We are going to get ceiling fans installed in all the bedrooms upstairs, but I am having a hard time deciding what to get.
All the bedroom ceilings (and the ceiling on the main floor) have intricate patterns (see photos). I really love them and want fans that won’t detract from the ceilings.
Our furniture is mainly clean lines/modern/MCM from Ikea and West Elm.
What fan would you install? Links greatly appreciated. Budget $150 or less per fan.
We just put white ones in the bedrooms at our new house. To me they're the most invisible fan and I like that the remote gives you lots of speed options, dimmer, etc.
Your ceiling are very pretty. Do the ridges and whatnot collect a lot of dust?
I'll be the first to admit that I am not the cleanest person in the world, but I haven't noticed them collecting dust. I'm looking at the ceiling above our dining room table right now (same pattern as our bedroom) and it doesn't look dusty at all. Probably helps that it's the ceiling vs the wall or something.
Thanks for the recs everyone. I like the squared off blade. I was initially thinking about going with a darker color, but I think white is probably the better bet to help it blend a bit more.
isabel - PM me your email address. I am sending you a Starbucks or Amazon gift card or SOMETHING. When I linked to the first fan I saw that it was on sale 47% off. Lowe's has a price adjustment policy for under 30 days. I bought two at full price *29* days ago. I just called them and they refunded me $178. I owe you a Coke.
We have this one in DS1’s room because he has bunk beds and this is the only safe fan option with the top bunk. It works for our purposes, but I wouldn’t use it otherwise. It’s basically a box fan. I much prefer a regular ceiling fan. It’s also really loud which works for white noise but may not be appreciated by everyone.
Ours is also haunted. It randomly turns on and off. LOL. Which is annoying when you notice at 3am your kid’s lights are on.

I like the *idea* of a bladeless fan, but the look is awkward. I don't really want a floor fan in my ceiling. lol

Yeah I agree. It looks fine in DS’ room but if it weren’t for the bunk beds I would have just done a regular white fan.
I don't have specific fan recs, but you mentioned not wanting something to detract from the ceiling. I actually think a cool looking fan that kind of stands out and contrasts against the white ceiling (like a black/bronze or silver) would draw the eye up more and make the ceilings more noticeable.

I'm glad you said this because I liked it enough that I was thinking about replacing all my ceiling fans with this. It's really hard to tell how loud or effective they are in the HD display area. My son bumps his in his bedroom every time he stretches.

Yeah I probably wouldn’t. It’s very loud on high. Very similar to those big box fans just hung on the ceiling. The light also isn’t as bright as I’d like. Great for a bunk bed situation though where obviously safety is paramount.
Without giving too much influence, I have purchased both of these and am curious if anyone has an opinion either way. DH feels like white will look cheap, so we moved away from that.
With the Harbor Breeze fan, we would use the oil rubbed bronze with reclaimed walnut blade. With the Hunter fan, we would use the brass antique with chocolate blade.

Update with installed fans! We’ll have to do some touch up paint around the bases of the fans because the paint is discolored from being under the lights that used to be there, but I’m thrilled that the pattern continues all the way through and we didn’t have to deal with fixing that. Loving the fans. I think they look great, don’t take away from the patterned ceilings, and they’re nice and quiet. You can already tell a difference in how cool the rooms feel with the extra circulation too.
