Am I the only one wondering what namasteak's son's handwriting camp is?
His preschool used the Handwriting Without Tears program and the teacher who led it is offering a review for the kids entering kinder. He struggles with fine motor skills so I’m glad she’s doing this!

I've had a swollen elbow since the 4th and assumed it was a side effect of treatment, but it seems to be getting better so I just cancelled my orth appointment in hopes that it fixes itself. I took Thurs & Fri off this wee to spend some extra time with DD. I don't know what we're doing yet but H will be gone on a guys trip so we have the whole weekend.
Sending good vibes your way, joenali Bernadine, I go back and forth on being all electronic, all the time. I've used one note but then end up feeling like a physical notepad/day-timer is better. I still haven't really found the perfect balance...and this isn't even relevant to not wanting to be hip with the times, it's really just going back and forth on what works best.
Yesterday I heard scurrying feet in the attic above our guest room I swear it's a new issue every week in this house. Fortunately the last owners paid for wildlife exclusion policy so we won't have to pay out of pocket.
LOL. My first thought was ghost so I'm glad you are more level headed.

That really is a marvelous idea. My son is 22 and to this day he struggles with reading and writing cursive (ETA Writing less so but he has super messy handwriting). He has reading issues in general but right at the time he would normally start learning cursive his private school went all, kids don't need cursive anymore they need keyboard skills. I'm still pissed about it 15 years later. I wish they had handwriting camp for grownups.

LOL - if it happened at night I might have freaked out. But the disclosures on our house noted that there had been wildlife in the attic, which is common in this area.
But H swears there has been some weird stuff happening in the room where the attic access is (noises, door opening by itself, dog acting weird) and we've talked about what if we have a ghost or a creeper living in our attic. We jokingly refer to our upstairs neighbor.
My rising third grader's handwriting is so bad that we've been doing the Handwriting Without Tears series at home over the summer. I'm hopeful that we'll get to the cursive one before school starts up again in August because I suspect he's one of the kids who'll really take to it.

I seem to have gotten a stalker. I feel like the word stalker here might be an overstatement, but it probably fits. I told this guy I wasn't interested, he continued to reach out through text. He friend requested me on FB, which I'm not sure how he found me. He tried to follow me on instagram. Just now I received a phone call with just breathing on the other end, it wasn't his number, but I'm still a bit concerned about it. I've told him very directly that I'm not interested and to not contact me again. I've taken a screenshot of everything. Locked down all social media. I think I might buy pepper spray at lunch just for my own peace of mind (it's legal in my state). At work I'm behind secured doors, at home I have the dog, but parking lots make me nervous. He's very local to me.

A fabulous faculty member at a past school I worked for LOVED writing without tears. She was a former Special Ed. teacher, but said that program was great for all learners. Hope it helps and glad he doesn't mind "going to school" or camp that's school related in the summer.
I had a hangover yesterday. My first one in a long time. I was a dumba$$ who thought hey let's add vodka to those fruity 4.5% drinks then sit in the pool and pound drinks. I ended up sick in bed earlier than I normally would go, then couldn't sleep in on my one day to do that. Why do people drink that much all the time? It was awful.
I just got another rejection email with no phone screen. The only thing I'm hopeful is that they took a long time to send it, so hopefully I was in a well if these other 14 people fall through then we'll call you bin, but it's still defeating. What am I doing wrong? I can't even get interview experience if no one calls me back.

This teacher is a former SPED teacher who went part time at the preschool when she had kids Ds1 loves this teacher so he’s pretty excited about this camp

I’m sorry you even have to consider this. Stay safe.
Today is my last day of maternity leave, and I'm not handling it well 😭
Also I think the baby has started her 4 month sleep regression (but we also moved her into her nursery, so it could be that too?). None of us are getting enough sleep and I don't know how I'm going to deal with having to get up and go to work now too.
H is getting me out of the house today so I don't spend my last day wallowing!

