I had my yearly exam two weeks ago and the doctor felt "thickening of the uterus" and it did hurt when she pressed. Otherwise, I am not in any pain or have anything unusual going on except my periods are coming closer together now (I'm 42). She casually waved her hand and said maybe a fibroid and sent me for an ultrasound. I went the day before vacation. We got home yesterday and I got a voicemail on Thursday from the doctor herself asking me to call her on Friday. I tried calling the office and they said I have to wait until tomorrow morning. I will be at the orthodontist with my daughter who will probably be throwing a fit you will all be able to hear, so I can't call until the afternoon. Would you be freaked out?
I would be nervous, and I think most would be. But there are SO many things they could have seen. Pre-menopause can cause so many issues with bleeding. Some people go through periods of time where they bleed a lot, bleed more heavily than usual, and more frequently. I hope that once you speak with them they can provide insight, but wouldn't brace myself for the worst.<3
I’d be nervous but I am an anxious person by nature. Try not to let your thoughts run away with what it could be. I like to take deep breaths when I realize that my anxiety and brain are getting the best of me. Sending best wishes.
Are your periods really heavy too? It could be adenomyosis. The uterus become thick and glandular because endometrial tissue starts to grow in the uterine muscle. It makes periods painful, heavy, and longer than normal.

I think it’s normal to be nervous, but like others said, try not to let your thoughts run wild. Maybe your daughters fit will be a good distraction until you are able to make the call. Is there any way that you can change your daughter’s appointment or have someone else go with her so that you can make the call earlier?
Anytime a doctor calls it is nerve wracking. Sending you all of the “it’s no big deal” prayers in the world.
As someone said above, maybe there is a way to have someone else go with your daughter while you make the call? I would be wanting to get that over right away and it’s sometimes easier to catch someone in office in the morning than the afternoon.

Thanks all. I don't ever get cramps (I get headaches). They are heavier than before kids, but not crazy. I can't reschedule the appt, but I agree that it will be a distraction. Sigh. I don't have time for this!!

I spoke to a nurse this morning and the doctor is going to call me today. A cyst on each ovary and an enlarged uterus. I have no idea what any of that means. At dd's appt now. Wish me luck! (And today is my birthday!)
I hope you get some positive news from the doctor! I don’t know what any of that means, either. Ugh, treat yourself to something extra for your birthday!

I’ve been thinking of you today and will look for another update when you know more. Happy birthday! Definitely a weird day for you, I’m sure.

Ok, so I have a 2cm cyst on one ovary and a fibroid. Both of which I was told were no big deal. Her call was actually because of an abnormal pap. I need to have a colposcopy and biopsies done on the 11th. I have had both before, like 15 years ago. She said it is low grade, so I'm trying not to freak out.
Dd was terrible at the orthodontist. Like could not have been any worse. Sigh.

Oh but it sounds like a day I am glad that the worrisome stuff doesn’t seem as bad. Definitely don’t stress the abnormal pap!

I don’t want to “Like” this but I’m glad for the report.
