I’m currently in Greece. It’s amazing. Go to Paros immediately. I travel every summer with 2 girlfriends, and we are thinking of where to go next year. It will be early June. Continental US. We like cities and beaches. Not very outdoorsy. No camping. Traveling from CA for 5ish days. Since we did Greece for 2 weeks this year, we are keeping it closer to home and cheaper next year.
Places we’ve been and are off the list: Las Vegas San Diego LA Seattle Boston NYC Nashville Washington DC Chicago
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
Miami Charleston Savannah/Tybee Island San Francisco Phoenix Austin (The food alone will keep you busy for 5 days), but you could time it with one of the festivals.
What about Mexico? I know it's not US (lol) but it's just as close as a lot of US options and can often be cheaper, especially if you do an all inclusive. I think that would be a fun trip with girlfriends.
We were throwing around the idea of Charleston but have no idea what to do there.
Not New Orleans. 2 of us have gone.
We did the market and walked around. There is more to see but it’s not a place that would keep you super busy sightseeing.
i kindly disagree. H and I enjoyed walking around/window shopping in Charleston. We went to Fort Sumpter, the slave museum, they’ve got good bars and restaurants downtown. You can walk down the street while eating frozen alcohol popsicles that you buy out of a van. Lol there’s also an amazing brewery about a 20 minute drive from downtown where it’s like a dog park with booze. There’s the aquarium and natural history museum and various historical tours we didn’t have a chance to do.
Palm Springs. It’s so relaxing and beautiful, with great restaurants and enough to do to keep you busy for a few days. I recently went with some friends and we rented an Airbnb with a private pool. Most of us aren’t super outdoorsy, but we spent half a day driving though Joshua Tree Park and it was incredible.
San Antonio and New Orleans are also favorites because they are so unique.

I know you said continental US, but I will throw out Montreal as a possibility if you were just saying that because of ease of travel. We have taken a few trips there that time of year and love it -- it's got a bit of an international feel but still very accessible, easy travel (from East Coast at least), always some festival going on, great food...
Maybe it’s getting too hot at that time of year, but New Mexico would be my choice. I just loved Santa Fe and Taos. We’ve also been south to White Sands and Cloudcroft; there is an excellent resort up there, I think called The Lodge. There are also some beautifully-sited casino resorts, if you’re into that kind of thing. Then the Carlsbad caverns are supposed to be really cool, although we didn’t visit.

Any ideas??
I was there 20 years ago, and would love to go back but am afraid to be disappointed in that it's not the sleepy little island I visited in the late 1990s.

After visiting Santorini, this was a welcomed change of pace. I love it here!

I never wanted a Santorini or Mykonos when I went. I was so burnt out from work, all I wanted was a beach, a hotel room and a place to read, eat and paddle in the sea.
Ditto the rule-breaking suggestions of Montreal and Mexico.
Mexico City is fantastic and cheap.
You should also look into the La Paz area of Baja. The beaches, especially Bay of Balandra, are gorgeous. We fly to Cabo, and from there, it's a couple hour drive (there is an airport in La Paz too). Early June is when I went, and it's just the start of the off-season, so things are cheap and it's not crowded, but it's really hot.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
If you do Boston you can definitely find nice beaches ( Singing beach is about a 40 minute train ride) within a couple hours or take a ferry to Town or the Vineyard or Nantucket.
