So we just received an email that there are DVC points available for us to book a Deluxe Studio room at Boardwalk (BW) for our trip in April 2020. Now I feel like we can start getting our trip plan together (resort days, park days, meals, etc.), so what are your favorite things to do and places to eat at BW? Has anyone been to ESPN Club? DH and DS love sports, so if it's good, I thought we'd try to go there. And because it's next to Beach Club, let me know favorite things to do/places to eat at Beach Club as well (that we could do as visitors to the resort).
FWIW, my kids will be 9 and 10.5 when we go.
(We really wanted Beach Club, but BW was our #2 because it's walkable to Epcot and HS as well. I'm not too excited about the giant clown at the BW pool, but I guess I'll try to ignore it. Too bad we can't go to the BC pool instead!)
My kids loved the slide at the creepy Clown Pool, and after staying at both BC and BWV, I really prefer BWV. So light and bright and fun! You have margaritas and pizza on the boardwalk, and it's a little closer to Hollywood Studios.
Might be fun to take the kids to Beaches & Cream for the Kitchen Sink. A lot of people love the breakfast and seafood buffet at Cape May....we just never ate there. It's a great location for Park Hoppers, though -- we would do our mornings and early afternoons in the park, come back to hotel to swim, and then head back out to Epcot at night and have dinner in the park.....rode Test Track while fireworks were going off!
We've stayed at the Boardwalk several times and love it there! The Boardwalk Bakery is a favorite for quick lunches (they have pretty good sandwiches), and we've had decent meals at the Big River Grill too. Trattoria al Forno is expensive but tasty. We did the Cape May dinner buffet during our last trip and everyone loved the food--even the non-seafood eaters came away from that meal very happy. Oh, and there's Flying Fish for date night/signature dining.
Also, don't forget that the Swan and Dolphin are very close and have some great dining options too.
I really love staying at Crescent Lake because you can't beat the location. There's a lot to see and do, plus being able to walk/boat to two parks.
I've never stayed there, but I would really like to. I'm hoping we can rent DVC points there for our next trip, but I don't know if that's a realistic goal.
Stormalong Bay is neat, but the fact that you have to cross the public walkway to get to the water slide is a major drawback. Plus it’s a little disjointed with the lazy river, sandy area, etc, I could see preferring the more compact BW pool.

elcjet, we were excited to be able to rent points there due to the walkable proximity to both HS and Epcot. (We anticipate spending more time at both of those parks.) DH and I feel the kids will be old enough to walk to both, and it will be nice to avoid the busses for a couple parks. (I'm sure we'll try the boat ride too.)

Also, is it possible to ask for a cot? I think both kids can fit on the pull-out couch/bed, but if one of them could sleep on a cot, I think that might work better.
We really liked Boardwalk and hope to stay there next time we go. We walked over there from Beach Club when we stayed in January and I just liked the feel of it. We ate at ESPN and thought it was pretty good.
I'm in the minority though that I wasn't a fan of Stormalong Bay. As the poster above noted, it was just too disjointed for me - although admittedly, I am not a water person.

Your kids will definitely be able to walk to both HS and Epcot -- we were exhausted one night and wanted to take the boat, but the line was ridiculous...... so we decided to walk and in the end we managed to beat the first boat back. So easy.
Boardwalk has a pullout couch AND the pull down murphy bed, so you won't need to ask for a cot. My kids fight over the murphy bed now.

Thank you, elcjet ! I couldn't tell if there was a murphy bed from the pictures, so that is great news! My DD loved sleeping on the murphy bed on our last trip (DVC studio at Poly). Also good news about walking distance from HS and Epcot!

We own at Boardwalk, and if you're staying in the studio there's both a couch bed and the table is a murphy bed. You can turn it down and it's a kid-sized bed. My kids fit fine on the foldout but prefer each having their own bed.
We stayed at the Boardwalk on our last trip 2 summers ago. We are not DVC members and had regular hotel room. We got pastries or breakfast sandwich every morning at the Boardwalk Bakery. DH loves steak and getting the kitchen sink sundae was on his bucket list so one night we headed over to Yachtsman steakhouse for dinner and another night we did dessert at Beaches and Cream.
It was our first time staying at an Epcot area resort and we LOVED the location.
