I am SO TIRED of people driving in the bike lane. It happens on multiple roads, but there is one road we drive daily where people are just AWFUL about this. There is only one lane of traffic each way, but people constantly use the bike lane to pass on the right. And I don't drive crazy slow - 30-35mph in a 30mph zone, on a street with a lot of cars, stores, houses, pedestrians, and buses. Yesterday, someone zoomed around me on the right to run a red light. There's nothing I can do, unless I want to take the highway each day, which I don't.
I got my period last Sunday (9 days ago). My period usually lasts about 4 days with 1-2 days of spotting at the end. WHY AM I STILL SPOTTING? Like, fuck you body, this is really annoying.

I feel like crap today. We're on Day #3 of rain, so I have a headache, plus PMS cramps. I wish I could have worked from today, but I need to work from home on Friday, and Upper Management goes crazy if we do that more than once per week. Despite the fact that more than half of our new execs work remotely more than half the time.
For some reason I'm on a real streak of buying stuff (mostly online but also in person) and getting my hopes up and then it turns out to suck and I have to return it. Annoying because of the disappointment but also because of the inconvenience of returning stuff.
For example: Knix bra (I'm wearing it now to give it one more chance but it is for real too small) Betabrand yoga pants (shrunk in the wash so I can't even return them) ON Pixie pants (I'm actually keeping these because I can't seem to find any other black pants that I like but I don't really like these either) Sephora brand lipstick (long-wearing my ass) Make Up For Ever foundation and concealer (gave me a rash) some shoes from amazon (they turned out to be patent leather instead of regular but you can't tell from the pic)
We moved into a new house and I am not loving it. The floors creak, there's no good place to put our trash cans and dog bowls, and my little dog can't climb the stairs. Also it has a side-by-side refrigerator that I really hate, and I'm wondering if the buyer of our condo would complain if we swapped them.
My boss is completely over her job and just needs to quit because she's making everyone else's job harder.
She's legit worked 2 full work weeks this year. She's called in or left early at least once every other week so far. Last week she worked 1 day. She has FMLA for a situation but has not been quiet about the fact she's using that for unrelated things.
She's here today and was horribly rude on a meeting this morning with people from outside our office, to the point that the rest of us were basically just trying to talk over her by the end so the other team wouldn't hear her.

Our house looks like a trash heap and I just want to burn it down and start over.
I got a new phone last night (pixel 3xl), and I didn't realize that it doesn't have a traditional headphone jack. It came with headphones that plug into the usb-c port, but I left them at home. My office is so quiet today and I could really use some music.

Our new house has a French door fridge and I loathe it... want to trade??

Why do you hate it?
(we have a bare bones basic freezer on top fridge that i can't stand. The freezer top is chin height so i have to crouch to see anything and is way too small for a family. French doors have always appealed.
Hmm, our city caught shit for putting their new bike lanes inside the parking lane, but it sounds like this would at least prevent cars from using the one dedicated to bikes.

My mom is coming for a 4-day visit and I'm not really looking forward to the cleaning, the special meal accommodations, and the irritating "grandma comments." We're vegetarian and she's not, and she really doesn't "get" the kind of things we like to eat. I mean, I'm happy to cook what she likes, it's just the little sighs that we don't have things like a meat thermometer (why would we?), that she's not familiar with [insert any ethnic food], and top it off with a few unwelcome comments about my daughter's bodies or weight, and that's my weekend.
The company I work for was bought in January, but there haven’t really been any immediate changes yet. Well tomorrow is some announcement and I have a private phone conference with my direct boss and our head boss at the new company. I think this will go one of two ways: they will offer me a crappier job than what I have now, hoping that I’ll resign so they can replace me with someone cheaper or they’ll offer me something I actually want at the same pay but with more responsibility. It’s just my hunch because they’ve been super secret about what’s happening. I don’t really like either option so I updated my resume and started casually job searching to see what else is out there. I really don’t like all the uncertainty.
This week sucks. Monday 2.5 hour MRI. Today 4 hours at ophthalmology clinic for a 5 minute sign off with the consultant. Tomorrow is neurology clinic. And to top it off, I am coming down with a nasty cold. My nose aches. My head aches. I'm miserable.
Oh, and 2 of my team of 5 people are off sick at work today so I had to rush in here after the hospital to put out fires. I need to be home in bed.

I actually think having the parked cars provide a safety barrier for the bikes is a really good thing to increase safety for cyclists. Why were people critical of that?

I’m curious to see why someone dislikes it.
Our last rental before buying had a French door fridge and I loved it. A side by side conveyed with our house and I hate it so much. The freezer is too narrow to fit anything and the fridge is narrow and deep, so stuff ends up lost in the back, especially on the top shelf. I want a far far smaller French door fridge, like we used to have.

