DS went from getting up at 4:45 to sleeping in. He slept until 9:30 today. I did a “hard reset” on him the other day and only let him nap once and that seems to have done it. I am so excited. Lol
We’re currently getting a new water heater. I know buying a house always means basically burning money for a bit, but omg this month has been so expensive.
I found a pretty large lump on my wrist last night. It has to have been there for quite some time given it's size (maybe slightly smaller than one of those pink school erasers). I feel dumb for just finding it now. My body likes to grow ganglions so I think it's probably just that, but it's not as hard as a ganglion usually is, so I suppose it might be something else. Gah! I'm so sick of medical stuff right now, and my PCP retired, so I need to find a new doc on top of getting this checked out.
I really want to look into getting a dog sometime in the future, but DH is a hard no, and it’s really annoying me that he’s so against it he won’t even consider listening.
His argument is “you and the kids aren’t going to take care of a dog.”

You could sign up to foster!! It's a great way to see if a dog is a good fit for your family. :-)
He’s completely against the idea. And he doesn’t even want to discuss it because “it would just turn into you trying to talk me into it.”

Well that’s dismissive as fuck. You’re a grown ass adult. Generally I’m pretty on the side of the person who doesn’t want an animal, but that reason is condescending as hell and pisses me off.

Agreed. I finally told him, "you don't think much of me, do you?" His mom is visiting right now, so it's not a good time to talk about it, but I'm not going to let this go. Even if we don't end up with a dog, he doesn't get to unilaterally make this decision.
I agree, he does a lion's share of the housework; and yes, dogs cost money and will make our vacations more of a hassle, but I think it would be valuable for the kids.
It took a crazy amount of time but DH finally got the front brakes changed on my car. At first he said he wanted to wait to do the rear set because dear lord it took forever and it's terribly hot and humid here this weekend. Then he decides to try the rear set. Everything is going so much smoother and then he gets to the final pieces that have to come off (rotors) and they won't budge. After an hour, hour and a half maybe of trying, he's throwing in the towel and just putting the new brake pads on and leaving the old rotors. I'm still not clear how this was easier than driving back and forth to the auto shop?

Well, it's wayyyyyy cheaper. H has always changes our brakes and at this point, I'm sure it's saved us several thousands. H also had a hard time getting the rotors off at one point so he had to go buy a tool. I just asked him and he said it's an "impact driver". Not sure if that helps!
XP: my puppy dog died while we were in the air on our way back to London. I am so sad.
I am so, so sorry for your loss.
My dog died 3 years ago while we were in London (my dog was in the states). It was, and sometimes still is, very hard knowing I missed being with her at the end. So, I know exactly how you feel and I'm so sad for you. Take care of yourself.
I’m a mixed bag of emotions today. My ex-BF got married yesterday - we are still on friendly terms, so I knew this was in the works. But still. We’ve been in each other’s lives for almost 15 years.

I mentioned your H and your brakes to my H ( I have no idea why now, but at the time it seemed relevant to the conversation), and he mentioned that doing your own brakes could be a liability if you are ever in an accident.
He said they always ask who serviced your brakes, and if you did it they can put the blame on you for not having them maintained by a professional. I have no idea if that is really true, but it does sound plausible.
I went to the New Kids on the Block concert last night w/ friends! It was lots of fun but I am so tired this morning. That is way more excitement than I'm used to, especially on a Sunday night!
I'm sitting on a deck in Uganda overlooking Lake Mutanda. I just had a massage and this morning I did a cooking class with a few local women while DH did gorilla carving. We all had lunch together and shared stories and riddles. The people here are lovely and so hard working. We've been here 5 days and have almost 2 weeks to go. The country is beautiful and the gorillas and monkeys are incredible.
