How much breast milk per feed are your 4-5 month olds taking? Same q for formula. Trying to figure out how much to give for daycare. I read on kellymom 1oz per hour we are apart, but I think that sounds too little.

Formula fed 4 month old here - DS takes about 6oz per feeding, eats every 3.5 hours during the day, so usually 3 bottles while I'm gone, unless he's having a hungry, hungry hippo day.

DD has done 4.5-5 oz per bottle since around 3 months old, and she eats every 2-3 hours or so. She usually goes through 4 bottles during my 10 hour workday, but that includes her first feed in the morning because I go to work before she wakes up.

EFF and he takes 7 4oz bottles per 24 hours. He eats every 2.5-3 hours during the day.

I only give 4 month DD (EBF) one bottle of pumped breastmilk per day (before bedtime), but she takes 5 ounces then. I think 4-5 ounces per bottle is supposed to be typical at this age for breastmilk. Formula is higher volume.
I thought the same re formula, but our GI said it’s the same. I’m going to try 4 oz bottles at first and see how it goes. He spits up when he overeats.

This is why we only do 4oz. If he eats more he reflexes more so we just feed less more often.
I have a feeling DD (4 months) is going to be one of those babies that needs a 3 am feed until she weans, sigh.
She usually sleeps from 7:30 to 3:30 or 4 am and then wakes up starving. I do a feeding and she goes down again until about 7 am. I know an 8 hour stretch is great and I shouldn’t complain/compare, but it’s hard when so many other people are telling me how their baby STTN at 3-4 months. DD is getting 7 feedings during the day so she should be getting plenty? It’s not like she’s reverse cycling. Although she is truly hungry when she wakes up and doesn’t just want to comfort nurse. We always put her down wide awake at bedtime and she falls asleep without nursing, so I don’t think it’s a sleep association.
I would love to night wean her at 5 months (per Ferber), but Weissbluth says MOTN feedings are normal until 9 months? *sob*
Mine wakes up all night and my oldest woke up like clock work until 9 months. It’s so child dependent. I hope she does wean for you soon. I don’t know any of these unicorn babies in real life though.
The GI said that bm metabolizes faster and that’s why the baby wants to eat more often.

DD2 was like this too, which was extra awful because DD1 was a unicorn sleeper and STTN months earlier. This just proves to me that we have no control over it, it is kid dependent. To give you (some) hope, she finally dropped the MOTN feed around 6.5 months. It felt like forever, but it ends eventually! We never really sleep trained DD2, she pretty much dropped it on her own when she was ready.
ETA: I know what you mean too, I felt like everyone else I talked to had babies STTN by 3 months! At least when I had DD1 I was nice enough to lie to people about how well she slept! 😉

Girrrl... I know we’re not trying to compare but that sounds AMAZING to me. My DS was up 4x a night until he was over a year. DD is up 2-3x a night on average and that seems like a dream. Those “my baby sleeps through the night at 8 weeks” people are a vocal minority in my experience.

