We had a new microwave installed over our stove yesterday by Lowes. Took out the old one, installed the new one and plugged it in, done in 15 minutes.
I noticed last night that two outlets on that same wall where the stove/microwave are, basically the ones on either side of the stove, are no longer working. I know nothing when it comes to this stuff, but could this have been something that happened during the microwave install? I guess I really don't understand what could have happened though.
I don't see any circuit breakers tripped. I was hesitant to mess around with them further though. Should I just try flipping the ones in that area to see if anything happens? I am worried I will damage something else by doing this, ha. If that's not how this works feel free to tell me.
I also checked our outlets that are GFCI and they all look fine, nothing tripped there.
It's not an emergency obviously but I'm annoyed because the one outlet is where I plug in our coffee pot. Any ideas? I don't know if I should call the installer back and ask if he could have possibly done something, but I wanted to see if I could resolve it myself first. Don't make fun of my lack of knowledge of this stuff
Yes, I'd call Lowe's back. It may be nothing, but that's not really your job to figure out. The issue happened with the installation, so they should come back and resolve it.

I would check your circuit breaker again. Find the kitchen ones and flip them off then back on again. Sometimes they go off, but it still looks on. A simple restart might be the trick. If that doesn’t work, or it continues to flip the breaker, call lowes back out there

How old was your old microwave? The reason I ask is that we put a new one in and it used more power than our old one and we had to have an electrician come out to split the outlets in the breaker box because they would trip.
I agree with puppylove64. Sometimes the breakers aren't fully tripped so they look like they aren't tripped. I don't believe you would do any damage by turning them fully off and back on again. If that doesn't work or trips the breaker again, i would call Lowes back.
Be prepared that they tell you to call your electrician because history for me has shown that they don't take much responsibility for their installs.

Look around the house for other GFCI outlets. I had two dining room outlets go out and turns out it was because a GFCI in the kitchen tripped. Maybe the bathroom or an outside outlet?
Right after I posted, Lowes actually called to see how the installation went and I told them about the outlets. They were going to contact the company who installed the microwave and send someone out.
In the meantime, I totally forgot we had a second breaker box in the basement, so I went to check that out. One kitchen breaker was clearly tripped and I reset it. Outlets are working now. I guess now my concern is what missmissy234 just said about the new one having too much power. I just used it for a few minutes though and all seemed OK.

Glad to see it worked and seems to be good now.
Be on the look out to see if your breakers trip while you're running the microwave while another appliance is working. My issue was that we couldn't run the microwave the same time the dishwasher was going. LOL Which made things slightly frustrating!
