OMG this thread is not helping with my preconceived notion that 2nd babies come earlier. LOL
I have no relevant data to add, but DS1 was born at 38+6 (c-section because breech and low fluid at appt so we didn't make it to my scheduled one at 40w, but I wasn't in labor).
I'm hoping to deliver this one at 37+4 (the monday after my hair, nail and massage appts are over).
My doctor won't induce me.
Lol, yes. I have a massage appt Saturday. In my ideal world that kick starts my labor
Booo to no induction.
The worst part about no induction is that if he doesn’t come by 41 weeks they’ll do a c-section. I can also schedule a csection for 39 weeks so if I do t go into labor on my own I had 2 weeks of hell for nothing.
DS: went in to labor at 37 +1 born after 11 hours at 37+2 DD: 8.5 hour labor on her due date.
Since DS was nearly 3 weeks early I expected DD to be early as well which made those last 3 weeks seem like they took forever. She was born on the one day I wasn’t expecting her lol.
Ahhh, so exciting scm1011 !! My stats might make you feel better!
DD1: labor started at 40+1, born on 40+3 (seriously long ass labor and 4.5 hours of pushing) DD2: water broke at 38+0, contractions started 20 mins later, born 5 hours after water broke 😱
As my sister will tell you, I was in denial the baby could come early. I figured she’d be late and I’d have another long ass delivery. I was not at all prepared for her to shoot out after 3 contractions with pushing! Fingers crossed you have the same experience! Although I recommend heading right to the hospital. I waited 2 hours for my sister to get to my house to take care of DD1 and almost missed being able to get the epidural! That would have sucked!!!!!!

Ha, I ask this same question on the previous board 10 years ago, even made a spread sheet of the results, but can't find it now. My first was induced at 38 weeks SGA and IUGR (she wasn't just an unexpectedly tiny person for a giant me, and she was born tiny). My second, normal, no induction was 40 weeks + 5days. I will say, that the wait was worth it. My 40+ was a whole lot happier infant, than my 38 week baby.
I'm curious to see how things go for us...my water broke with AJ at 39w5d and he finally showed his face 29 hours later so 39w6d. My OB is requesting a 7/15 induction date for this baby so if we get that I'll be 39w5d. I'm hoping to schedule a pedi and prenatal massage for the weekend prior (7/15 is a Monday) to at least maybe make things more favorable.
My first was 38w3d. My second was 36w6d, but only because my BP was at a terrifying level and they had to induce. It ended up being a csection since an induction that early is not ideal.

No, but it is giving me tons of hope that second babies come faster! I don’t mind going past my due date again (I was 40+6), although I’d love not to, but I am really not up for another 40+ hr labor.
Wait there are doctors who won't induce? Ever? I'd rather find a way to pull my baby out of my own butt than ever be 42 weeks pregnant.
I think the only person I saw who say her doc wouldn’t induce was icedcoffee, who had a c-section with her first. Some docs won’t induce for a VBAC because of risk of uterine rupture. Some will induce with pitocin only. Nobody will use cervical ripeners because they increase the risk of rupture.

Yes this. It’s just because I’m trying for a VBAC. Womp womp.
My kids would have just stayed in the womb forever if we didn’t induce so I can’t help, but I am hoping she makes an appearance soon! The home stretch is both exciting and sucky.
I've only had one, but pretty sure this was my kid, too. My induction was started at 39+6. Despite having my membranes swept, I was fingertip dilated and not at all effaced when it started. The whole process took nearly 48 hours, and she just re-fucking-fused to come out.
Not to scare anyone, but even though it took longer from start to finish with DD1 vs. DD2 (36 hours at 41+5 vs. 27 hours at 40+4, both inductions with vaginal deliveries), DD2 actually took MUCH longer when I compare number of hours starting from the stage where I got an epidural and pitocin (I was barely dilated and effaced both times at that stage). DD2 was also the child who flipped breech right on her due date, so she really kept me on my toes those last four days. Silver lining - she was pretty much the best newborn ever. There is hope! Well, at least until toddlerhood because she's a pretty crazy toddler now.

Mine wouldn’t induce until 42 weeks unless there was a medical reason, which I didn’t have. It worked, but the last few weeks sucked.
Yes, this is my practice’s policy as well. It’s actually one of the reasons I picked them. In the end we DID have to induce at 40+4 due to heart decels & dd finally arrived (via vaginal delivery...another huge shout out to my practice) after 44 hrs @ 40+6,

Even though my kids were all over the place as far as when they arrived, labor got a lot faster each time! #1 was 19 hours, #2 was 12 hours, and #3 was 70 minutes start to finish! Recovery was easier with each subsequent birth as well.

DD was 39+5, 24 hours of labor, needed pitocin augmentation, 2 1/2 hours of pushing, needed vacuum extraction. Weighed 8lbs
DS was 38+5, 25 1/2 hours of labor after my water broke, needed pitocin augmentation, pushed for 5 contractions. Weighed 9 1/2 lbs
Apparently my body just likes for my water to break and then have contractions but not strong or in a normal pattern. So my labors are long and I need pitocin and then epidural, but thankfully the pushing part was way easier with DS even though he was so much larger.

GOOD GOD! Did you make it to the hospital?!
I fear having a baby on the parkway. DS wasnt quick coming out but he was sunny side up. If I had to only push a few times like other people, he would have been born within like 7 hours which feels fast for a first time delivery. Instead, I pushed for 3 hours with a one hour break added in there between the second and third hours. NOT FUN.
Also scared because even when fully dilated my contractions were not close together. So if I had waited at home til 4-5 minutes apart, I would’ve had my baby in the car. Or died. (Severe preeclampsia)

I think I fear this more than a repeat of my 40+ hr labor. When I pushed, I only pushed for 3 contractions. I can’t imagine pushing for even 1+ hrs. You poor thing!

Just barely. We fortunately live close to the hospital and went as soon as labor started because I was already 4 cm and overdue. By the time I was admitted, I was at 8 cm and she was born 15 minutes later. She basically plopped out on the bed as my OB came running into the room to catch her.
My OB warned me the entire pregnancy that third labors are unpredictable, so go in when things start. I'm glad she did. I can't have another kid for fear of not making it to the hospital in time.
