Busy weekend. DS has a party tonight for all of the officers, so I will be taking him and dropping him off. He is super excited about getting invited to his first officer party. I need to cook a real meal tonight (yay beans and red potatoes already in the crockpot) since we have been eating nothing but junk for a week. Plus get my house in some order - hoping DS mows the grass today. DH is working all weekend.
Saturday, I have a wedding I will go to by myself an hour away. I need to rush out after the wedding to make it to a friend's 40th birthday. She thankfully only lives about a mile. DS may have some boys over to play pool. I have no idea what DD is doing this weekend, she has been partying for a week straight with the end of school.
Sunday church and I really need to get my garden in the ground. Plus run both days.
My weekend is starting to open up. The kids were supposed to have track tonight and DD1 has a softball game tomorrow morning, but horrible behavior Wednesday night, yesterday, and this morning got all of her activities taken away. DD2 has tennis tomorrow morning.
DH and I are going to open up the pool. Seems strange since it’s 50° and raining today, but it’s going to very suddenly become summer, so we want to be ready. We also tried to get a sitter to go out, but no luck.

Yay Friday!
DS has a baseball game tonight. Saturday morning is open (I'm hoping to make it to the farmer's market), and then we have to go to a graduation open house for one of my cousins. Sunday is church in the morning and then DS is supposed to have a baseball scrimmage (although it's supposed to thunderstorm, so it may be canceled) and DD and I are going to see friends.

Today is an off day for me. I took the pup to the vet and I have a waxing appointment and then lunch and a swim with my parents. I love having every other Friday off. Usually I keep the little one with me but she has 3 days of preschool left. DD1 has 8 school days left of first grade. I can’t believe how fast this school year went.
Tomorrow morning we have all the things. H leaves for a conference first thing in the AM and won’t be back until Thursday night. We have dog training class and then run home, drop off the dog and across the street to swim. But after 2PM Saturday we have nothing planned. DD1 got a free pizza certificate for her grades from school so we may go out for pizza and then do at-home movie night. I promised to show off my shake making skills from my first job at a diner so milkshakes or orange freezes for everyone. Sunday I want to puppy proof the yard a bit (she is small enough to fit out of parts of the fence) and generally let the kids play and swim at home. Laundry, etc. I’ll cook a big meal to eat off of Monday and Tuesday.
My grandma passed away this morning. So far I've had to call into work, cancel girls night on Sat and find someone to work for me Sunday. Funeral and visitation Sunday. It's sad. She was 93 and had a good life.

