2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? With the baby potentially coming early, I've had to work at the same hospital I'm delivering at since my doctors are already there. I float between 3 at the moment but lugging my mobile office from place to place is just too much. I'm trying to keep him in as long as possible. My boss is calling a meeting tomorrow to discuss me going out and preparing for that. I have no idea what will come of this meeting but I really need a new job.

4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out? Each pregnancy has been different so I really don't know what special things I need. I know I need to do better to pack snacks because I was starving the entire time with my second one. I also breastfed so I'm sure my calorie intake wasn't where it needed to be.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? My morning sickness is getting worse. Last week, I was nauseous in the morning and gassy at night (like excruciating gas that had me writhing in pain). I cut out carbonated drinks (sad!!), which seemed to make a huge difference in my gas, but now I'm just nauseous all the time. I know this is normal, but it sucks so much. I took a Zofran this morning just to help me get through the day. I hope that's ok. I've seen conflicting safety data.

4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out? I don't remember much about the first time. I did buy a nice nursing gown and robe, which I enjoyed having in the hospital.
rbp, I had zofran with my last pregnancy. I was up to 24 mg and still vomiting when they diagnosed me with HG. I finally got put on phenergan which kept me from being admitted. I was still working so I had to sleep in my car on my lunch break in order to get through my day. I hope you get some relief soon. I don't wish morning sickness or HG on anyone.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? Just ready for the second trimester energy, which IIRC from last time is slightly more tired than not pregnant but no longer feeling like I was hit by a truck tired.

4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out? I haven’t packed it yet for this pregnancy but recall last time I used the crap out of my long phone charger to keep myself awake while holding a sleeping newborn when it was H’s turn to sleep. I also didn’t order the Frida baby Momwasher until I got home and it will 100% be in my bag this time around, the hospital peri bottle at least where I delivered was a joke, and hours post partum I did not enjoy the accessible hospital bathroom in my recovery room while waddling from the toilet to the sink to refill that tiny POS.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? We are seeing MFM this afternoon for another look at baby boy (I started a separate thread about it last week). I was up until 4am googling/worrying about IUGR so that's helpful. The lack of sleep already has me teetering on crying :/ My poor colleagues!
We got our guest room taken apart on Saturday and all the supplies bought for the tongue and groove plank wall we are building this weekend in the nursery. I am anxious to get moving on the nursery though I know we have plenty of time. We did order his name sign, which means we are 100% agreed and set on the name. It hasn't really changed in the last few months but ordering stuff WITH his name on it makes it more real.

4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out? The plan is for DH to sleep at home (if all goes well) so I don't think I need to pack like a European vacation. My plan was breastfeeding pillow, comfy clothes for me and toiletries, going home outfit for baby, tablet/phone and chargers, flipflops for shower, sports bra and tank for labor, lots and lots of snacks, and MAYBE a color coordinated robe and swaddle for pictures. We have our hospital tour in a few weeks and I'll doublecheck what they provide, too. I basically have nothing on that list bought yet.

1. How far along are you? 35w4d and feeling it.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? My vents all came out last night in the Sunday Randoms post. I feel a bit better today thanks to the wonders of AC, but still not great by any means. I never swelled up with DD (born August 25th) so this is an unpleasant new development.
3. Questions for the group? Anyone else dealt with Carpal Tunnel issues? Is it worth it to buy the braces? It would be out of pocket and so far my hands are mostly just numb. So annoying.
4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out? I need to get my shit together. I need to do this as well as finish up the baby’s nursery basics and also get my car seat installed and retrieved from BIL’s house this week. I’m dragging all the way though.
We will hopefully only be in the hospital for 6 hours, but I still plan to bring an overnight bag in the car in case I wind up with a csection or other complications that land me in the hospital for longer. I won’t bring as much clothes though since last time I hung out in the hospital gown mostly, and I won’t bring as much clothes for baby since she too hung out naked or just swaddled most of the time, so she really just needed the going home outfit. Most important is a tube of Vaseline to make sure the baby’s bum is lubricated after each diaper change since those tar poops at the beginning do not want to come off!

Don't discount how you are feeling. I had it with both of my pregnancies. While my HG was bad, I still had decently bad nausea and morning sickness with DS1. Don't be afraid to ask for things from your doctor if you're not getting relief. You still have to be able to function. This is my third and my first pregnancy where I didn't experience any type of morning sickness or nausea.

