As a reminder, here's the tile I picked for the shower as a last-minute switch:
Looks like they put it in today, but haven't grouted it yet. Granted it was darkish in there, but it's looking REALLY dark and just kind of monocolor -- I feel like this batch of tile does not have the whitish edge on the tile that was evident in other samples.
I had planned to use a grout very similar to the tile color:
Do you think I should switch to a lighter grout, or am I just freaking out because there's no light in there right now and the tile with the same-color grout will look fine once the lights are on? There will also be a sun tunnel into the bathroom that is not installed yet.
Here's the same tile in my (well-lit) kitchen with white grout:
Should I switch to an off-white grout, or do you think I'll regret scrubbing white grout more than I will a monocolor tile?
UPDATE:
I went with off-white grout (Avalanche). I might be cursing myself later when everything is well-lit and I'm scrubbing, but for now I really think it lightens the whole space up.
I am firmly in the “no light shower grout” camp after my design choices in the first bathroom we remodeled. Looked great for a while, not so great after a few years.
I think either will look good. Bc the spacing is so small the grout is less of a feature. I think white might look more traditional and the color more modern. I think I’d stick with the color. You’ll still see dimension in the tile even with similar grout but it will be more subtle.

+1
I think with those thin grout lines in the shower it won't make that much of a difference visually... but there will be just enough white to be a PITA to clean.
Did they apply a sealant? If not, you can put one on the grout yourself before you start using the shower. Should help keep the grout brighter for longer.
It looks so good! Ugh. I can't wait to do our master bath renovation. With the window quotes we're getting, I think the bath might be farther off though.

I'll ask. :-) I know I should try to seal the marble tile which is on the floor...is the grout sealant a different product than the marble sealant?
