We had just gotten a second long haired cat and the fur was out of control. We have a cleaner every other week so we really never vacuum, just sweep as needed. I’d say that yes you’d need a regular vacuum to do more detailed cleaning like corners and tight spots. I run it on our first floor which is hardwood with some area rugs, and our basement family room which is Berber. It’s almost embarrassing what comes out of the container when I empty it! It’s pretty quiet too, really it’s just the bumping against things that is what we hear more than anything else. Sometimes I mistake it for the cats wrestling and playing. I run it a couple of times a week on the main floor and once in the basement, and empty each time.
One thing I’ve noticed is that having the clear the floor to run it forces us to clean up more often, because if we’re having to clear the floor anyway we just put everything where it belongs. Especially the playroom. I’m watching for a good deal on another so I can just leave one in the basement rather than carrying up and down.

Yes, I have one and love it. Would buy again. We have a eufy (not sure of the model) and it is powerful, large canister (for a robot vac), easy flooring transitions. We do still have a regular vacuum for the stairs and rugs as our dog's hair seems to really get in the rugs and not come out with the eufy.
The house is an open floor plan, and it keeps it cleaner than I could sweeping. My shark doesn't do great on non carpet flooring
I bought it on Prime day, and I love it so much. We've only vacuumed with an upright 1-2 times since we got it, because it honestly does a great job with general cleaning. You do need to do some corners and other details, but with only 2 people in our house the detailed stuff doesn't need doing that often. The Eufy is great for general crumbs, cat litter, cat food, lint, etc. I run it a couple of times a week and occasionally use a hand vacuum in between for messes (especially cat litter) but it keeps things pretty clean.
My only regret is that I waited so long to buy one.
We have Roomba and it does amazing job on both carpet and on solid floors. It also comes with a remote control to move it/turn it on/off so there is no need to be lifted if you need to move it from room to room. And it can be programmed to work e.g. daily at a certain time. But before choosing your robotic friend, you should do lots of research, read this robotbox.net/roomba-vs-deebot/ .
I’m absolutely happy we have one. We own the Roomba 960. I wish it had a bigger bin because I have to empty it once or twice during a run.
I run my normal vacuum once on the weekends. The Roomba has made such a difference. Before the Roomba by the weekend the dust bunnies had taken over, but now at the end of the week we can still see the floor lol. It’s glorious.
I got a Roomba for Christmas. So far I love it. I run it during the day while we are working because yeah it's noisy. I have it scheduled via the app for every other day. It is always picking up a good amount of dog hair and dirt. So to me it was a pretty nice gift. It is a direct replacement for a vac...absolutely not. But my floor is far cleaner than it was before I had it and I am actually surprised how much it picks up.
My husband got me the Shark IQ for Christmas. I love vacuuming so I would have never bought a robot myself.
1)Are you glad you bought one/will you buy another one? And if so will you get the same brand? It hasn't even been a month but I like that it goes under beds and hard to reach places. And I am surprised at how much dust it picks up every week so far.
3) Pros/cons It is a smart vacuum as in it has a camera that takes a picture of your rooms. Once it is done scanning your place, you can tell it to vacuum specific areas. The cons is that you can only use it on 1 floor of your house. Maybe the app will get some upgrades. I like that it can be controlled with my phone.
4) Do you still need a traditional vacuum for corners etc? I have a regular Dyson and a cordless Dyson that I used downstairs still or when I need some powerful suction.
I love mine. I run it several times a week, but it doesn't replace a regular vacuum. We have 3 dogs and it sucks up the surface hair and dust so I only have to do one thorough vacuuming per week. It's a roomba. I previously had a Eufy, but it died after about a year.
1)Are you glad you bought one/will you buy another one? And if so will you get the same brand? I have two. I would definitely buy another higher end Roomba, I have the basic model now.
2) Which one do you own? Roomba- basic model and Shark Ion
3) Pros/cons The roomba often gets stuck behind my couch, under a side table. The Shark has been nothing but a nightmare...I've only had it two months and it worked a month. I need to troubleshoot it some more when I have time and I'll probably have to call customer service. It has more features than my Roomba like the Wifi enabled and I can put down boundary strips to keep it out of certain area like the couch.
4) Do you still need a traditional vacuum for corners etc? only occasionally. I feel like mine gets corners pretty well.
1. So glad to have it, but would probably try a different model or brand next time. I got it for Christmas so I'm still getting to know it, but so far so good.
2. Eufy 11S
3. Pros: Slim enough to clean under most of our furniture, navigates well without too much bumping, from what I've read it's relatively quiet. The spot clean mode is nice - I spilled coffee grounds on the floor yesterday and instead of hauling out the big vacuum I just brought the robo vac in the kitchen and set it to spot clean for a few minutes while I finished making breakfast.
Cons: No room mapping function (I will definitely pay more for one that maps next time), we have a long-haired dog so the canister and brush roll have to be cleaned frequently, and the beeping when it starts/changes modes is loud although it runs pretty quietly. It has trouble picking up bigger debris like kibbles and pine needles that the dogs drag in.
4. IMO it does decently with corners. I always run it on edge mode first so it crawls around the walls of the room, and the outer bristles sweep any debris from the corner into the vacuum. It does a good job of cleaning crumbs from underneath the kitchen cabinets but there are a few little places it can't quite reach. Ultimately it's not a replacement for the traditional vacuum but now I vacuum the whole house once every other week instead of twice a week. I could probably go longer if we didn't have dogs.

