Has anyone tried to sign up for ACA coverage? I'm trying to help someone (soon to be husband's ex-wife) sign up and I'm seriously being sent in circles of "enter for info" , "click here for quote", "enter your info". It's ridiculous.
Yes it was pretty straightforward. However, every state can be different. Is there still the option to call a phone number for help?
I might have to do that. I was trying to get estimates to see if it was feasible that FH and I could pay for ex-wife's coverage. But online we're just getting the literal run around (Louisiana).

I have my health insurance thru the ACA but I am in California and our website works okay 99% of the time. The only issue I encountered was if you checked yes in the current insured box; that caused a glitch in the system and it would not recognize any subsidies that you would be eligible for based on income. I had to call to get it sorted out.
My state has a really good Navigator program where you can get free assistance with one-on-one help from a Navigator. They are trained on the website and can do your application with you. Even walk through different options to see what coverage is best for you. Maybe you can google a program in your county?
Im wondering if I accidentally ended up on a scam version. I was tired when i started and the amount of spam this morning is infuriating.
The spam thing is new as of two years ago and makes me think you were on the legit site.
However, even healthcare.gov isnβt quite as confusing as you are describing for most people. Louisiana uses the FFM so they donβt have a separate state-run website.
You should be able to go through and enter all the info and see what the plan options and pricing looks like - they can also run you through it on the phone. However, Iβm not sure if you can access all that info now because unless there is a reason to qualify for a special enrollment period you wonβt be able to sign anyone up for coverage until Open Enrollment begins in a few months (Nov 1 for 2020 calendar year coverage.) This is the link: www.healthcare.gov/get-coverage/

This is a good idea but since the navigator program funding was slashed by 90% under the Trump administration most navigator programs have closed unless they have another source of funding. It is more likely you will be able to find someone to help during open enrollment. Some states have better systems than others based on state or local or organizational resources that have been invested in maintaining health care enrollment systems.