My first thought when I read this was that you were saying you had a ghost 😂 so I'm happy for you that it's just an animal! That's annoying though. We've found a couple mice in the house lately and it's a pain.

isabel I do that every morning. Plan to wake up 45 minutes early and lay in bed til 15 before I have to leave thanking everything I laid out clothes and will have a messy bun and mascara and eyebrows only day. Lol.
I'm happy about picking up my crochet hook and yarn again. It's so calming. Plus I'm getting paid for a few projects and that's a bonus!
Some oddball guy was standing outside the NBC building at lunch with a sign that said “The United States could become an empire.” (Did he honestly think they’ were going to send a reporter down to talk to him about whatever the heck that’s supposed to mean?) Anyway, despite me totally avoiding eye contact, he followed me back to my car and started to harass me about whether I could back out without hitting his car. I’m not sure he really was the owner of the nice Miata he claimed was his. Ugh, I tried to laugh it off but he kept yelling at me the whole time I un-parallel parked.

DS is a champion sleeper but needed a couple of nights to adjust to his new room and crib. It really might just be that.
Do I recall you had an issue years ago with maybe your at the time stbxh spying and whatnot? I can see why you might have a lower threshold. I hope it turns out to be less instrusive than it sounds, but listen to whatever your gut tells you. I never regret listening to my gut, and often regret not. Good luck!
isabel - Two whole days a MONTH? And they're moving to somewhere so inconvenient? They're doing their best to get rid of people, aren't they?
Yes. I think my eyeballs rolled out of my head when he made the announcement. Also, he did indeed make the office location official and it is supposedly worse for "35%" of us. No mention on if/how they plan to alleviate that. He did make a comment that this new venture into flex work will help. Right. Super helpful. Two whole days per month.
I'm irritated. Talking to a coworker who lives in the mountains, he also was somewhat complaining about it because it will add to his commute time when he comes down to the office. Not a huge deal for him, but clearly I'm not the only one bothered by it. I'll see my boss this week, so hopefully there's some time to discuss it.

You're right. I really hadn't tied the two things together, but that explains some of my feelings about it. Thanks, I'll definitely be listening to my gut on this one.
We have done Handwriting without tears for DS. He starts 3rd grade and apparently they do 20 minutes of cursive instruction a week (seems low?). So I am sure we will be supplementing with the cursive book this year. He still doesn't make all his print letters properly even though I worked with him on it for 6 months... But the school didn't teach it past K, so thanks a lot 1st grade teacher who basically did nothing.
isabel- And he doesn't care about that 35%? A CEO who isn't concerned that he could lose a third of his workforce due to a shitty commute is mind boggling. I hope your boss is more receptive.
a F/U from a thread last week - I bought the Allbirds Tree Breezers and just got them on Saturday (super fast shippings). I like them and I don't think they look any more or less casual than the Rothy round toes. I think they are pretty similar looking actually.
They aren't quite as comfortable as the runners, which I guess is to be expected with the thinner sole - so not as much cushion. But I do think they are more comfortable for my feet than my Rothy's. Rothy's are just a little too tight/narrow feeling for me, these feel better. I don't know about wearing them all day walking, but, I imagine they are fine.
DS2 failed the eye test at the pedi last week so we need to get him into an eye doctor and I would imagine he’s going to need glasses. He told me tonight he was having trouble seeing the board in class last year. How did I not know this?! I feel so bad for him.

This happened to Wes. I happened to be subbing in his room one day and noticed him getting out of his seat and standing in front of the whiteboard. I asked him why he was out of his seat and he replied “because I can’t see anything!l and he was kinda exasperated at me, lol. I was frustrated bc I asked his teachers (2 for a class of 12) if he did that a lot and they said yes. Well, that MAY HAVE BEEN GOOD TO KNOW SOONER!!
Ended up Wes is blind as a bat. But you don’t really see it at home Bc it’s not like you’re teaching lessons on a white board. And it’s all they’ve likely ever known so they probably don’t know to tell you until someone asks “hey, can you see?”
