H was sick literally all week. He has had intestinal distress since Monday (he's mostly better today), but because I have school starting next week and I don't want to deal with a 19 month old with this illness, I've quarantined him to the bedroom and cleaned like a mad woman all week. I've also been solo parenting this week because of it. I am off today for one of the last days before we go back to school next week, and I was looking forward to a relaxing day with DS. We went to get our hair cut this morning, and when we got home, I misjudged the bottom of our driveway (they cut into it in preparation of repaving on Monday and didn't properly grade it) and tore the whole front bumper off my car. It's at the auto repair shop, and fortunately our insurance covers a rental, but it's just one more thing on top of an exhausting week!
6 year old drew on our plantation shutters with a pencil to “get back at” the babysitter she was mad at. I discovered it at bedtime. She hasn’t done something like this (drawn on a wall etc) since she was 2!

School started and I’m trying to be organized with meals. In the process I decided to try Walmart Grocery pickup. I LOATHE Walmart but decided that it was worth a try if I didn’t have to actually go in the store and deal with the place. Last week I tried it for the first time. order was delayed. I got it 1:15 late, after sitting in their parking lot for 30 minutes. Thought that maybe that was a fluke. Tried again tonight, Same story but worse. Get text that order isn’t ready, wait till end it the hour frame, drive to store anyway as it’s on the way home and I don’t want to have to backtrack. Call the pickup number get voicemail. Try again, she tells me it will be ready in 75 minutes. I could have done it myself twice in that time. Call customer service, he can do nothing, by the time I finish with him, they can’t even say 6pm, just they will email. 7:15 still nothing. I HATE WALMART. why did i this this would be different?! And now I have no alcohol AND I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow, GRRRR.
DH wants to do some bulk cooking tomorrow but I don’t want to spend a few hours cooking and then cleaning since I still need to go to a third store after going to 2 stores today. AND we have 6 loads of laundry to put away 🤦🏻♀️

I’m so sorry! I’ve been doing Walmart grocery pick up weekly for almost a year, and my order is always ready 10-15 minutes before the hour I specify. I have never had a late or wrong order. Is there a different store you can try?
Daycare called today... DS had a 101.5 fever. DH was already on the way to pick him up. Got him home and sure enough, rectal temp is 101. Gave him a bath and some Tylenol and put him to bed. He doesn't have any other symptoms-- no runny nose or cough, no gi issues. Really wondering what is causing the fever. And of course my mind goes to bad places. And I really hope that whatever it is he has he doesn't give to DD who is 2 months old.
Kindergarten starts Monday and we found out Friday we’re not in the bus service list (listed as walkers). Our neighbors all have service and the bus stop is literally in front of our house. Not impressed by Fairfax county schools right now....

How does that work on Day 1? Would they check a list when the kids get on?

They probably don't check names, but instead the number of kids that are supposed to be picked up at that stop.
simpsongal I'm sorry you have to deal with that on the first day of school!

And mine uses a billion plastic bags, like everything individually bagged. Then they tell me they won’t take the bags back to be recycled and can’t tell me how to use my reusable bags. I have about 367 plastic bags bundled together in my trunk right now, waiting until I get to a store that WILL recycle them since I did grocery pickup this summer with both kids home. Cannot wait to get back to my Aldi routine.
I need to cook and meal prep for the week tomorrow but I don’t want to. I’m dreading it, I have no idea why. I haven’t been doing this and week nights are chaos so I know I need to do it, I just don’t wanna.
I am 5 months pp and still feel like I’m...smelly. You know that oniony BO smell you get postpartum or is that just me? I shower twice a day and wear deodorant and lotion, but I stop feeling fresh by like mid-afternoon.
I need a house cleaner but it isn’t in the budget for the foreseeable future.

im not sure, my neighbors think they’ll let him on - I hope so (if only for the experience).

That’s really annoying! I asked at mine and they put my name On a list to not bag my groceries. They bag them in my reusable ones in my trunk. They forgot once and gave me a $5 off coupon. I hate Walmart too but they are pretty much the only option that isn’t a 35 min drive here. I’ve had a great experience with pick up but regret my decision when I go into the store every time. Ours is a neighborhood market too maybe that make a difference.

