I keep paper maps in my car. And I have a road atlas. I use the road atlas to show states to kiddo, and I really never use the paper maps, but I have them just in case. Kiddo and I took a road trip that had us driving through 5 states and I stopped at the ones where I didn’t already have maps and picked them up from the tourist booths. I was surprised they still print them to be honest.
But are they ADC MAPS? Cuz they're the real deal, friends.
Ha! All my maps are from AAA, because as a member you can/could get a free map of wherever. So I/my parents have a bunch of those. I think my dad even has a file drawer of them.
I don't even know what Slack is, and that made me feel old.
I went to a WordPress meet-up and they asked me if I wanted to "join their slack." Um, join your what? I've technically joined but haven't looked at it at all because I'm scared.

Mine are the ones you get at the tourist information center. I just replaced a 20 year old Maryland map when I realized it was missing a major highway I drive regularly.

This was my souvenir when I was a poor, college, road tripping kid. I had a map of every state I’d been through. H threw them away a few years ago, I was so pissed he tossed my VA map from they day I drove myself to college (1992). Sure, it was missing key roads (fairfax county parkway), but still. Nostalgia

When I first started working as an adult before Google Earth/maps was the monster it is, we had a licensed giant image file of the ADC maps for every county we worked in and used them for report figures. I miss them. We still have the paper books in the office and I have a 50 states ADC atlas in my car.
I took it to mean slack off. Like procrastination or goofing off I the internet.
It’s a messaging tool used by a lot of tech and media companies. For Gen Xers, think of it like an AOL chat room, but with your coworkers.
Lol I definitely answered that one wrong! I recently got an automatic download on my work computer and now every time someone on my team logs on I get a notification. I hate it!!!

You can change the notifications in the settings somewhere. I only get alerts for a DM or if someone mentions me in a Slack room.

I’m not even sure if that’s what it is. It showed up the same time as Skype for business, which I refuse to use! Thank god my department is all old biddies like me.

I bet it’s Microsoft Teams, not Slack. Especially if it’s integrated with Outlook.
They’re meant for the same purpose, but don’t judge Slack by Teams ... it’s like comparing Google and Bing, lol

It is just a group chat. There is nothing to be afraid of unless you are in my Comic Con slack group; it has a tendency to be a bit NSFW and inappropriate.

I was mostly being TIC. I'm mainly overwhelmed and am not sure I can deal with another thing to respond to/interact with. I'm sure I'll change my tune once I need help with something.

Aaand yeah, see in this way I'm totally a millennial ('83) because I love having the ability to message people at work. As I finally explained to my boss, ive been using various IM and chatroom platforms as a primary form of communication since I was 16. It feels totally natural to me to just have these little windows on my screen that let me talk to people. And when I'm talking to them ABOUT the other shit on my screen it just makes life easier.

The very first concert I ever went to unsupervised was Ani Defranco at an indie venue in downtown Portland. I thought I was so cool.
According to the quiz I am firmly Gen X which is true by DOB, but barely. My life experience was heavily influenced by being the youngest sibling and always wanting to do what they did. I do however know what slack is, but I use the email IM that is basically AOL IM because my co-workers are anti-technology.

I used to love AOL IM. I'm at the upper end of Gen X (1968) and have always tried to stay on top of technology which was very useful over the years (explaining things to peers in schools, for example). I don't work in an environ where I used any other IM type of thing but I couldn't live without Whatsapp at this point (part of so many groups).

Has anyone been listening to the new album by Rob Thomas (from Matchbox 20, which I would not count amough our great music 😂)? It is the most “OMG, middle age sucks!” thing ever! And yet, I can’t stop.

I am kind of feeling the “maybe I kind of get the midlife crisis thing now” feelings.

I still unapologetically love rob Thomas. I follow him on insta and was thinking that I would love to see him live. I’ll check out the album

It’s seriously been on repeat on my iPhone for 2 weeks. And I was walking around the office with it playing last week, which is really out of character for me, but they had carpet cleaners and fans blowing. Loudly
