The last bits of furniture we need after our remodel are for the front entry, and some kind of buffet/storage in the dining room. The first floor is totally open concept so I’m struggling a little with how matchy or coordinated those two things should be.
Most of our other wood furniture we have is all the same kind of finish of dark black/brown. (Side table (kind of hidden in a corner between two couches), dining table, chairs and chairs at the island.). I kind of want to replace our dining chairs soon though with something more fun.
I think I’ve decided on this table for our front entryway.
We have a similarly styled bookshelf that will be across the room opposite it.
This line comes with a matching piece that has dimensions that would work in the dining room.
But I’m also really drawn to this, which feels more “dining room-y” to me for some reason.
Looking at them next to each other they feel so different. Are they too different? But is it cheesy to be super matchy and get the exact same style?

I don't love them together. They feel like two completely different styles. I think you can go coordinating without going matchy-matchy as long as you choose the same type of decorating style. Our house is pretty contemporary with some more modern elements. When we shop we stay in that vain of style. Our stuff doesn't match, but it coordinates because it's the same style.
I feel like coordinating without matching is so much harder when dealing with different wood tones. I totally agree with you in theory, but in practice I feel so lost!
I loathe matching sets, but I don't really like the last piece with the others either. Does it go with your table?
To me, there has to be something that speaks, (or even just gives a nod) to other pieces. It could be style, color, tone, proportion....just something.
I actually had this whole space decorated through modsy, but none of their recommended combinations really appealed to me. I had so many changes that I feel like they were just throwing in changes without really thinking.
All of the pictures I posted are from target, but the pieces are knock offs I found after finding what I originally liked at West Elm and C&B. So I could probably try the designers at one of those places.
This is the piece from C&B that I liked for the dining room. It has the metal feet which I think sort of coordinates better?
It just has really bad reviews on quality so I figured I’d try to find something similar and that’s how I came across the other one although it’s maybe missing the important part of the metal accent.

I know you said the area was open concept, but would you actually be able to see both pieces at the same time? I wouldn't worry about being two matchy in two separate rooms, but I also wouldn't worry about getting a piece you don't love just because it matches. I think I'd get the entry way table and keep looking for a dining room piece you really like.
dr.girlfriend , the dining room piece would be sort of hidden by the dining table at pretty much any angle so that is definitely something to consider!

The combination of the metal on the bottom, the hardware (pull vs. knob), plus the wood definitely make this read more in line vs. the first one you posted. However, I think sometimes it's easier to mix and match pieces when you aren't trying to coordinate wood. For example, our dining room table is a beautiful dark mahogany finish. I don't like the matchy-matchy look so we paired it with gray painted chairs. Because they are the same style, they go together. For me personally, when you are trying to match too many pieces of wood, it looks like you just picked up furniture along the way, vs. coordinating with different woods/paints/metals/fabrics/etc.
ETA: not sure if this would bother you, but the matching piece from Target looks like a TV console because of the holes in the back. That would personally drive me nuts, but I also am slightly OCD so there's that.

Mrs.flang, definitely don't get the CB one. UGH, we have a similar one from there and it came broken, and they replaced it, but it's still garbage. It looks nice, but not quality, especially for the price.
I have this piece from world market, and I love it.
