I’ve got a Lucas, which was in the top 50 when I named him in 2012 and has steadily risen since. I think this is the first year it’s in the top 10. Oh well? He’s 7, I don’t think I can trade it out now.
Lol that reminds me of this kid I went to grade school with, Jake. We were in 3rd or 4th grade and had a new sub. He told her “everyone calls me Jay.” Everyone was quick to inform the teacher that literally no one has ever called him that. So his attempt at changing at that age was not successful. Haha
“This kid”... did I miss something?!? Congratulations lady!! 😊😊
Ha! Whoops. Yes! I ventured over to GotP last week, but have stayed quiet elsewhere. 10.5 wks, EDD: 12/4. Genetic testing is scheduled for 5/17. Once we have that back (& if everything still looks good at our next appt), we’ll go more “public”.
I have a Stella which is now top 40, it was in the mid 60s the year she was born. My youngest is Poppy which broke into top 1000 the year she was born and is climbing quick - still not overly popular but it’s top 10 I think in the UK.
DSs name is 160ish, Elliott, but Elliot is 170ish so if you combine both rankings I’m sure it’s higher. DS middle name is James, which is much higher and I also didn’t realize when we picked that as his middle name that basically every other Elliott has the same middle name. I don’t run into Elliott’s often but when I do - their middle name has almost always been James, but I am finding James is a very common middle name. We used it because it’s my grandfathers name.
My daughter’s name, Mara, is in the 600s nationally. Yet we have run into so many Maras recently! We didn’t choose the name with the purpose of her being the only one, but we’ve found it strange there are so many around here with that name.
my daughter's best friend is named Mara! And I know an adult Mara too. But those are the only ones I know of other than yours!
I can’t believe Gretchen isn’t more popular especially when I look at all the names in the top 1000 that I’ve never heard of. There are famous people with that name!
I know two adult Gretchen's and one time we heard someone call their kid Gretchen in public, that's it, lol. I don't know why it's not more popular either.
Cora calls her "Gigi" since she can't really say Gretchen, lol.
For DD, DH really likes Evelyn, which is #10. My all-time favorite name is Emma, and I would use it without hesitation, but DH says it's too popular. Ummmm, the name you want to use is almost as popular! You have a coworker who just named their baby girl Evelyn! My other name choices are further down the list. I'm still convinced this baby will never have a name.
Emma is my favorite for a girl as well. I don’t care if it’s popular. The name has meaning to me as it was my grandma’s name. Hopefully you can get your DH to come around if that’s the name you really want to use.

DD1’s name (Esther) has slowly increased in popularity since her birth in 2013. It is now in the 160s, but it was closer to 300 back then.
What surprises me is that DD2’s name isn’t much more popular than DD1’s, even though it seems much more popular and she has often been in classes with other kids with her name. It’s in the 130s. It’s a variant of a top 10 name with a few possible spellings, and hers is one of the less popular ones (think Elisabeth for Elizabeth).

Our baby name is top 50 but I don’t meet many with his name. Actually have only met 1 kid. It is definitely not common over here in the Netherlands. The name I did love is top 10 so I’m glad we aren’t doing that one.
I feel like baby names are like cars. I never realized how many white, Acura MDXs there were on the road until I bought one. Similarly, I never knew a single Lillian/Lily until dd was born. Not that I thought it was rare, I just didn’t know anyone personally. Since she was born I have met at least 5.
My brother and I never made the list with well intentioned but very foreign names. Constantly butchered. It was very important to me that my kids had easy names and I'm glad they made the list.

My daughter's name was apparently all the rage in the 90s, and has fallen out of favor a bit more each year after that, but still surprisingly a top 100 name.
My name, OTOH, has not been a top 100 name since, and I'm not kidding here, 1951. So.

DS is in the top 10 (which surprises me), DD is in the top 100. I feel like DS's name was more popular when he was a baby around here anyway (he'll be 11 this week). I don't really care. My name is Jennifer and I was born in the 80s and I don't feel like it negatively impacted my life. Funnily enough my mom named me Jennifer to be different--everyone she knew was naming their little girl Amanda.

Apparently I jinxed myself, because we are now officially team PINK and I need to find a girl's name!!
I've been using the BabyName App. Man, there are a LOT of horrible names and misspellings of names to go through on that thing.
Some favs that I've come across that I haven't previously considered are Sloane, Isla, Hannah, Maren, and Rosamund. We have a Mc last name. I loved some other names (ex: Gemma), but it's to.. "M"-y with our last name. ha. I have no idea how we'll choose. Like I said, I always favored Elizabeth and Catherine. But now that it's not just pretend and I'm picking it for a real person, I don't think that I like Elizabeth anymore unless we'd definitely call her by a nickname (Because <3Eliza<3)
knx9211 there are some good options there. I think I might like Isla the best.
My list of girl names included Reese, Veda, Louisa, Nora, Mae, Kennedy, Caroline, Hailey, Quinn, June, Jolene, Sierra and Ramona. Not that you asked, lol.
DD1's name, Nola, has been slowly but steadily climbing up in popularity, from breaking into the top 1000 for the first time in 50 years the year she was born, to in the 600s now. Maybe by the time she's in high school she can find her name on a tourist trap key chain like the Emmas and the Sophias.
DD2, Lucy, is still holding strong at 51. It's funny; if she had been a boy her name would have been Leo, which is in a similar spot at 50.

Caroline was also on my list! And I LOVE Jolene and Mae and accidentally swiped the wrong way on the BabyName app when they came up. haha I've always liked Veda too, but we have a very close friend with a daughter Veda (and a Roslyn which I ALSO LOVE) so we're avoiding it.

One of these is my first name and the other my middle name.. which was supposed to be my first name. Ultimate 80s girl name! 😂

Too bad about Veda! H squashed that one so fast, but I love it (moot point, no more babies over here).

congrats! Sloane is one of my favorites, so that gets my vote!

Carolines are awesome! I have a Caroline and I think your son’s name is my top boy choice too lol. Does it start with a P?

Yes! Well, he’s James Patrick but he goes by Patrick.
