoes that I can fit it in. I started cryotherapy and it seems to be helping with the swelling.
twinmomma, mellym, okay good. I was kind of worried because DD had been exposed to DS, but didn't want to deal with a puking kid and a new crawler at the same time.
DDOT: I'm helping fix up our Mother's Room for all the new moms that are coming back from maternity leave and it is such a rewarding mini project to help with! I pumped for 9 months in a terrible public conference room that didn't lock or by kicking my male boss out of his office so that I could use it and had to fight to be able to keep it up with business travel in the mix. I'm so happy to work for a company that wants to set new moms up for pumping success with a beautiful, comfortable, private, useful space.
traveltheworld, my former direct report used to complain about our Mother's Room here.. because it was somehow "gross?" and an "embarassment" to her? It had the world's most comfortable recliner, a locking door, a desk and chair if you wanted to bring your laptop and work. The only part I found gross about it was that it was dirty... which I subsequently fixed with about 5 minutes of elbow grease and a request for the janitors to vacuum in there and empty the trash daily. I ended up buying a mini fridge and a heater for the room, and I wish I still had an excuse to go hang out by myself and watch TV on my kindle for an hour a day...
So my boss just came and asked what was the exact title of the promotion I had spoke about in my evaluation in December and how much of a pay grade was the difference (1 pay grade which is a 3% and then 5% in six months). I told her and then she just said ok. Ok...…? Good sign I suppose. At least they didn't forget.
twinmomma, I totally recommend adding a space heater, especially for winter. Because you're stripping down to some extent (honestly, I never wore anything nursing friendly to work so I usually ended up toppless and covered with a blanket) and being cold is for the bees.
And if your building says that space heaters are against building code, pull the code, because some of them have been updated to allow for space heaters provided they have anti-tip technology and automatic shutoff.
I received DD's screening back before we went on vacation. Basically she's fine for reading!! Hooray!! "At risk" for speech delays. I didn't expect that going in they would be testing for that, but we already knew about that delay and she's in speech twice a week for it. So I guess all is as well as can be expected on that front. That really gave me peace of mind, though.
Job B won’t negotiate on salary, but they came back with a signing bonus. He is still going to say no, but he is sad about it. He doesn’t see raises and positions for the future at that company. It’s the cool job rather than the practical. He said if I had a job in that state already he would consider it more, but it’s not like I would know what I could get in a 2 week timeframe obviously.