I'm 50/50 on mine. I have a Shark Ion. I call it "the idiot machine".
Cons first, since I don't love it. It seems to get stuck a lot, either under furniture or because it got tangled in a cat toy/rug/etc. So I feel like I have to clear the floor of all obstacles, which sort of eliminates the convenience factor. That's also why I don't schedule it for when we're away, because I need to be available to rescue it. It also has trouble docking and will sometimes die before it can make it "home", even from only a room away. I wish it had a larger filter. I feel like I'm constantly emptying it. (We do have 3 cats, so it's clear why.) It's noisy, but less noisy than a traditional vacuum, so there's that. The no-go strips are annoying, so I would look into one with virtual no-go zones. Then there's the time it went through an errant cat poop, and you can imagine how that turned out.
Pros: If I set it in a particular room, it does well. If I let it roam, that's when it gets into trouble. It's good for a regular once-over but doesn't totally eliminate the need for a deeper clean.
Some of these issues are probably model-specific. As robot vacuums become more prolific, I think the technology will improve quickly. I might reevaluate in a year and get a different one.
pugz has had it for a year and a half and gave it a good review on MM Moms Amazon toys post.
I bought this one about 6 months ago and so far so good! We have 2 adults, 1 child and 2 Maine Coon cats.
We use ours at our cabin, so not all the time, but I love it. I used to have to use the dust broom often, when I was there, and now, I just turn it on on any given floor (cabin is 3 stories) when we are outside, and it sucks up the dust and dirt. including, under all the furniture. We have no carpet, just waterhog mats, so I cannot attest to that, but I would buy it for the main floor of my regular house, if I could find it for $100 again.

1)Are you glad you bought one/will you buy another one? And if so will you get the same brand? Yes. I previously owned 2 roombas more than 7 years ago and both broke horribly and wouldn’t work right again. I had them 1-2 years and liked them but the longevity wasn’t there so I gave up. Last July I bought an eFury one (11s) on prime day for $150. It does well and was a fraction of the cost of the roombas.
2) Which one do you own? See above
3) Pros/cons. It does great for in between vacuuming. We have a house cleaner come every other week and if I notice crumbs on the kitchen floor or dirt in between cleanings I’ll use it. We mostly have Hardwood and tile floors so it does great on those.
The roomba left huge black scuff marks all along our baseboards. I hated that.
4) Do you still need a traditional vacuum for corners etc? Probably. It’s great for setting and forgetting but it’s not the fastest way to vacuum and probably not the strongest suction.
I have the mid tier $600 Roomba. It runs every Monday morning. We have no pets to disturb, so we picked daytime when no one is home.
It is loud and he gets stuck from time to time, but overall we are very pleased with it. We don't vacuum our downstairs anymore. I also have the Bravaa to wet mop my master bathroom.
Do you like the Braava? I’m on the fence- I have a Roomba and like it and really want to get the mop one but it has mixed reviews. I have all hardwood floors downstairs and 3 small kids- I’m hoping the Braava would mean I don’t have to mop all the time anymore!
We have a Eufy Robovac 11. I love how much it gets up and how long the battery lasts. I don't like how it gets stuck under our gentlemen's chest and fridge and it doesn't have the function to create walls/boundaries.
I don't run it on a timer anymore because we have a dog and it freaks him out and I don't want it scaring him.