Yes! I asked the first time and they said there isn’t a way to tell them ahead of time, so they will bring them out to my car and take them out of the plastic bags to put into my reusable bags. But... if they don’t reuse the plastic bags or recycle them, they are just going to throw them away when they get back to the store? So what’s the point? It’s infuriating in 2019. LOL

That’s so dumb! I think my store literally has post it notes with non bagger names on them. Like....make a list and check it before you bag groceries?
Last time I was inside the cashier told me she didn’t know how I wanted my groceries packed in my reusable bags so I’d have to do it myself. I was like ummmmmm ok.

J basically had the exact same thing - and ended up being home 4 days this week for just a fever 🤦🏻♀️ Daycare thought a few of the kids had the same weird virus.

Mine has gotten MUCH better since I started complaining about the bags.

We have this too! There were apparently only 3 kids left in DDs class yesterday. For us it’s a lower respiratory/croupy kind of thing. The cough came after the fever started to resolve. I’m basically holding my breath and praying the 3 week old doesn’t get it.
Add me to the list of Walmart bag haters. We have so.many.
But our fred meyer just started offering pick up. I'm super excited. It does cost $5, but I can get better produce. And their app search is far superior.

Ugh, I hope it's gone by Monday. I don't think I can handle taking care of a whiny 17 month old and a 2 month old all day.
DH asked daycare about it and apparently there were a few kids sent home this week because of fevers as well. Weird.

humpforfree , YES, a billion bags!! (I just got my order.). Several bags had only 1 thing in it! One bag had a can of bean, and a can of corn ... only the corn was in its own bag, inside the bag with the beans.
Id love to figure out the environmental aspect, but at the moment, they can’t even get your groceries to you ON THE SAME DAY AS YOUR PICKUP DAY, SO.
VillainV , our chain grocery does pickup which I have used in the past. It was great service, but it’s not free. I guess you get what you pay for. They have 15 minute pickup slots and only let so many people schedule, so if they aren’t going to be able to get your your groceries, they don’t let you even schedule it for that time. I felt like the ordering process was very cumbersome, but it was admittedly 5 years ago and I’m sure it’s mcuh more user- friendly now. I just didn’t want to pay $100/yr. I tried it when it was new and they were doing free promos.
Eta: and they substituted chicken fajitas for the breakfast sausage I ordered. I declined it. Even the girl was like, “yeah, this makes no sense.”

H was sick this morning and we had told DD1 we would go peach picking. Cue me dragging both girls to the farm solo. It actually went fine - until we got back to the car and it didn’t start. So then we had to wait 45 minutes for a jump.
And I know it’s not H’s fault but I am so tired of never, ever getting a break. He’s great and will stay with the girls whenever - but just once I’d like a morning where I get 3 hours solo at the house with absolutely nothing to do. DD2 was EBF and refused to take a bottle so it limited my time away. And then she turned one in June so I’m not as tied to her but it’s just been go, go, go this summer.
I am at home at the girls so it just is a lot. And every now and then the girls and I will go somewhere - my sister, parents and he’ll be solo for a few days.
Again my rational side knows that none of this is fault - his family is a flight away, he was legitimately sick this morning. And I’m pretty sure if I told him I needed him to take the girls out for the morning he would - I just want him to read my mind and offer it. I guess I feel badly for wanting/needing the time.
So ultimately I’m just feeling burnt out and want H to fix it all and I’m totally not being fair to him in all of this.

I totally get this. I do. Do yourself a favor and just ask him. My life got significantly better when I got over wanting him to just do things. Once I said “I really need a few hours alone in the house this weekend, can we make that happen?” he jumped and made it happen. He wants to do stuff like that for me (and spending time with the kids is good too) he just needs a nudge.
mccallister84 , I am with you! I am totally burnt out, and no end in sight as H works all weekend (he typically doesn't but has upgrades to do). Of course, DS took a shorter nap than usual today. I'm just thankful that he's a good kid overall. Just exhausting as he's 19 months and full of energy!
Edit because I hit post too soon! I think you should ask for a break. I find if I wait for H to offer one, he never will, but is more than happy to give me one if I just ask. I hope you get some time to yourself soon!

Thanks. I’m so frustrated. Plus all of the rest have been run, but it’s been 2 hours and we are still waiting for results. My husband is bringing me the baby to nurse because it’s pretty empty here, and I have a big private room. I hope this isn’t a terrible idea.
