My feminist rage-o-meter would be in the orange range on this. I’d role play with my DD about how to say no (strong voice, hand out) coach her on what to do if the boy does it despite saying no (yell for a teacher) and tell the teacher to keep an eye on it and intervene when needed. Any efforts to brush it off as a cute “crush” by them would be dealt with by going to the director. At that age they should be teaching all of the kids about body autonomy.
Thank you. This was my train of thought but I’m so irritated that I wanted to see if I was overreacting. I about died when she told me that he likes it so that is why he kisses me. Umm no. You told him no. I guess it happened today at circle and the teacher did tell him no. It’s hard because they are actually buddies
I don't think your overreacting, this would have me really worked up. I would totally tell DD to get more assertive. Say NO louder, put your hand up to block him and really reinforce to her that we DO NOT have to give hugs and kisses if we don't want to and that she should not feel bad about it.
Anyone have Restoration Hardware baby furniture? We're getting DS's big boy room set up. He's not ready for a toddler bed yet but I want something that will look nice to convert. Their cribs also convert into full beds. I really like them but want to make sure they're good quality.
E1 did this, and E2 does it sometimes. Honestly, when E2 does it, he is usually working on a poop diaper/has gas. But E1 did outgrow it (can't remember when).
You can try nursing while walking around, shushing, bouncing gently, etc.
That’s what I do. It’s fine during the day, at night it’s a bit nuts. I was hoping it’s something he’d outgrow. He’s still so little.
Also, anything I can do for baby acne? It’s so humid here and I don’t want it to get worse.
My doctor actually had me put the tiniest little bit of Lotrimin on it - it cleared up IMMEDIATELY. I think I only had to put it on there once or twice. He described it as being baby acne, but maybe it was some other skin thing.
My 2 month old DS has stopped pooping frequently in the last week or so. He doesn’t poop overnight anymore which doesn’t concern me, but is only pooping once during the day. He started daycare full time this week since I went back to work and is only pooping once there and not at all at home. I’m used to him going 3 or 4 times a day so I’m concerned. Is this normal? He doesn’t seem uncomfortable or in pain but has been fussy this week during the day. Is it the change in his routine, maybe because he’s taking bottles all day now instead of being nurses? I just want him to be ok so feel free to talk me down.

It's normal and fantastic. 90% of our poops are at daycare and it's just lovely to only deal with weekend poops.

My 10 week old still has his hands clenched into fists 95% of the time, and he doesn’t reach for or bat at toys. He does put his hands in his mouth though. He looks at me, and smiles, but he doesn’t track objects with his eyes yet. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Normal! And we're pooping with less frequency in our house too, bless him.

My 9 week old is the same way and pedi says it’s totally normal.

I remember being SO alarmed when my son went from pooping multiple times a day to SUDDENLY just not, and pooping only once. I literally called the doctor, lol. They told me it would happen, but for some reason in my head I expected it to slowly ease from a million poops a day to one or two. But nope, it is just a sudden switch.

Regarding reaching for toys, we asked our pedi back when DD was a baby and she said 4mos for reaching for toys. It was like clockwork, right at 4mos she reached for a toy.

THANK GOD, lol.
I think this is what has thrown me off! I was expecting it slowly move from multiple times a day to maybe 2 or 3 but it kind of went from like 5 to 1. Yesterday he didn’t poop at all. 🤷🏻♀️

yup. My son went from like 4 or 5 a day to nothing for about 5 days. Then suddenly regular.

What age did you (if you already have) switched to a toddler bed? I really think dd would sleep in her crib indefinitely. She shows zero desire/attempts to climb out and she happily sleeps very contently. With that said, she’ll be 2yrs and 9mo when her sibling arrives (early December) so while I don’t want to rush her, it seems silly to buy a second crib.
The second option I guess is to wait until the baby is here, since they won’t use their crib for awhile, but I’d really prefer to have all furniture in the correct rooms before s/he arrives.
There is a boy in my dd preschool class (they are 4) who keeps kissing my dd at school. The teachers mentioned it last week and my dd has said it happened everyday since. I know it’s innocent but I’m a germaphobe and kissing on the lips freaks me out. We told my dd we don’t kiss friends at school. Say no. Say no thank you etc. She told me today that she said no thank you but he did it anyways. Anything suggestions on what I can do?

This this this. That would piss me off and I would be 100% teaching my daughter to say in a loud and clear voice "STOP TOUCHING ME. I SAID NO!" and would be a-ok with a physical reaction if it continued. I would go to the school.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

My five month-old DS went from pooping multiple times a day to now pooping just about every other day. They told me not to worry.