personally, I think it is too little. E1 always drank 2 oz per hour when we were apart (except for growth spurts, then it went up temporarily). E2 drinks about 1.4 oz per hour when away from me. So like today, I left the house at 6:30 am while he was still asleep, and got home about 7:30 pm. He had last nursed at 4:15 am. 13 hours I was actually away from him. He took 4 bottles of 4.5 oz each (and was pretty hungry when I got home).
melmaria don’t hate me but your baby is STTN since 5 hours is considered STTN. Maybe try a later bedtime to take advantage of the good stretch?
I know, I know. That’s why I hate to even complain. Maybe I’m just feeling bitter toward all the moms in the snoo Facebook group who have been posting about getting 12 hour stretches since 7 weeks, LOL.
Later bedtime doesn’t work for us. She is so tired by 7 pm, and falls asleep so easily at 7:30 that I really feel we’ve found our sweet spot with bedtime. Plus, putting her to bed a couple of hours before I go to bed is the only way I get time to myself to decompress (that’s not spent sleeping).
ETA: my mom has told me like 40 times that I was exclusively breastfed and STTN at 4 months so it should be possible for every baby. HELPFUL, MOM.
Step away from the snoo group! Lol I had to leave it because it was driving me crazy. I love our snoo and think it has helped but I seriously wonder how many of those moms are lying. So much of sleeping 12 hours is developmental and it doesn’t seem possible that that many babies are doing it at such a young age.
We have a 3am or 4am wake up and it really sucks. I have to get up at 6am so if it’s an awkward time to wake up after I feed/hold up/put down/fall asleep
melmaria C STTN at 9 months almost to the day, and I consider him to be a good to average sleeper.
I suspect D will do so sooner, but certainly not until after the 4 month sleep regression. And since he is trying to go to bed earlier, that is just going to increase our wake ups. Right now he goes to bed at 9-10, is up somewhere between 12 or 2 depending on the night, and then again 2 hours later and basically up at 5. He's just started going back in his crib for an hour. I'm hoping losing the swaddle will help.
I am just convinced my child will never sleep through the night and am working hard not to care. I get so jealous of all my friends with babies DDs age (3 months) and they are all sleeping long stretches, while this one still wakes up every 1.5-3 hours.
I am also annoyed because H has been in so many golf tournaments lately and he comes home and he’s tired so he goes to bed early. So I have to have the baby all day and then all night and he gets to go to bed because he’s tired from having been in the sun all day drinking. Oh poor you, H. And he leaves for a 5 day golf trip at the beginning of October. Perfect timing for the 4 month sleep regression.
Also, does anyone else's baby grab their face? DD has been grabbing at her hair and her face while she is trying to fall asleep and while sleeping (which wakes her up). I don’t know why she’s doing it and I don’t know how to stop it.

We swaddle for sleep so he doesn't do this while sleeping, but he does occasionally pull his hair. He actually hasn't done this since he figured out his hands are attached to him, but he was grabbing a handful from the back of his head and screaming. He does grab at his face when he eats sometimes. Also, now that he has discovered his thumb instead of putting it in his mouth with a closed fist he keeps his fingers straight up the front of his face and gets really close to his eyes. I don't know how to stop it, I just move his hand away when he does this.

Yeah I totally call shenanigans on that BS. Babies who sleep 12 hours that early are unicorns, not the norm.

Yes to not STTN! DD is 5 months and was up every 2 hours from 930-630 😭 Her longest stretch recently was 4.5ish hours earlier this week, and that was a fluke.
DD always grabbed at her face and kept herself from falling asleep once we dropped the swaddle. The Zipadee Zip really helped with that since her hands are covered.

I will look up that Zipadee Zip! When we have her hand covered with the flaps on her pjs (that flip to cover) then she just rubs her face. Like come on kid!
I hope you DD starts sleeping longer stretches. That’s brutal. ☹️
What is the dream on me PnP mattress like? Is it firm enough to be safe for an infant? My mom got a mattress for their PnP (not sure of brand) and it is so soft I didn't feel comfortable putting DD on it.
Second question - at what age did you put your baby in the stroller without the carseat or bassinet? Ours reclines pretty far and 5 month DD seems comfortable, but maybe she's still too young?

We loved ours for grandparents houses!
Ours reclined almost flat and I’ve put all 3 boys in it starting at 6 weeks.

DD2 was about 4 months - basically once she could hold her head up.

We're currently traveling and DD is pretty much just not sleeping. I'm wondering if the PnP was a little comfier with a mattress if she'd do better. Or maybe it's just teeth 😩
OMFG. H just told me he started to unwrap the condom the wrong way when we had sex a couple of days ago. He finds this substantially funnier than I do.

The past couple nights DS2 has been doing some good 3-4 hour stretches which is great, but holy shut getting him down for the first stretch is effing impossible. It has been 2-3 hours per night of feed, rock, put down, start crying 5 minutes later, repeat. It is so frustrating. Currently on round 5 of this. I just want to get in bed.

We got wrecked by the 4 month wakeful this weekend. This kid just will not sleep during the day. It is taking him over an hour to settle down at night, too. He has his well visit tomorrow and I’m tempted to tell his dad to ask for a tranquilizer, Christ almighty. Please just take my kid for a week or two until my snoozy sheep is back. It’s just the screaming and struggling, it’s driving me crazy. I had to basically smush him down against me during a screaming fit this afternoon and he FINALLY gave up and slept...for 30 minutes. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
