Given any choice in the world, what would you choose?
Our house is currently under construction, so I don’t have photos and they aren’t going to put up the masonry for another week or so, however they want me to pick the paint colour for the door (ahhhh!). Here is the colour scheme for the house:
Red brick, black roof, taupe/grey siding and garage doors, and lots of pretty thick white trim.

We are a neighborhood of all red brick houses, and someone has a teal door that I love. I admire it every time I walk by. This is a similar pic online:
I like the dark teal idea. Also maybe like an emerald green? Or something between emerald and forest green? OOOOH or mint green. Yes, mint green. That’s my final answer.
Here is the only photo I have found of a full house with the brick. I don’t know if I am digging the lighter mint colour, since the red is pretty deep, but a deeper teal could work.
I did have the powder room at our current house painted BM Naples Blue and I loved it. We repainted it during a renovation and I’ve been sad ever since.

If you end up going teal, it has to be the right color teal or it looks off. The one above looks great! Also, white trim, never the color of the door. White trim all the way.

That’s why I was hoping the masonry would be up before I had to make a choice! I would definitely paint a big swatch and put it up against the brick if I could. The brick has been delivered to site but it is still in the pallets and unfortunately the clay inside is facing out, the side of the pallet with the actual brick face and colouring is all wrapped up. Hmmmm. I might have to get sneaky here.
I vote black. I think it might be hard to find the right teal with the siding, brick, trim, etc. I do like the idea of teal, though, if you love it and can find the right tone.
nicolewi I think my DH would love black but it doesn’t inspire me. Selling is also not on the horizon for 20+ years hopefully. I am drawn to dark purple but a next door neighbour in a light grey stone house has already done that and I don’t know if I want to copy. Hmmmmm.
aprilsails, I painted my front door what we thought would be a bright purple. We ended up with a door that I still can't tell you what color it actually looks like, but I like it. I think something similar would be nice against a red brick.
I was actually thinking of painting our deck chairs a bright mustard yellow. I don’t know if bright yellow really goes with the style of the doors. I think I’m too scared for that kind of commitment!
Haha that’s actually close to what I was imagining when I said something between forest green and emerald green. I love it and think it would look great with your brick.

DH mentioned the dark green as being a good idea today. However I think we are going to have our builder pull painting the door from the contract and instead we will have our painter do it afterwards. I’m too worried about picking the wrong colour before the brick is up. Our painter is great and will probably be far cheaper.
I will be sad the front door is just boring white when we first move in, but our painter is coming in the first week to do the master bathroom and possibly the two kids rooms as well.
