DD turns 8 today. She doesn't want to. She says 7 was her lucky year which makes no sense as last year just seemed to be really hard overall. She took Otter Pops to school which is perfect at it is to be 98 today and the school has no AC and was still running the boiler yesterday when I dropped off a project.
I have to get my driver's license renewed tomorrow morning and have to get a new picture. I've been practicing my smile so I don't over-smile or look like I'm grimacing, lol.
Outlander is finally on Netflix (I refused to pay for a Starz subscription just to watch one show), so I started binge-watching it over the weekend. I'm a few episodes in to season 2.
We have had a rough few days with DD1. Her softball team is supposed to play in the championship game tonight, but due to her behavior, she isn’t going. DD2 is having a party tomorrow, and since DD1 doesn’t listen to me, I have to send her elsewhere. My father offered to take her a few days ago, but now he had made it clear that it will be difficult. So I’m scrambling for other options.
On the plus side, I had a great meeting with the principal today about DD1’s executive functioning issues and her neuropsych eval. She was very receptive, and said that they will make any accommodations necessary (within reason) to help her. They are hiring someone to start dealing with IEPs, etc - as a small private school, they’ve not had this position before.

I never smile in my driver's license picture. I assume if I get pulled over, I wont be smiling.
I'm going to have to have a talk with my employee who was giving me attitude last week. She's getting worse. I thought it might simmer down with time, but she literally isn't speaking to anyone on the team and is being purposely not helpful now. If I ask her a question, she purposely gives one word, belligerent answers. It is so obnoxious. I have 10,000 things my team has to pull off right now, all of which COULD make her look really great if she would stop tantruming long enough to see the end game. UGH.

Just found out my cat has lymphoma. We'll probably put him down later this week. He's older...15 years. Sucks though. This was my cat, I got him when I went to law school.
I am getting ready to take DD2 into the ENT in just a bit. I am praying that her ear tube is loose and they can just take it out in office like the did with the other one. Otherwise we have to schedule a "surgery" to have it removed which involved putting her under again and will cost me upwards of 7K. For a 7 minute procedure.

My coworker has convinced herself that our office is making her sick.
I had a very strange encounter on a dating app yesterday and today. I had been texting for a week or so with a guy who seemed very nice, former law enforcement that said he needed a change of scenery which I understand. I asked him for his last name because I said I wanted to do some research. He gave me his middle name instead, but I was able to find him through open source queries. When I confronted him that I had found his actual last name, he freaked, asking if I had found his arrest record too. Not horrible, but domestic violence and a driving offense. I actually hadn't made it that far, but he told me a crazy story about the DV, and it ended his law enforcement career. Things just went downhill during our texts today and I think he's crazy. Glad I didn't meet him!
Also, though, do they have to take her ear tubes out? DD just kept them in until they fell out.
Yes, they had to come out. But thankfully, it was kind of coming out a little and the Dr. just pulled it out right there in the office!! DD cried but it saved me 7k so I told her we can go to the store and buy ANYTHING she wants! lol!

Our office finally finished construction and my office-sharing situation has ended. I kind of feel like I'm starting out at a brand new job again - which is weird. I need to decorate this mofo.
I feel like I am drowning. Work is insanely busy right now. End is in sight about 1.5 months way, but DH is OOT until July. I wake up at 530 get kids ready get them to DC and myself to work by 7. Don't take a lunch. Work until 4 pick them up home around 5. Take care if them until 7. Work from 7-10 and I am barely keeping afloat and I don't get any gym time right now.
Working 60 hour weeks is taking it's toll and doing with DH gone really sucks.

Totally random - but these new math books that I ordered for DS finally arrived and he was soooo excited. He read through and then spent the rest of the night doing the questions. I had to force him to go to bed. Then right before bed he told me how much he loves the books and gave me the biggest hug. It made my heart happy.
Our board voted on a 3% raise last night. This is a pretty big deal, because we are facing some financial hurdles out of our control, but the board decided that we have set ourselves up well to overcome them and still give employees a raise. I technically have passed up DH on pay, but he works more hours than me, so on the year, he is still a few thousand more.

My parents took the kids M-Th this week. Most years when they’ve taken them for more than a night there have been struggles but 4 and 7 seem to be the magic ages and everyone is having a great time at “gram camp.”
Per my mom, they sack out and night, don’t wake up until morning and haven’t been fighting. I think she has someone else’s kids.
Yesterday they went roller skating. I’ve taken the girls twice but I wouldn’t say they know how to roller skate but evidently after some time in the practice rink with my dad (who has a real talent for teaching kids), they can. On the downside, my mom ate rink after two minutes. “You really do forget things when you get old! I forgot how to skate.” She spent the rest of the time fetching drinks and pizza and assisting random kids (there were 3 summer camps there) with the laces on their skates. That’s my mom, a grumpy, chain-smoking introvert who rarely leaves the house without my dad or one of her kids, yet who is somehow also grandma to the world.
supertrooper1 - glad you didn’t meet the crazy guy!! A friend met a guy who stole/bought medals and impersonated a decorated soldier - I can’t remember the details, but it was all over the news and very searchable - this guy did actual prison time for it.
k3am, I'll 2nd your vent about weather. Outdoor graduation Friday was cold barely 60 and threatening rain. The kids who graduate last night had 98 degrees and no wind. It is not even 9am here and it is already 77. At least they are saying 80s by the weekend. We don't get triple digit heat waves in June, Mother Nature. Oh and fire danger went sky high too.

Another random related to the first: now that we've moved offices there is a new woman across the hall from me. She's lovely, polite, kind - a wonderful human being. But for some damn reason I cannot stand her voice. I want to throw her out our 8th floor window when I hear her speak. Apparently super-polite, overly nice (almost submissive) voices with strong southern drawls drive me BSC. Her drawl is so strong that it feels like a rubber band snapping in my face. I'm either going to have to put earphones in or buy a noise machine BECAUSE I CAN'T HANDLE IT. Maybe I could convince her to put her desk against a wall instead of facing the door. There has to be a super subtle tactful way to do that, I'm sure...
I’m from the south. I have no issues with drawls. Hell, when I’m drunk I have one. But the syrupy sweet tea southern drawl makes me want to stab someone. My grandma called that “a tacky waitress at a diner voice”.
I had a dream that DH introduced me to his girlfriend. I bounced between the same feelings as mommyatty. Adulting is hard, y’all.
Also, thank you to whoever mentioned Outlander. I read the series when DD was a baby and Jamie does not disappoint...I just finished two slides I was stuck on. Who knew man candy would unlock my brain??

2chatter, that was me that mentioned Outlander. They definitely picked the perfect Jamie for the show. Now I'm contemplating getting the 3-month subscription to Starz ($5/mo for 3 months) so I can watch seasons 3 and 4, since they aren't on Netflix. I don't think I can waiting for Netflix to decide if they'll add it!

Outlander is on Netflix!?! What??? Queuing up Netflix RN!!

Same here. I was surprised that I have trouble with this one, b/c I normally love a velvety southern drawl. But this one is like syrup and marbles in a hot centrifuge.
Random: I LOATHE job titles. This company is so hung up on job titles and hierarchy. And I come from a really creative industry where job titles are kind of fluffy. It has caused so many issues and now I feel like an idiot. For example, "Social Media Community Manager" is an entry level/step above entry level job to me. I ran a team of them. They're in charge of the social media, not the management of anyone. It's in no way a management team position. And now it has unleashed untold levels of drama on my team. WTF.
