We are headed to PR in November and will be staying in a house right next to Seven Seas beach in Las Croabas. My mom and her boyfriend wanted to be near the rain forest.
The house we're staying in has a full kitchen, so I imagine we'll be eating there a lot, but probably still going to restaurants as well.
It'll be me and DH plus our two kids (4 and 2), my mom and her boyfriend, and my sister. Give me all your tips and recommendations!
So that’s quite a location change from rincon! Lol. You will be close to one of the bioluminescent bays, definitely do that. The tours are done at night so not sure how the 2yr old would do.
There’s a hotel called the conquistador which is nice to go see, they have parrots.
There’s an island called palomino that you can take a boat to, it’s from the conquistador, not sure if you have be a guest to do it though.
There’s also the islands of vieques and culebra. You can do a ferry to go there. The beaches are beautiful!! Could be a day trip or just spend the night there.
Definitely go see el junquez
I don’t really have food recs for that area. There’s are some kiosks on the way to the bioluminescent bay we ate at once. Mostly vendors with awesome street food!
Ha, I know! My mom's boyfriend really wants to see the rain forest and it's too far from Rincon, so she found a place over there. I was just looking at the ferries for Vieques and Culebra, as well as the night tours of the bioluminescent bay. I think the boys are too young for that unless we do the boat ride, but we'll figure out a way to make it work. It looks really cool.

Hmm, I don’t know if there are boat rides, we had to paddle through mangroves. We laughed our asses off bc we kept running into things. And I think they aren’t supposed to use motors, it messes up the bay I think. There are 2 bays, I can’t speak for the other one but we did the one where you will be and there was no room for a boat with a motor.
I swear I read something about boat rides because kids under 6 can't do the kayak tours. In any case, I'm more than happy to let them sit that one out. There would be a lot of complaining I am sure. I think DH and I will try to go together one night and leave the kids with the others.

Definitely check out old San Juan and el motto. There are three great restaurants there too. Barrichino (best pina coladas) raices (best food) and the parrot club (best atmosphere).
We did a sailing excursion out of Fajardo. We used East West Excursions and went out to Icacos. It was my favorite day. Sailing, snorkeling, hanging on amazing beaches. Food and drink were provided. Super chill
I did the bioluminescent bay tour on Vieques island and highly recommend. It was seriously one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen/done on a trip. Even if you need to leave your kids behind, you and your husband should definitely do one of the night tours together, it’s amazing.
I have what is probably a really dumb question... we are leaving for PR on Friday. The plan is to eat out for some dinners here and there, but we'll probably mostly have lunch and breakfast at the house we're renting, so I'm putting together a grocery list. Can I expect the Costco there and grocery stores to have all the standard things we do on the mainland? Thinking some prepared Costco meals, stuff for sandwiches, probably fish tacos, yogurt and pancake stuff, that kind of thing. mofongo

Yes definitely! You also have to get mallorcas, they’re like big sweet bread rolls eaten for breakfast. I like them heated with butter and powdered sugar! The bakeries will have them.
Yum. Thanks! There's a breakfast/lunch pastry spot right on the beach near the house, so we'll for sure grab stuff from there.
