We’ve started DS on some solids. He was such a crank butt at our usual dinner time every night that we popped him in the high chair and handed over some peas. He’s really loving it. He’s done peas, green beans, and sweet potatoes. He’s only 5 months, so I’ve just been giving him a few spoonfuls and calling it a day, but tonight he hammered down half a jar of green beans and then his whole 7oz bottle before bed.
I told my husband he’s either going to sleep until the cows come home or he’s going to wake up in 3 hours clamoring for more because of a growth spurt, lol.
Solids are going so much better for him than they did for DD. Poor thing. I was all-in on BLW, so I gave her strips of avocado. She whanged a whole one into her mouth, gagged so hard, and refused food for a week after. She still doesn’t like avocado at 6 years old, lol. We’ve stuck with purées this time around.
The wisdom of being a second time mom 🤣
My mom bought some of these, because she watches Shark Tank. Our speech therapist recommended really soft spoons, so my mom thought this would fit the bill. They. Are. Awesome. Cleaning them is more like cleaning a pacifier or something similar, and I don’t feel like I’m waiting to lose 8 spoons down the garbage disposal, only to discover them when they’re mangled. thebabytoon.com/
For our 5am wake up, DD immediately shit straight up her back after latching. I put the Haaka on to continue draining that side. As I changed her out of her shit covered clothes, the haaka fell off, getting milk all over my bed. Then DD spit up on my comforter. Happy Sunday! 😩
On the bright side, when she woke up an hour later and fell asleep after the left side, I was able to pump 2oz off the right in 15 minutes, meaning I’ve brought that supply up! Yay!
Oh I almost forgot. Yesterday we took DS to a fall fest. I wore DD in my solly wrap. People of course asked about her (“oh my god is there a real baby in there?” Nope. A fake one.) but one lady wanted to see her. She actually reached over to move the wrap away from her face. I stepped back and she tried again! Lady! I don’t know you and it’s cold and flu season. Back off. Once I finally got back far enough and pulled the wrap away so she could see she stopped reaching but Christ! Boundaries!
I was not in the mood to fight with D about his crib any longer and I was nodding off holding him in the chair so I brought him to bed. The end result is that I just traded back pain for three hours of sleep. He's such a bed hog!
Woke up at 230am and Our power went out so the snoo isn’t on. Ds3 settled himself so fx he sleeps. And they restore power quickly.
I have no idea wtf happened. We have no estimate on when it will be back on and got not notification so I doubt it was a planned outage. And we didn’t lose power last night so I don’t think it’s related to the tornado.

They May have needed to cut power to remove damaged branches that were close to a power line. That was a common practice when I worked at my local utility. Hope everything is back to normal for you soon!
DS has been doing 1 wake up consistently for a while. Last night I moved his bedtime earlier and we had 2. Blah. I’m going to KOKO on moving it forward but I don’t like it. I know I need him in bed closer to 7 when I go back to work though (he’s been going to bed between 8:30 and 9). He did sleep in until 8:30 today but that won’t really be helpful when I’m back at work.
I can’t believe I only have 2.5 weeks left. Wahhh.
The baby had the hardest time falling asleep last night. It took forever and he seemed uncomfortable. He’s had green poop since Sunday and I found out another babu had a bad stomach on Friday. Hopefully it passes soon. I think my supply is dropping🙁 I didn’t have enough for all of my daycare bottle today. Whenever I send it 5 oz I usually get most of that extra oz left, so I’m sending 2 5 oz bottles and 2 4 oz. I can’t figure this out at all. He’s still eating basically between 2- 2 1/2 hours.
Anyone’s baby doesn’t want to turn from tummy to back? I’ve seen ds do it before, but not in a while. He plays on his tummy and when he’s done he cries to be picked up. I’ll bring this up to the dr, but figured I’s ask.

Ooh that makes sense! It came back on after a few hours and baby slept so everyone’s tired but ok.

My DS does this. I've seen him get himself onto his back once or twice, but he routinely cries for a rescue. He started PT at 2m (is now 4.5m) for torticollis, and that is resolved but he's still in PT because his PT says he has relatively lower tone. His torticollis was just about resolved when his initial 8 approved visits ran out and we got 8 more approved by insurance. I am not sure what happens when we run these out. He really doesn't have torticollis anymore, and his pedi hasn't expressed concern about his tone. He rolled back to belly right at 4m (over and over and over).
I am having trouble telling whether he truly has low tone, or just low motivation. He also doesn't reach for toys much, because he's obsessed with clasping his hands and putting them in his mouth. He also recently discovered his feet, and same thing - straight into the mouth. Lately he hasn't been rolling back to belly much although I know he's very capable of it (because he's done it many times). I think in part he's just a really mellow baby and doesn't feel like doing a lot of this stuff.
DD has shifted her sleep earlier which sucks for 2 reasons: 1) She's down by 6pm so I get an hour with her max post work, and 2) she now wakes up at 5am which is crushing my soul, since she also still wakes up 2-3x a night.
There is nothing more optimistic than me every weeknight setting my alarm for 6am.

