I don't like the beach. My parents took me all the time as a kid and I always felt sort of trapped. It would be super packed and there was no way to get away from the relentless sun. Plus, I burned really badly but my mom is much darker skinned than me so she never put sunscreen on me.
I live in a beach town and I love it but I never actually go to the beach here!
Me neither. It’s way too hot and crowded. I live right outside Hilton Head and never go to the beach.
Good for you! I hope your H took the blame when it came to a head.
He admitted that it was all on him. The family/family split was his idea. I felt a little bad, but nephew and niece are the only kids in the family and get spoiled on birthdays and Christmases. I highly doubt they even knew that H didn't send a gift, it was more of an issue with MIL and SIL. We got a little shit on 4th of July from H's BFF's wife because we didn't bring a dish to share (we brought alcohol and ice so we didn't walk in empty handed.) H had called his friend beforehand to ask what was needed and friend said nothing, so H brought nothing. Wife said that next time the wives would need to coordinate - sorry lady, not happening! I don't mind cooking or doing the shopping if H lets me know a head of time, but there is no reason he can't handle coordinating. The wives need to handle it, give me a break!

I live ten minutes from the beach and don’t go in summer. I hate the crowds and the heat and the incessant sun. The sand gets everywhere, and traffic is awful. And I don’t like swimming in water that animals are in.
But I love going down to watch the ocean once it’s cool enough to need a sweatshirt. Watching the waves and enjoying the silence is soothing then.

That’s so rude that she said next time you need to coordinate. There is no rule that you NEED to bring something to someone’s party and you brought alcohol! That’s more than enough, why did she think you should have brought more?!
I hate doing yoga. I’ve tried, dammit! I haaaaaate it.
I did my first and last yoga class last month. No thank you to shining my heart and breathing out what doesn't serve me. It's just not me.
Lol. I think the only reason I liked yoga when I was going to classes regularly is because my teacher was hilarious. She would say things like “breathe out...the profanity you’re thinking as we hold this pose.”

This one is political. I'm a Warren fan. However, I'm worried that all of the Democratic candidates are too far to the left to beat Trump. I know that is a very unpopular opinion with Dems, but it is how I feel. We need a candidate who is a little more moderate to beat his ass!

Actually, that’s not true. I’ve worked many campaigns at this point. Actual swing voters are so few as to be nearly a myth. While they do exist, that’s not where an election is won. Elections are won on turnout. And generally the adage is “Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line.” We actually need someone to excite the democratic base, which historically faces more obstacles to voting (hours long lines in minority majority neighborhoods, de facto voter suppression in difficulty accessing the vote at all and in mail in rules) or is more prone to voting 3rd party than conservatives.
In fact, this false sense of moving to the center is why the goal posts have moved further right every election cycle, to the point that Nixon’s campaign would be considered to extreme as a democrat today.

I expect Trump to win. I obviously don't want that to happen (and worked in 2016 to prevent it) but honestly the Dems are too fractured, Trump's base is too cult-like, voter suppression is too bold, and I think Bernie is going to ruin it again.
Oh, and screw third party voters and people who abstain on principle in presidential elections. Your candidate isn't going to win, yes we need something better than a two party system but this is what we've got, and you had the chance to use your privilege to prevent the absolute hellscape we're living in.
I really need to know what it is with white people and their need to say this all the time.
Trust, I'm not picking on you, I see this often.
I'm white and it annoys the shit out of me. Show me another entertainer with the talent, creativity, business savvy, and vision that she has. Beychella was a masterpiece.

She's kind of a bitch anyway so I didn't let it bother me. I'd usually text her in advance to see if she wanted us to bring something and she'd usually say an app or side dish. I told H it was on him this year and he reached out to her H instead who said just bring alcohol and ice so that is exactly what we did. I told her that the H's had coordinated and she just gave her H the death stare. Not my problem.
I do feel a bit bad that my family will probably make out better in the gift dept., but again not my problem.

I mean she is quite literally the definition of "all that" so I don't get it.

I always assume these people have not seen Homecoming. The woman is not human. There does not appear to be a weakness.
Last night I saw Phantom of the Opera. I remember not liking it as a kid, but not why. I still didn't think it was that great as an adult. The set was really neat but very flashy with pyrotechnics and stuff which isn't needed for great shows. The music isn't that great. Like I never noticed how 80's it sounded. The story isn't that great. The whole abusive relationship thing ain't so hot.
I don't get why my MIL and SIL have to see it multiple times every time it comes around. I don't get why everyone raves about it.
I agree with you 100%. I loved it when it first came to Broadway when I was 14, but it's so dated and does not hold up well over time. But, it just keeps plugging along.

I think there are many anti-Trump Republicans that would vote for a moderate Democrat. They will not vote for a far left person though.

My immediate ILs are anti-Trump Republicans who didn't vote for president in 2016.
I'm a teacher and I'm so over summer. I would much rather be at work than at home with my 8 almost 15 year old begging for V-Bucks and complaining he's bored all day.
This. I have said this for years. As a teacher, I am expected to love summer. And I do love the end of the school year...I teach 11th and 12th grades, and I love the excitement of my seniors at the end, and I love not grading papers. Other than that, I am bored, tired of entertaining my kids (though I have backed off that despite the whining), tired of spending money to do things (even in the form of gas to the free things we do). We do not do well around here with idleness.
I acknowledge that Beyoncé is extremely talented, but I don’t think she’s the second coming or anything. And I think some white people go over and above on their love for her to try and appear more woke.

That was the theory/strategy in 2016 and didn’t pan out. The GOP is excellent at campaigning on fear and rile up their base with screams of abortion rights and high taxes. I met a ton of anti Trump Republicans and every one of them voted Trump when push came to shove for one of those reasons.

There is an overwhelming amount of evidence that disproves this theory.
Classics can be a snooze. Contemporary ballet is amazing! Check out Justin Peck’s work. He’s an up and Coming choreographer in NYC. He did an amazing piece using a Sufjan Stevens album called In the Countenance of Kings.
