Random but I asked my mom to bring up some of my old books. She also brought up 2 boxes of barbies/my little ponies. Do your kids play with barbies? I can’t think of a play date where there where barbies but I know they are a stable of my childhood.
I have three girls so we have tons of them but they don’t get nearly the playtime that my sisters and I had with them. I’d say they play with them once or twice a month.
My two girls do but they are older, 4 & 9. I don’t think the 4 year old would Play as much if it weren’t for the 9 year old and trying to be just like her.
BB is 3 and occasionally plays with her Elsa and Anna Barbie like dolls a few times a week. If they weren’t Frozen then I think she wouldn’t care since she also has a Moana one that she plays with maybe once a month if that.

DD is 8 and LOVES her Barbies. She has played with them for years. When she gets home from school (after hw) a good portion is either playing Barbies OR with her baby dolls. Her Barbies go everywhere. The snow, pool, bath, driveway.
She had a brief period of liking barbies around age 4-5. She was done after that.
She’s never been a toy person though. She is much more of an art/what can I create kind of person. Her AG dolls still get played with periodically but that’s about it.
I personally loved barbies and MLP. I played with both for probably far too long..
While I haven't bought any Barbies, my mom and neighbor have bought DD (3) several and they do get played with. Some are Disney Princesses and some are regular Barbies. They definitely get played with on the weekend. Less so on the weekdays, but that is true of all toys since we don't have much time for playing after daycare pick-up and dinner.

My dd likes the barbie playsets, but doesn't play with the actual dolls anymore. She has a lot of the dogs/puppies that came with various barbies, plus a bunch of other random dog figures, and she uses those with the playsets. She and ds did go through a phase of playing with the barbie dolls for a while, but it was pretty short lived. It probably would have been longer if I had more than 1 girl or dd had female playmates in the neighborhood, but it's all boys around here, and once they made fun of barbies, both kids were done with them.

Yes, both my 5 and 9 year old do. It goes in cycles though - they will play with them daily for awhile then not for a few weeks or months. Same with the AG dolls.
My sister and I had Barbies growing up, but she was way more into them than I was. Meanwhile I had a bunch of My Little Ponies and she didn't really play with those.
I also don't remember having baby dolls as a child. IDK if my sister had them either. We had a lot of stuffed animals. My DD loves baby dolls!
I'm 42 and my mother still gives me grief about never playing with dolls. She was very excited when DD played with Disney princess dolls, although she was never into Barbie. Now DD hates dolls. My mom thinks I purposely "turned" her. But I did not. I bought all kinds of princess stuff. She just decided she doesn't like it.
My 6 year old has some Disney princess barbies - but they aren't really barbie, it's people like Snow White, etc. She doesn't play with them much. She doesn't have regular barbies.
Yes, occasionally. She likes the Disney princess or ballet barbies best. She was handed down a barbie dream house so that's where the interest started.
DD got a mermaid Barbie doll for her birthday and she likes to bring in the tub when she bathes. That’s about it. She hasn’t shown any interest in getting more Barbie dolls.

My 5.5yo has a ton and plays with them occasionally, but not super regularly. My 23mo loooooooves them, maybe because she just loves anything that belongs to her sister.
I have boys and Barbie never took off (I tried lol). I lovvvvveeeedddddd Barbie and she and her friends were a huge staple of my play growing up. Anecdotally none of the friends I know who have girls have barbies. Like none.
It seems to me like toys are more focused on tv programming than they used to be. Like paw patrol is big so paw patrol has a million toys. I wonder if that is part of it.

I kind of want the Barista Ken Doll, complete with man bun.
My DD played with them when she was 3-5 years. They were not her favorite, but she liked to dress them and play with them outside. We had a bunch of princess ones, and some regular ones. She likes dolls in general.

Yes. A friend of hers had a few at 3, and she really liked playing with them. She got her first at Christmas at almost 4. now at 4 she has several and she has some of my old ones at my mom's house. Same goes for my little ponies. She was big into the ponies for a while but less so now. She does still play with them though, and sometimes we take them out of rotation for other toys. Barbies get played with almost daily so they stay out.
She usually either takes them on missions or does their hair. Doesn't really play house with them. 🤷♀️
No, my DD is 4 and doesn't play with barbies. She does have a Moana barbie-type doll, but doesn't play with it much at all. She plays with baby dolls, calico critters, her Daniel Tiger figures.
She did just recently get into My Little Ponies, though, and so I got her two for her birthday. I have asked my mom to see if any of mine are still kicking around in their basement. Yesterday Daniel Tiger and Katarina Kittycat were riding the ponies, ha!

I think it is. My daughter got way more interested in Barbie after I found it on Amazon prime to watch.
I got her Calico Critters for Christmas thinking she would love them because she liked playing with little animals but they kinda flopped. My mom says it's like she doesn't know what to do with them because she hasn't seen them on tv.
My 10 yo was never into them. She was and still is obsessed with American Girl. My 4 & 6 year olds play Barbie, though. Not like a top toy/all the time thing, but they have Barbie drawers in their room and get them out to play with. They have both princesses and regular Barbies.
ALL THE kids, however, like the bath Barbies. They really like those for the pool, bath, beach. We have some mermaids and some swimsuit Barbies. The only time my 8 YO DS uses them, though, seems to be as victims for sharks or similar.
