Omg. I don’t remember this from the other kids! DS3 is 33 pounds at 26 months and really needs to be in size 6 diaper. There are a measly 21 diapers in a small package, which I usually buy when there’s a deal so it’s cheaper than the boxes. . But DS gets changed about 5-6 times a day and I feel like I am constantly freaking buying diapers!!!! He has less than zero interest in the potty too!
Ugh My kid is still in 5s but I am so over it. He even announces when he’s going to go but refuses to go anywhere near the potty. COME ON KID. I am not looking forward to having two in diapers very soon.
The target brand bulk pack has a decent amount of diapers in each box. I order them online but they must have them in store because I do the store pick up most of the time. I don’t bother with anything smaller these days
Definitely buy whichever method is your lowest cost per diaper. For us it was either Costco, Amazon, or Target Up&Up when they had their gift card offers. This did mean having to make a fairly large/expensive purchase a few times a month, and I realize that doesn’t work for everyone. 5-6 diapers a day is fairly normal for that age. While I’m sure it feels like you’re burning through packs, you’re really using diapers at about the same rate as everyone else. My kid had no interest in potty training until almost 3.5, so I feel you on that.
We are potty training next weekend for this reason. Between the 2.5 year old and 6 month old twins, money is flying from our hands and getting covered in poop. We're going to feel rich when all three are eventually potty trained, and are all in school instead of daycare!
My ds is 2 and 26lbs and 4s are still great. (We use honest). Pampers size 4 was the largest size I bought for my daughter who didn’t potty train until almost 3.5. We did do size 5 for overnights. You are making me second guess how diapers should fit and maybe I should have moved up sizes 😳.

I think a lot of it depends upon build. Both of my girls are in size 4 - the 14 month old is 20 pounds. I have no idea how much the 2.75 year old weighs - she is slim though. She only needs a diaper at nap and overnight. She wears a 5 overnight diaper and a 4 during nap.

I just switched to size 5 for my 18 month old— she’s almost 27 lbs. she still fit in 4s, but her legs and belly are chunky so the 5s are just better especially at night. I’ve always used pampers swaddlers and occasionally target brand overnights. I’m over the prices too though. And I have a newborn coming in late January 🤦🏼♀️

Same. DS1 wore size 4 from the time he was 8 months until he potty trained at 3y 10m. He's a pretty average-sized kid, right around 50th percentile for weight and height. Maybe I should have sized up? 🤷🏻♀️
You'd know if they needed to size up starburst604 and kate1482 . Just like how you knew to size up in the smaller sizes when your kids were babies. My DS was pooping/peeing through the 4s and 5s but not the 6s. And the 4s/5s just got so tight. My DS pooped 6-8x/day until he potty trained so it was very easy to tell when a size wasn't working anymore.

Totally agree. My son is shorter and chunky so 6s it is! I actually don’t think my other boys may have been ever gone to 6s and they didn’t potty train until 3.
My 27 month olds have been in size 6 for like a year lol. They’re 30 and 28 pounds. Thankfully we’re able to make them work for both. Diapers don’t bother me too much as they’re nowhere near ready for potty training, but I have to buy two kinds which drives me nuts! And it gets expensive!
We use the Pampers Cruisers during the day and have to use Huggies Overnights at night otherwise they wake up wet. I can get big cases of 90 something Pampers but those stupid Huggies only come in boxes of 50 something. So I buy on average 4 cases of diapers a MONTH.
My DD (26 months) is in size 4. I think she’s showing some interest in potty training - she likes a potty book my sister bought her, she sometimes announces when she’s pooped, she wipes herself in the bath and on the changing table - but I need to get the ball rolling and get a potty ring and start putting her on the toilet.
My sister nannies for a boy who is 27 months old. He wears size 7 diapers. Sometimes we do play dates with the two of them and it’s hilarious to see them stand next to each other since the height difference is so drastic.

DS2 is huge, he's 13 months and ~28 lbs and has been in 5s for a while. DS1 was in 5s when he potty trained a little past 2.5. So 6s and 7s are going to be new to me, and it seems like we will be in them for a long time. I sure hope he wants to potty train early!

I think this will be DD2 as well! DD1 was in 5s when she PTed at 2.75. I have a ton left. DD1 just started size 4 AT 10 MONTHS OLD. She's small too, so I don't get it. And she currently fills a size 4 diaper up with one pee, so I think we will be sizing up again pretty soon. Maybe we will try to PT her early....
Diaper sizing is so variable by brand and by kids' shapes. We use Bambo diapers and my kid is a GIANT (size 4T/5T at 2y8m) and still plenty of room in size 5.
We ran out of his last enormous carton a few days ago, and I am crossing my fingers that we don't have to buy another. We are going to try PT this long weekend, so I just grabbed a small pack of Pampers at CVS.

Lol yup, since my kid is only a month older, still wears 24m clothes, and is also a size 5 (in Target brand).
Good luck with the potty training! I fear DS is gonna be in diapers for another 6 months at least.

Thanks. I am not feeling all that confident since he really doesn't seem to care that he's still in diapers even though a lot of his friends at school have PTd. But here's hoping...I just want to get it over with.
