Got the emails today for my protocol and expected start date. I am doing what they call a cold start cycle in September. They have me on menopur (been on before) gonal-f (never been on), ganirleix (never been on), ovidrel (been there don't that).
Guys I am starting to freak out I need to order my meds. Then I need to decide what pgt testing I want from the company (cooper) I think I know what makes sense.
But what if we have no embryos that make it to day 5/6. Last time I was on lupron, menopur and then ovidrel for trigger and they got 10 eggs, 9 fertilized, 8 made it to day 3 which when my then Dr froze and we transferred 2.
What if we have embryos but none test normal. Ughhhh I know not to borrow trouble but I can't help it. Also my acupuncture sessions are done and he wants me to continue twice a week but my husband is pretty meh about them and while I don't hate them I don't particularly love them (mostly I use them as a mandated nap time but I do find it a little uncomfortable) so I don't know what to do. .so basically give me hair pats and there there's as I freak out about my start date becoming real.
P.s. one silver lining is that I found out my insurance company may actually cover two med I didn't think they did (it shows as covered on their website)
ilovecandy I shared your fears for sure. And then they came to fruition. I hope that it does not happen for you. Hopefully you’ll be able to get the gonal f injection pen. It’s so easy to administer.
I’ll be thinking about you! Be kind to yourself during your cycle.

Thank you. I am fairly positive we should have at least one embryo making it to testing I am just scared of teh t sting I think. But I don't know as ours only grew out to day 3, last time so it is terrifying me those two extra days and not knowing.l too.
Also my prescription says 375 injected daily so they want to do the 450 vials and then draw up with a needle and syringe and I ject 375 so no easy pen for me. ☹️
Hugs friend! Your fears are all reasonable given what you've gone through all these years! I've been on all but the ganrelix. The menopur will burn a bit when you inject it, but the other 2 I never had issues with.
I cant help with the PGS stuff, we never tested our embryos. But know that doing the testing will be good, you'll weed out the bad ones and the ones that do make it will be strong hopefully!
As for acupuncture, do what feels right! I did it because I figured at the very least it cant hurt my cycle. And maybe it actually did help make a difference in the end. But theres no right or wrong choice there.
I went through similar feelings going through our 2nd IVF because what if all the same problems happened as the first time. Its completely normal given the money and emotional stuff you pour into it. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you move forward! I hope this is it for you!

Did you guys grow out to blastocyst each time?
Yes we did. First IVF I had 2 make it to day 5 blasts and transferred them fresh. Second IVF I transferred 2 fresh 5 day blasts. They also froze one on day 5 and another on day 6.
I don't make many eggs, but thankfully my quality was good at the time. It's been 5 years though, so that may have changed some now that I'm mid 30s.

Good luck. It is overwhelming but often second cycles go better than the first since there is more information about how you will respond that they can use to customize your protocol. One step at a time, we’ll be here for you.
Sorry my family is here right now but I wanted to say thanks to everyone. Who commented. I am just worried since I is such a different protocol than my last ask we are growing them out longer but hopefully it that will be better and result in better embryos.
Ganerilex is a thick dull needle. Numb it first with ice pack, then stab it in. It’s a short needle, and medicine is thick, so rub it once done
Thanks for the tip!
I just found out my insurance will cover a lot of the meds except gonal and menopur for way cheaper through their mail prescription order so yay! Last time they covered very few of the drugs. So maybe it is the drug switch or they changed their coverage but I am excites
I totally understand your fears. I feel like the first cycle it is easier to expect things to go as planned. Take care of yourself as best you can. Some things are out of our control.
*TW* I had a decent 1st IVF cycle, ended up with 7 embryos I think, but noting except for one CP. 2nd cycle they froze a few at 3d, again, only a CP. 3rd cycle we had 4 blasts, first transfer stuck. It’s a total crapshoot. I did switch clinics for the 3rd cycle, I think this lab was better, their success rate is twice that of the other clinic.
You are at a new place as well right? Know that we are all rooting for you and trust your doctor/lab to do their part.

Yes we moved so new place. Out first round we had 8 embryos at day 3 (freeze day) they froze 6 and we fresh transferred 2 on that cycle. It ended in cep. No fets were successful.
Good luck. Ive been on all of those meds and the menopur stings but the rest are easy. I was on 750.of gonal f at one point and had to do 2 injections a night but it wasnt bad. Ganarelix is prefilled and a super tiny needle. Its scary to think of the what ifs. Out of 4 ivf cycle cycle 1 and cycle 4 netted me day 5 blasts. Cycles 2 and 3 did not so its a crap shoot. We were set to test on cycles 2,3, and 4 but obviously did not for cycles 2 and 3 and when i had my blasts on cycle 4 i chose not to test because for the small amount of embryos i didnt feel like it was worth the cost.

I'm sorry, it is super nerve-wracking and you've been through a lot.
If it eases your mind a little, Ganirelix was a prefilled needle for me and SUPER small. It was basically the same as Ovidrel, IIRC. It did itch, but not stinging or pain and I did it right at work, before my students walked in (if that gives you an idea of how easy I found it).
ETA: I realize I'm about two weeks late, so IDK if you've started your protocol, but I did want to add that Gonal-F was also realllllly easy for me. No burning, no stinging, very small needle. It was a little anxiety producing because you have to click to the right dosage and sometimes you have to reset it, but the directions with the box are very easy to understand.