Right? IIRC from the opinion piece written by a bike group, shielding the bikers 'creates a false sense of security', and also that when the bikers emerge from behind the cars at intersections, the car drivers are surprised. IDK, you can never please everybody.
I just took over 2 clients from a coworker who got a new job. I also just found out that one of the clients has not had their social media ads running at all this month.
I'm so fucking sick of my coworker who does the ads. He dropped the ball (really, really badly) TWICE with another client's ads. I'm constantly having to check and double check and communicate to him and nag him and tell him to actually set up the ads PRIOR to when they are supposed to be running. Like, he used to set up April ads the first week of April, so we'd then have a hole where a client had no ads running. WTF. And yes, I get the sheets with the ad details set up and HIGHLIGHT anything new well in advance so he knows what to do.
Of course, he was out sick yesterday and is sick/working from home today, so I'll never be able to contact him. He doesn't really check email. He's also out sick approximately once every other week.
I suggested to my boss that we outsource this task, but I think he won't technically have a full work load if we do.
This coworker also has to sit with the production manager for like an hour each Friday to prioritize his tasks for the upcoming week. Yes, he is an adult. He's my age. Again I say: WTF.
Event organizers who think they are doing me a big favor by offering me “marketing opportunities” so I can provide free food to their attendees AND they won’t charge me anything to do it.

Interesting. It seems like you’ll never win, mostly because the US as a whole doesn’t care enough about moving away from cars to prioritize it.

Are you in Seattle? We have this set-up in some areas and it's bonkers. Some people's residential parking puts them in car and bike traffic, on either side of their parked car. I feel so awful for those who have kids.

My dog woke me up at 2:30 this morning by puking on the bedroom carpet. I'm certain it's just regular random dog barfing, but he didn't eat any breakfast so I'm a little worried about him (not a lot, since he's always a weird eater) and so, so tired.
MIL is going to be staying with us at the end of June for 5-6 days, instead of the 2-3 days she was originally thinking. So I'm annoyed by that because she is a high maintenance guest who is not self-reliant at all. Also annoyed at my H because in the year since her last visit, he has taken no initiative in completing any house projects (we bought about a year ago) so our place is can be more guest-friendly. He works way less office hours than I do, and should be more of a "Project Manager" than he is being. I have to push and plan for way more than half of the projects and it is driving me crazy.

It is a huge pain when you are trying to get into and out of parked cars. Instead of safely stepping onto a sidewalk, both side doors have to watch for traffic. You can't just open a door at the curb and unload the kids without worrying about being hit. Wait for a break. Grab the diaper bag and throw it to the curb. Wait for another break. race to get the toddler out of their seat before someone barrels down on you. Set them on the curb and wait for a break (and hope the toddler doesn't wander into traffic). Dive back for the baby.
At least around here, bicyclists are incredibly entitled and much less safe about pedestrians (or each other, or cars) than car drivers. I've never had a car barrel towards a kid (a toddler who is exactly where they belong) expecting the kid to run out of the way in time, but I've seen it multiple times with adult male cyclists.

I can see how it could get confusing, too, because people pull in and out of parking lots across the bike lane on this street. Still, it has to be overall safer than biking on the edge of a 4-lane street, right?
I'm in Portland, Maine, and they just put these lanes in last fall on a few busy streets downtown.

My parents are visiting from Europe. We haven't seen them in person for over a year and yet when they are staying at our house I am feeling so stressed. Yesterday they went for a walk. We didn't have a sim card for their phone yet, so we couldn't communicate. They were gone from 10:30 until after 3pm. I was worried sick that something had happened to them. But no, they were fine. Just hiked all over the neighborhood. It is great to have active parents, but they have no clue about the anxiety and stress I had.
We decided not to rent a car for them this time. So they drive DH's car because it is the same car as they drive at home. DH didn't tell me beforehand that he has to pay for parking if he doesn't take his own car. But it is still cheaper than renting a car for a month. I WFH so I don't need a car. But still, stress!
Yesterday I made dinner. Ribs with asparagus and cottage cheese. I was so busy dividing up the meat, I didn't see my DH didn't have any on his plate and he didn't say anything until AFTER! Nobody else noticed it either, so he didn't eat any meat. There were even two leftover pieces on a plate and he didn't grab them. I was so upset, because I didn't skip him intentionally. He is stressing out as well as my parents, especially my dad, are so demanding. They need to have their day planned out or else they won't have anything to do. I'll be glad when they go on their own trip next week. They'll be gone for 5 days, then we join them for Memorial Day weekend and then they'll be gone another 5 days. And then it's only another week at our house before they leave again. I love seeing them, but I love seeing them go .

Drivers here don't drive in bike lanes.
Hmmm, okay. That makes sense. It seems like as a society we make it really hard for cars, bikes, and pedestrians to safely coexist. I don’t know the answer, just that as a cyclist I’m terrified riding in the road and always wish for a physical barrier between me and the cars, but I’m also happy to work with pedestrians.