I have to run errands tonight and then I have a date at my house. Saturday will be busy. Pedicure in the morning, niece's birthday party in the early afternoon, help set up for my class reunion and then my class reunion in the evening. Sunday is pretty much open, so that will be spent unpacking my new house. I'm tired of not being able to find anything.
My house goes on the market today! I hope it sells quickly.
I'm hosting a birthday party at a restaurant tomorrow night for two close friends who are turning 40. We're expecting 35-40 guests. By hosting I mean that I sent the invitations and am paying for dessert and 5 bottles of champagne. The two birthday girls and their husbands are paying for the rest of the drinks and food. We planned the menu with the restaurant and it came out as us spending 2/3 of the money on alcohol and 1/3 on food - seems about right I have lots of fun 40-themed decorations. One set of close friends (a couple and their 1-year-old) are flying in from Denver for the party, so we'll have dinner with them tonight and then I'll hang out with them tomorrow morning with 2 of my kids while DH takes DS1 to his last t-ball game and pizza afterparty. Then in the afternoon I get a blow out and the babysitter comes at 5 so I can go set up before everyone arrives starting at 7.
Sunday morning my mom is coming at 6:30 am so DH and I can both sleep in after our night out Then we'll just have a family day.
Thanks mustardseed2007! DH and I had a long walk yesterday and a good talk. He is still in shock. He was just told by his director on Monday to help liaise with other regional offices and re-write some policies, so he definitely didn't expect the sudden layoff. Me being me, I combed through job postings this morning; and so far, there are slim pickings. Unfortunately most of our professional connections are back in our old city, so that'd be tough too. BUT it's only day 1, so we are trying to stay upbeat.
Tomorrow is DS's party. I have a cake to decorate tonight, need to do most of the shopping still, and.. it's supposed to rain. So far, this storm has been a lot of clouds and a few sprinkles here and there, so we're optomistic that the bounce house is still an option, but I'm not holding my breath. For now, I'm chosing to use the Accuweather forecast that says it won't sprinkle until late afternoon (which is when the party is).
sdlaura - we did first round of drinks, champagne toast, heavy apps for my 40th party (dedicated private bar and deck area above the dance floor) and just alcohol amongst my friends was about 5k. You chose the wise path and capped by the bottle and a defined course! Everyone had their own tab but many of us ordered big rounds - the sticker shock at the end was crazy! But it was SO fun. Have such a great weekend!!
DD has a soccer tournament, after which tonight she’s going Whirlyball and then i pick up DH from BIL’s. I have to finish that slide show, I am spending Sunday afternoon at a resort’s pool section with sorority sisters, SD is staying with us but any time we ask her to do something helpful (watch the kids for an hour, walk up to walk the kids home, let the maid in) she suddenly has to be somewhere else. DH would flip if it was one of “our” kids behaving like this.
waverly - I’m so sorry and traveltheworld I hope things go surprisingly well and mommyatty safe travels and supertrooper1 get you some! Sounds like lots of good busy weekends coming and jealous of those with chill days today!
Wow 2chatter! How many people? The hosts are paying for everything for this party. The party venue is only licensed for beer and wine, so that limits the cost a bit. We have the space 7-11 but it’s in an area near bars, so our plan is to eat and drink the stuff we bought (I think we assumed 20 bottles of wine and 50 craft beers), likely by around 10, and then head to another bar where people can start their own tabs
I’m also in an airport on my way home. Had a fantastic but exhausting work trip with nearly zero down time and very little sleep. Excited to gain six hours back tomorrow and see my babies.
sdlaura - about 25 people? Not counting in laws etc because they didn’t stay late. That was from 7-2, and lots of top shelf liquor. Totally worth it in the end for one night!
So now I have decided to go to a friends to grill pizza tonight with DD. I will get nothing done with my house this weekend. Just like next. I'm going to have to pay DD next week for a thorough clean.
Tomorrow lift at the gym with the littlest one by 8 so H can mow the lawn and the 2 big ones can sleep in. 10 he will leave with the little and the oldest for fencing practice and Walmart run, while I take DD to her soccer game. Come home and put away grocery delivery, make food while little one naps (hopefully!!) . First communion at 4:15, then host a part for 28 at 6:30. Cousins will probably sleep over.
Sunday-NOTHING but hopefully a long trail run, maybe solo. H will take the kids so he can go to the gym. Then meal prep and stuff.
k3am blow it and play in the rain. Have lots of towels and I promise every kid will have a blast. Me who has attended many outdoor parties in the rain because PNW. Ps your back yard looks great.
We totally blew it up anyways. Sent out a message to everyone to bring dry clothes and let them have at it... those kids were SOAKING. We had a couple kids blow through their spare clothes as well, so the dryer was running nonstop.
A good time was had by all. This is the first time we let DS invite friends from school to anything, and he was in heaven.
mustardseed2007 - they yard was one of the top reasons we bought the house. Our backyard now is the size of the entire lot for our old house. We were way over budget on the house and I was so sold on the idea of hosting lots of home parties... it was sunny and nice for DS’s party last year, but it’s rained at all parties since. I’m pretty sure I singlehandedly ended the drought by planning outside parties.

I’m glad they had a good time, k3am. Happiest of birthdays to him! Also your yard is gorgeous.
I got unexpected stuff done today! I puppy proofed our yard with some chicken wire so she can’t get out the widely-spaces fence slats, which has the added bonus of no longer finding my neighbor chasing his dog around my backyard, spontaneously invited some friends to swim so the kids helped me get the house and patio straightened up, I ordered pizza and and then everyone got some good sun and exercise. Not bad for a weekend with no H. Sometimes unplanned Sundays are the best.
k3am, your backyard is so pretty! I think having the wet bouncy house sounds like a blast!
waverly, I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandmother. Losing someone is always hard, but I'm so glad she had a long life to experience so many great things. Hugs to you and your family.
k3am , I am glad the party was a hit. I always stress over everything being so perfect for their get togethers, and basically all I need to do is stay out of their way and they will have fun.