Oh man, this is tough. We switched to a toddler bed after she started climbing out, which coincided around the time DD2 was a few months old. And it was a tough transition. I think all of it stemmed from DD2 being born, so you may have luck doing it before #2 arrives. Plus if she doesn't climb out now, maybe she'll be less inclined to get up out of a regular bed.
We went through about 6 weeks of near 2 hour stall tactics every.single.night when she first switched to a bed.

22 months when we took the side off the crib. 25 months when we transitioned him fully to a twin bed. We were starting to TTC #2 and I wanted to remove all associations with the crib before the baby needed it.
I wouldn't purposefully transition right after baby is born, because then your older may see it as the baby "stealing" her crib. If you're going to do it, I would do it now.
I feel like a real dummy asking this, but how do you all bathe your toddlers in a regular bathtub? We still use that blue tub in our kitchen sink for DD ... even though she's almost 2 she's petite so she fits. But she keeps splashing around and turning on the faucet so I think it's way past time to phase out of the blue baby tub.
Do you just draw a regular shallow bath and pop them in? Put a larger toddler tub inside your regular tub?
Sometimes I just take her in the shower with me - MH will come get her and wrap her in the towel when she's done so I can finish showering - but our bathing times don't always sync up like that.

At 2 she can definitely just sit in the bathtub, assuming she doesn’t have any issues with balance/core strength. We ditched the baby tub around 8 months when they could sit up confidently on their own.

We also used the baby tub inside the regular tub for a really long time (until 26 months I think). Now we do a shallow bath in the regular tub and sometimes turn on the shower head at the end to rinse her off.

DD1 was in a crib until 3yr2m. My girls are only 16m apart so we had to buy the second crib anyways. I think you could make it to 3yrs old if you keep the new baby in your room for a bit? You could even put a bassinet in the baby room vs the crib if you want to stretch it out more. DD2 is staying in her crib for life.

We put the blue tub in the bath tub until a month or so ago, because we needed it for #2. We just fill the tub with a few inches and toss him in with some bath toys. Baths are like, 5 times as long now because we have to splash, roll, and play with the drain but it's easy.
hamster, we use baby probiotics in his milk once a day and it has made a difference. I subscribe to them with target.
clseale, I think about this a bit too, though we do not have the time crunch that you have. S, as big of a climber as he is, has never shown any interest in climbing out of his bed. He is still in a sleep sack and loves his crib. I feel like I have no reason to change it if he is doing well with it, right? But then all of our friends with kids his age (just about 2) are already in toddler beds?!?
mbcdefg we moved S to just a shallow bath around 6 months because he was basically already crawling and had good core strength. Prior to that we had him in the blue whale bath thing IN the tub. We fill it up about to his belly button and throw in some bubbles and toys and he could spend an hour in there. He loves it. Before we started swimming lessons he would go under water and swim on his belly and back in the big tub so now that he is in lessons (started at 21 months) he is ahead of the game. I would think for your kiddo at that age you can just tell them they are getting a new special surprise and plop her in with some toys. I bet at her age she will love it.

I think at 4 months, DH started taking a bath with E1. Just in the big bathtub. By like 7 or 8 months, E1 was taking a bath in the bathtub with no extra support. We just drew a shallow bath and let him play mostly. We had a bath mat in the tub to help with slipping. We really did not use the baby bath very long, and we never bathed in the sink or on the counter (other than the sponge bath before the cord fell off).

Ugh I have to ask my pedi about this. I feel SO BAD for P. He'll be sitting there pushing SO HARD and nothing happens. Or he'll get the tiniest little thing out. And then (often in the tub when he's relaxed), he'll shit a MAN SIZED TURD and cry SO HARD because it hurts to get out. I feel so terrible for him. I've been trying to get extra fiber, fruit, etc. in him and it doesn't seem to be working.

DD1 has poop problem as well. She's gotten to the point now that she actively holds it in because it hurts so much. At first we thought she was struggling to get it out and then realized she's actually clenching it in. It looked/sounded the same to us at first.
With the pedi's advice we now give her 3 doses of benefiber in her milk and water every day and have tried to seriously cut back the amount of dairy she gets and increase water. It's been months with very little progress. She still holds it in pretty frequently but at least now she is pooping every 3 or 4 days or so.

I’m starting to look into getting our 2 kids iPads. They’re in elementary. Neither H nor I have had an iPad and I’m so overwhelmed.
I’ve read a ton of threads on slickdeals where people debate the different models vs price and I just am hoping someone can recommend a specific model to me. Money is somewhat of a factor. Can I keep it under $400 each? With 2 kids it’s just SO expensive.