you have described my baby. Hands were his big obsession for a while and if his feet are free, he sucks the toes. He can stay on his back doing that for a while. He only likes rolling back to tummy on his right side. The dr hasn’t mentioned low tone. I have to ask all of these questions at our check up. I need to write it down or I feel like we get of course. He’s hewing rolling from back to tummy since 4 months as well. He’s really quick when he wants to be. He tries to stand in my lap and tries to bounce. When I give him a rattle he takes it more by pulling it toward his body than by holding it, if he holds it it’s an awkward hold. He can take his paci out and replace it. Basically any toy, blanket or item ne comes across, he shoves it in his mouth.
Susie, has the daycare mentioned anything? I ask my teachers and they don’t think much of it. I figure they see enough babies to notice, but maybe it’s not on their radar.

lovelyshoes, I feel like that sounds normal. DS rolls both ways, but it's also easier for him to cry and be rolled by me or picked up. So, that's what he does. I also notice that mine usually rolls one direction, though I have seen him roll both ways when what he wants is positioned differently. I think his favored roll side is likely the side he figured out how to coordinate everything with first.
I say this with love because I often had worries brushed off by people I wanted to take me seriously when my DD was very small, but I think you're inviting some worry. It's always good to ask your doctor when you're concerned, so definitely write it all down and ask. But, I'm sure all will be well.

Thank you, I really appreciate the concern. I’m just wondering out loud and since it’s been a while since my oldest and he was more of a textbook baby, I just don’t remember some things. I’m more curious if other kids also don’t roll from tummy to back. I also definitely have guilt that he’s in daycare all day and I don’t get to see him as much as I would like.

lovelyshoes, DD is almost 5 months and I've seen her roll over like....twice, maybe? At our last visit the pediatrician had mentioned something about normal rolling over range occurring between 4 and 6 months. So for what it's worth, I haven't even really thought about whether DD should be rolling over much right now at all. I think it's a great idea to jot down notes to take to your next appointment. I usually show up with a page or two, though it's usually concerning heart and digestive questions.
lovelyshoes, no, daycare hasn't said anything. And yes to the standing -- my DS does a lot of that too, so that also makes me question how low his tone really is. He also loves to ride a "horse" on my knee - thanks dad. My dad taught him about that, and now if I put him on my knee he throws himself around to make himself bounce if I don't do it.
I'm doing a lot of reminding myself that kids do things at different paces and ages. At 4m well visit we saw a different pedi in the practice than at 2m, and he guessed the wrong side on torticollis just looking at him. I mentioned that his PT was concerned about his muscle tone, and he held him up and checked and said eh, I trust the PT to discharge when appropriate but what I see isn't worrying me. Normal is a spectrum.

My supply has gone to shit since going back to work I have to pump like 5-6 times to cover her 4 daycare bottles, and she's only eating 3.5oz every 2-2.5 hours.
DD is the same about rolling. She rarely stays on her back long anymore but never rolls belly to back! She's definitely done it, she did it before learning back to belly, but now hasn't done it in forever.

Totally random question. Is it normal to continue to be much warmer than usual after your LO is here? TMI, but I'm usually a person that rarely has BO issues, but it's a regular occurrence since L has arrived. 😕🤢

I’m like this at night. I wake up SOAKING in sweat for our first MOTN wake up. It’s awful!

In my experience with my daughter and PT they have kept her on until they were sure things were fine. She qualified for 6 months due to her torticollis. It was definitely resolved by the end of the 6 months but she wasn’t crawling and the PT was concerned that her tone seemed borderline (the pediatrician said she couldn’t get a great read on her tone because she was throwing such a fit during her 9 month appointment). Although she was definitely well within the range of normal for not crawling yet and the PT said if she was a new eval she wouldn’t qualify, she kept her in services because she said if this got worse instead of getting better we would have to start the whole qualification process over and that’s a month plus. Better to extend services for a few months and make sure she’s really doing well. She was discharged 6 months later at 15 months - running and climbing all over the place. I appreciated the PT’s caution in keeping her on.

Yes! The night sweats are the worst! I wake up the same, totally drenched.

Ugh, that period was the wooooorst. I’d wake up and immediately strip my sheets every morning. I’m past the intense drenching night sweats, but I def still overheat every night. I haven’t turned my bedroom heat on yet (in Boston in late October, so it’s dropping to 40 degrees outside overnight) and I still wake up sweaty. It really messes with my desire to only wash my hair 2x a week =P
My poor girl is having belly issues. Pretty fussy. Tummy grumbling. Threw up everything she ate last night and then had another fun projectile episode this evening. I feel so bad. I’m going to wait it out a couple days to see if it continues before calling the doctor, unless she seems to be getting miserable. DS never had anything like this.

Awww how is her poop? Could it be a dairy allergy?
