I got mine 6 days before my 12th birthday (the day was a holiday - that's the only reason I remember). I was always the tallest kid in my class, starting in 1st grade (loved having to line up by height...jeez...) so I'm not certain I grew much beyond when my period started. Maybe a few inches if anything. I definitely was my height by 8th grade (5'10).

Nope. I got my when I was as 11 (6th grade) and stopped growing by the beginning of 7th. I’m 5’2”. I was always one of the taller kids until that point. Then I stopped growing and everyone passed me.

I got mine the week after I turned 10. I DID stop growing shortly afterward. That’s weird, I never thought of the correlation before! I had always been the tallest in the class at 5’4” and now I am one of the shortest at the same height.

I remember my BFF got hers in 4th grade. No idea how tall she was then, but now she is 5'8" and I doubt she was anywhere near that when she was in 4th grade! lol.
I think I got mine when I was 11 or 12 and I was probably 5'4 or 5'5. I am 5'9" now.
I stopped growing at 11 ( I am 5'11") but I did not get my period for another 3 years. I think that growth and periods are probably more anecdotal than anything else. And yes that did make me ridiculously tall for many years. To be honest, I do think the last 1/4 inch was gained later, but it is not enough to have noticed when it changed.

I got my period at 9 in the 3rd grade, I grew about a foot from the start to the end of that year. I was 4'11 at the end of 4th grade and am now 5'2 and a half.

I have not read all of the answers but I don’t remember what age I got my period. We (thankfully) had the day off of school and I think I remember a snow day. It was probably in 6/7th grade. I did grow taller. Even had a growth spurt when I was 16.
Am I the only person that does not remember when she got her period?
I stopped growing at around the same time. Based on my foot size and height at the time, everyone thought I’d be the tallest in my short family, but I’m the shortest. 5 feet tall with shoe size 7. I also stopped eating most meat at that time but wasn’t necessary eating the best protein replacement healthy diet so I always attributed that to why I suddenly stopped growing. I’m pretty sure my sisters got theirs and similar ages and continued growing into their mid-teens, but not more than a few inches and their heights make sense with our parents’ heights.
I always wonder the exact same thing when people post stuff about their childhoods. I think I was 9 or 10 when I got my period but couldn’t tell you the time of year and I certainly have no clue how tall I was. I do remember being rather big/tall for my age in elementary school, but then all the boys caught up and passed me. But I certainly don’t know when that happened. I’m 5’3”. So overall I think I must just have a horrible memory.
I actually even know the day because it was on my BFF cousin’s birthday and impacted a sleepover. But I think I would have remembered 9 anyway because no one else my age in my grade had it - though it’s a family trait, my mom, aunt and grandma were the same so it wasn’t weird to us and they told me it would happen.
I also lost my virginity on a holiday. Will make my memoirs much easier to write someday, lol.

I was 12 when I got my period. IIRC, I was around 5’7” and stopped growing at 14, and hit 5’9”. Dd2 was just shy of 11 when she got hers, and I think she was around 5’5”. She’s just around 5’7” and just turned 13. I don’t foresee her growing much at this point.
In 6th grade, a doctor told me he could tell I'd stopped growing because my hip bones had fused to something (after having grown 6 inches during the previous year). My period started a few months after. (on my first day of seventh grade at a new school. Fun.)

I don’t remember how tall I was when I started (6th grade) but I didn’t grow after I started high school.
Dd started summer between 5th and 6th. Until that point she was one of the tallest of her friends. Now, she’s one of the shortest. Our pediatrician told us they are usually down growing within 2 years of starting. Dd was hoping for one more growth spurt. She was just seen by an orthopedic doc for other reasons, and he casually mentioned her growth plates are closed while explaining her X-ray. She was pretty devastated. She’s 5’1.5”. Just a touch taller than me.
