Give me the remedy for back spasms, as I have never experienced this. I thought I was going to die coming in from the car after my workout and was stuck in the garage for six minutes that felt like three hours. Lower back just grabs on and it’s this intense, radiating pain. I have an appointment at Airrosti at 1:00 but first have to work and get DS to the surgeon at 10:45. I can walk until I suddenly can’t; sitting isn’t even comfortable.
The kids had to remove my shoes and socks so I could shower. I had to use a shoehorn to push my shorts down. This is unreal.
I haven't had really bad back spasms, but I do get lower back pain. Some yoga stretching such as childs pose seems to help. We have this mechanical foot and back massager, and out of desperation one day, I put it on my lower back for 15 minutes. It must have loosened up those muscles, because I haven't had an issue in a couple of months.
Bayer makes a back and muscle version that worked wonders when I tweaked my back while on vacation with the kids. Between that and some Bengay, I was able to power through.
ugh. I threw my back out 2 years ago, and sometimes I have spasms, Honestly not sitting in one place too long and trying to move as much as possible keeps it loose so it doesn't cramp. No advice for in the moment though.
My chiropractor always tells me to ice when I get these. If it doesn't hurt to stand/walk then do that. For me it is prolong sitting that causes them. Also look into stretches that stretch your psoas muscles. There is also a pressure point along your bikini line that will relieve it too. Muscle relaxers help even the homeopathic type which is what I take.
186momx , what kind of homeopathic muscle relaxers do you take? Since I am allergic to NSAIDs and apparently CBD oil (and possibly Tylenol), I need more ideas for treating things more naturally. Right now taking supplements, but I don't have anything for acute pain.
I may try those! Sprained back. The TFL release usually works on me for glute/lower back - my doctor told me I am still driving my legs with my back. Super frustrated. He did some fascial release, I am KT taped and am doing lacrosse ball exercises on a wall because I can’t get to the floor. I see him again Friday and Monday, which doesn’t make me think I am going to be okay super soon. He said it’s very hot, which is a bad sign, and to ice a lot.
My neighbor brought me wine. Tonight is our dinner swap so I pulled that off, and middle DD has been awesome and even DS helped. I tried to sit and was holding a glass of Prosecco and DD grabbed it knowing immediately why I was gritting my teeth and saying help - don’t help me sit - save my wine!! I haven’t had wine in weeks and it’s SO good.
Years ago I tore a muscle in an exercise class. Ever since my back is pretty sensitive to certain movement and will spasm if I do something it doesn't like. The only thing that helped was time and drugs. My doctor prescribed an anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxers. The muscle relaxers were the only thing that let me sleep. Hope you are feeling better today.
I had this happen to me right before Christmas in my traps. My back started to hurt and tighten up but I powered through to go to DD2's Christmas concert. The pain became so intense and I couldn't even move my head at the concert. Then, I started feeling nauseous and couldn't even speak because of the pain. My parents were there and made me go to the ER. They gave me heat and muscle relaxers along with a sprained back diagnosis. I'm still struggling with the back/neck pain due to poor posture and holding all my stress in my shoulders. Heat, muscle relaxers, Biofreeze, yoga stretching and back massages have helped me get through the worst of it.
There seems to be no quick fixes to hurting your back. I would expect it to be at least a week before you start to feel more like yourself. I usually feel better after my adjustments, electro deep tissue treatments, and heat/ice but then I'm stupid and go back to trying to be super-me and am miserable within a few hours. So don't be me and have a very laid back weekend. Also if you can get in the pool the weightlessness of being in the water always makes me feel better.