That was how I felt with #2, much more so than with my first. You have my sympathy, it sucks. Have you tried a B-6 + Unisom (doxylamine) regimen? It's basically OTC Diclegis. The dose regimen is pretty easy to find online, I can't remember exactly what it was. I'm not going to say it made me feel great, but definitely better. Since I wasn't actually puking (I just felt like it constantly), I didn't feel comfortable with the cost/benefit of ondansetron.
My baby is 11 weeks now, I just can't completely quit this place, ha.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week?
My kiddos start preschool tomorrow! Finally. Public schools here started back Aug 1. Now that I’m feeling a bit better, I’m hoping to use that time to get my life back in order for everything that fell by the wayside during first trimester. Maybe I’ll even start cooking again... maybe.
3. Questions for the group?
If you had winter babies, what did you wear home from the hospital. The first time I can’t remember but I know I wasn’t comfy. The second time I brought my LLL leggings I had worn all pregnancy, due to all of the fluids I was given, I felt like a cased sausage in those. It’s not *usually* freezing here in early February but still cold. I need some better options. Maybe just comfy sweats of some sort?
4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out?
Not yet, but like PP said, I loved having a pretty robe with #2. With#1 everyone convinced me I didn’t need it, then I really wished I had it! My only tip would be get something light weight. I was disappointed with the weight of mine at first, but then I was SO happy to have something light when the time came. I wore it constantly for the first month or so.
ETA: other than personal preference things, my hospital provides EVERYTHING you could need. I did like having my nursing pillow, my own pump (I really don’t care for the medlars at the hospital and I’ve needed to pump with both babies due to latch issues initially), my own pillows, slippers and clothes. I never wore hospital clothes with #2 and I was so much more comfortable.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week?
Nothing new, she's still kicking like crazy and H was able to feel her kick a week ago.
3. Questions for the group?
4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out? Not yet. Last go around I didn't feel I missed anything, so my bag will probably be pretty much the same. Maybe extra chargers for my devices.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? So DS has impetigo. I called my mw to hear if there was anything we should do about it since I’m due any day now but she said it was just the normal stuff like very careful with hand washing. But I guess this is just one more reason to hope baby girl stays in a little longer. Which sucks because I feel so done and so uncomfortable. I’m convinced it’s either triplets or an octopus - there’s hands and feet sticking out everywhere (way more than what you would expect from one baby) and a bone-y little bum in my lungs. Oh and because the impetigo DS is not allowed in daycare so I’m stuck at home with him. I so need those hours without him to rest and get the last few things done. Today is DS birthday so DH stayed home from work and we’ve had a fun day together. He got a big playmobil fire truck and it was a huge hit. He’s been carrying it around and played with it all day. And every time someone called him on FaceTime he instantly had to show them his big fire truck. So sweet!
3. Questions for the group?
4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out? I’ve actually packed it mostly already this time (last time I waited until I was in labour). So far there are two outfits for DD, some clothes for me and a couple of t shirts and underwear for DH. I have to add some toiletries and phone + charger but that will have to wait until it’s go time. I’m not sure how much I need to bring to be honest - the hospital I’m delivering at this time is pushing early discharge hard for STMs. So I might only stay 6 hours. I’m hoping I can convince them to let me stay a little longer though - honestly I think this time it’s even more import to stay a few days than last time - I have a 3 year old it’s not like I will get any rest at home. Last time we stayed 3 nights (DS was born on Friday evening and we came home Monday morning) and it was glorious. I don’t need to stay as long this time I guess but I feel one night is a minimum.

I haven't tried Diclegis. Doesn't the doxylamine make you sleepy? I've never taken Unisom, but I shudder at the thought of trying to drive/work on other antihistamines.

