I'm overthinking this, but my brain isn't fully functioning right now.
We use a pack and play for our basinette. The house is small, and only one story. We can do any combination of the following:
- Living room. Most space for it, and I can sleep relatively comfortably on the couch. Biggest pro is it's farthest from the bedrooms, particularly C's. Biggest con is H gets up at 530, but it's not like newborns sleep anyways. He is only taking one full week off, then working mornings only for a week or two. - Our bedroom. This requires moving and possibly removing furniture to get it to fit. Obviously disruptive H's sleep. He works a dangerous and mental heavy job, so I do prefer he stay somewhat well rested. This is what we did last time, but I was pumping so we all had to be up anyway. - Nowhere, just put baby in nursery crib. I could sleep in recliner or on a cot pad on the floor. I dont want the full cot in there because the room is too hard to move around otherwise.
We did move C to his own room around 8 weeks, and will likely do similar this time. I'll also be having a c section so if we go with option 3 I cant sleep on the floor for a couple of weeks. I recovered well and quickly last time. The current plan is that we will introduce a bottle around 2-3 weeks, and H will take the first feed to get me a chunk of sleep.

Option D. Your H gets a comfortable air mattress or cot in the baby’s room. You and the baby sleep in the bedroom. You all should get good sleep and you should get a bed after major surgery.

He suggested that but I'd still need to go in there for diaper and any wardrobe changes so it didnt make much sense to me.
We always had ours in the bedroom. With my first, it was ideal because it made nighttime feeds and diaper changes much easier.
As you know, with my son this time around it just didn’t work. I moved him to the crib at 6 weeks (posted about it here and got great advice/support) and it has been great. I thought I would hate actually getting up and walking down the hall in the middle of the night but it has been fine and I don’t mind it at all.

Can you bring that stuff into your room?
We just put the baby in his own room. I went in there to nurse, we took turns changing him and getting him back to sleep. Everyone slept in their own bed. But C was also a good sleeper, so it worked.

bring 3-4 diapers and an extra sheet and pj set/swaddle in your room in a basket. Hell no to you sleeping on the floor, cot or couch.

I’d just bring the diapering stuff into your room and change the baby on the bed.

Yep baby and baby motn stuff in your room, H elsewhere. I told H that this time as long as baby is in my room room getting up 2-4 times a night, he is sleeping in the basement (pull out bed). Not that we disturb his sleep, but it will be so much better for my sanity to not have to want to look over and want to smother him all night as he sleeps, blissfully unaware of the crying baby. He is so worthless at night and it infuriates me if I have to see it.

Solidarity! Ditto all of this. My H is a terrible sleeper....except when we have a newborn. Then he sleeps like the effing dead. 😡

Keep a basket of stuff in your room. Throw a towel on the bed. Change baby. That's what we did for ever. We have the PNP in our room now, with a changing station on it. E2 still sleeps in our room. DH aand E1 sleep on the extra bed in E2's room. (Don't ask me why E1 is not sleeping in his own room)
