As part of our bigger house reno we moved the huge hot water heater out of this area in our basement and installed a tankless heater and put the washer and dryer here. I have a ton of Pinteresty stuff saved for laundry areas but none of it seems practical for the challenges in this space - mainly, the awkward window, and the exposed hot water heater. I need ideas for storage, designing around the window and heater, and I’d like to have some kind of drying rack and possibly a counter. I had thought I wanted a slop sink which I think we might have room for, but now that we don’t have one anymore I don’t really miss it, so I’m meh about it now. I’m open to stacking the W/D if it makes sense, I just can’t envision how to make this look nice. Please help!!! And please excuse the mess.
This opens right into the rest of the very small basement which I hope to eventually turn into a play room.
I wasn’t sure how to do anything over the W/D because they go right up to the wall and block the window. Maybe a wire shelf with hanging rod could be mounted without butting into the wall, and a curtain panel over the window so it’s not so obvious it’s being blocked? I don’t think cabinets will work on that wall. I do like the idea of enclosing the heater I hadn’t thought about that.