I took the doxylamine at bedtime and didn't struggle with sleepiness during the day as a result, at least any more than I would attribute to normal pregnancy tiredness. You can also try B-6 alone as a first step.
rbp my midwife recommended 1/2 a Unisom tab (Doxylamine Succinate) and 25mg vitamin B6. I would take it before 9PM and my nausea would be gone until 6PM the next day. It didn't make me sleepy but I had to take it before 9PM or it would be hard to wake up. I could take this combination several times/day but just once before bed was enough to make me feel better.
Ok cool. Thanks for the info Susie and Aloe Vera . Can I buy these things at Walgreens?
Yep - just make sure to check the API on the Unisom to get doxylamine. There are a couple Unisom-branded products that have different APIs, you want the sleep tabs rather than the sleep gels (diphenhydramine). Hope they make a difference for you!
1. 23+2 2. My varicose veins are outta control on my left leg. I had some preexisting ones, but new ones and spider veins are popping up. My feet are so swollen even flip flops a size up are leaving dents. Scared of how much worse this will get. 3. Do you need a pediatrician set up ahead of time to be there at the hospital? I thought my OB office said to call now, but when I did the office said I need to wait until the baby is born. If we circumcise, it’s the pedi, right? So confused on this. I took zofran for 3 out of my 4 pregnancies. You’ll be fine I’m sure. I tried diclegis with my 3rd and was a walking zombie the whole 3 days I took it. Like, had to call into work sick because I couldn’t stay awake. Zofran wasn’t a cure-all but I could at least somewhat function with it.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I started NSTs last week and they are terrible. My first one was 4 hours and the one today was 1.5 hours because they have a hard time finding each baby. Growth scan last week showed baby boy in the 98th percentile. I am a little scared of what these last few weeks are going to feel like as they both start putting on more weight.
3. Questions for the group?
4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out? I packed an extensive bag when I had DS and I don't think I opened the bag except to get a few toiletries. This time I have a toiletry bag, makeup, some towels and washcloths, PJs and something to go home in for me and a couple of outfits and swaddles for the babies. The hospital instructions for my c-section say to expect three nights in the hospital and I sure hope that is right. I found the hospital stay to be comfortable and I welcomed the help from the nurses!
red it depends on your hospital- we had a pediatrician in mind but our hospital partnered with another practice in the adjacent building that will check on babies without an official pediatrician at delivery or if their pediatrician is unavailable. Since I delivered DS on a Saturday night and wasn’t officially with his ped yet we saw the hospital recommended ones which was fine (and thankfully in network, that’s something I would check on if your hospital does similar).
red, we had to have our pedi set up before birth for both my DS and for this pregnancy.
That’s what I thought ours said. Did yours actually come to the hospital while you were there? I might need to call the office again, maybe I got someone who was clueless. She basically said they could not set up a chart without an actual birth date, so I needed to call when baby was born.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I had an ultrasound on Thursday and the MFM doctor said he was sure I had GD because baby was measuring two weeks ahead, the belly was in the 98%, and my fluid was high. I had my test on Friday though and passed with flying colors, so I don’t know? I’ve been having a lot of uncomfortable Braxton Hicks which my doctor said is related to the high fluid, but it’s sucks.
3. Questions for the group? Anyone experience high fluid levels? Did they go down if so?
4. Has anyone packed their hospital bag? What are the important items you wish you had? Stuff you felt could have been left out? I haven’t yet, but with my previous kids I really didn’t feel like I needed much. Comfortable clothes and socks, charger, pillow for H...we live close to the hospital though, so that makes a difference.

Yankees21, mine isn’t over the range but it was 21-22 at 37 weeks, which it usually is around 14. The high range is 24 I believe.
I feel for all of you in 1st trimester. I couldn’t eat anything but cereal until 15-16 weeks. I also spent 2 weeks in China throwing up from morning sickness from 6-8 weeks. It was brutal. I’ve been nauseous again since Saturday and it’s reminding me of 1st tri m/s and not pleasant.
1. 39 weeks
2. Doing a bit better mentally with still being pregnant. Trying to stay positive and relax. Had loads of “signs” over the weekend and had off and on contractions all day but nothing manifested. Asked her to do a cervical check today and I’m completely effaced and dilated 1 Cm on the outside so glad to know the contractions are doing something. I asked for a sweep on Friday if we can so hopefully with massage, acupuncture, and a sweep this week, something happens!

4. I finally caved and packed my bag this weekend. Things that I packed and see as essential: long phone charger, a straw to go in my water bottle, and fuzzy socks. I also got a pretty floral robe. We have to bring many things here so I have a ton of stuff but no idea what I’ll end up using.

I met the pedi before hand. I actually met with 2. The first one I didn’t like - no personality and didn’t know anything about breast feeding. The second one I liked a lot. We called when he was born to set up his first apt and they visited us in the hospital bc they do their rounds there. An OB did the circumcision.
EllieT I would want to be there 1 night as a minimum too and advocate for that. 6 hours isn’t even enough time for your PP bloodwork to come back normal (or at least it wasn’t for me last time, I delivered DS at like 10:40 pm and the first bloodwork they took early morning still had low white count- doctor was confident it was bc it was taken so shortly after labor but wanted another round to make sure it was increasing before they sent me home) so discharging someone that quickly seems crazy to me.
