DS has his first football game on Saturday. He is QB again this year, which makes me nervous, because he's a target for being tackled.
DD has her first game for sideline cheer on Saturday as well. We'll see how it goes. She told me last week she was feeling "meh" about cheer. (After only 3 practices and no games.)
DD's practices got moved. Instead of M, Tu, Th 3:15-6:15 they are now Tu, Th, Fr 4-7. DD had a hard time last night between the 1st day of school tired and practicing at bedtime. I told her coach afterwards that she will have an adjustment period for sure as bedtime is normally 7-7:30 and her coach assured me this is a normal issue when the girls move to team. It was really cool that the optional level girls backed DD up that practice still messes with their sleep and most of them are high schoolers who stay up past 8pm anyways.
Plan for DD is to try and be in bed by 8 on gym nights and earlier bedtime on non gym nights. Will see how it goes. DH thinks she should stay up until 9 or later each night but then he isn't home in the morning for her to not want to get up or sees her dragging and cranky. Funny part is when I married DH he was in bed before 9 all the time but got up at 4am to watch TV. Now he stays up late to watch TV and still gets up early.

I'm afraid its going to be another "rainy" season for DD's soccer team this fall, ugh! If we get rained out this Saturday, that will be the 2nd game rained out already & i think our season only lasts until mid-October. I hope they do schedule some make-up games so I feel like we are getting our money's worth!
I am going to register DS (6) for basketball for this winter and I'm super pumped about it! I think it is going to be super cute!
All soccer here. DS1 practices are M/Wed and DD are T/Thurs and then both kids have Saturday games.
DS1 is having a hard time with soccer. He just started kindergarten and his practices aren't until 4:30 pm, and he's just exhausted by then. DD also distracts him, so we're trying to keep her away from his practices and games, but that is a challenge.

The youth program is finally up and running in my area so DS is now signed up for soccer. It's like herding cats for the coach with 12 boys on a soccer field during practice. I feel bad that I'm going to miss his first game this weekend since I'll be flying to New Orleans for work.

DS starts hockey evaluations this weekend. It's 4 consecutive weekends of evaluations before we find out what time he is on, and then the schedule. I always knew hockey was a crazy time-commitment sport, but man, I still feel like it's insane.
My oldest moved up in swim, so practices are longer and there is now an attendance requirement. She needs to have 80% attendance. I'm struggling with logistics and hope to find a carpool since my youngest is signed up for two extra classes at daycare from 5-5:45, and swim team is at the college campus 4:30-6:30. It takes 20 minutes to drive to practice, but when I go back to pick my youngest up, it took nearly an hour. Then we had to get back in traffic, and drive back to pick up from swim. This is the first week, so I'm trying to be patient, but this is definitely not going to work for the long term.
We just got DS's soccer team assignment, so I know the coach's name and the kids on the team, but there is no schedule yet. No idea when the games are....and it starts in like 2 weeks....
mae0111, oh and Mae since we talked about it before, DH is coaching soccer this season! I was super surprised, and he is doing the older (read harder) kids. Harder because they have longer games and way more running because it is a bigger field.

Good for him!! I remember him being a dedicated coach - they are lucky to have him 😊
This season is my Soccer Swan Song. 2nd grade means positions and having to understand the game. Too much for me! 😂
edwardo123, that sounds awful. Is stopping the daycare classes also an option?
Yes, I was hoping to carpool with another family on the team who lives in our subdivision. Unfortunately, they are not interested. I knew it was a long shot because both parents come to every practice and stay to watch, sometimes bringing their own stopwatch and binoculars. They said no because this was their family time? So, now I will probably cancel the daycare classes after this month.
edwardo123 , I get they have the right to say no. But swim practice is family time? And how is bringing an extra child one way impeding on that? I mean the child then goes and practices. Are they having deep philosophical conversations on the car ride over there? (Rhetorical Q).

The family already annoys me. They're really smug and all conversations with them are about daughter. Even more reason to avoid them.
DS is still fencing. DD is not doing soccer this fall bc my H will be sent away to another base and we won’t see him for a month. She’s doing Girls on the Run at school.
Little DS is only 4, and he’s the third kid so he gets nothing.
I’m in the middle of my 3 hour required online training to coach 1st grade soccer. No wonder no one wants to volunteer.
This is how I felt about the 101 courses required to run a Girl Scout troop.
Yes boyscouts had a really long "don't abuse kids" course that all the parents had to take....of course with all their problems maybe it wasn't long enough...
I'm just lurking in here. DS is doing Karate and swim lessons and that's it. DD is doing ballet and once a week little kids gymnastics. It's nice!!!

I have run morning mile club with the kid and am now very sweaty. I am glad I can attend this particular “parents welcome” event and I am even more glad I can only attend twice a month.
I’m about to sign both kids up for Tae Kwon Do twice a week at school. Cue “Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting.” The Cee Low Green version, preferably, please.
DD2 started soccer today. I coached her first game - aside from 50° and raining, it was great!
Second game was in the town where the school is. Moms are super clique-y. I was talking to one and she walked away while I was mid-sentence because she saw someone else, and never came back. So I stayed by myself, which I honestly prefer. No one cheered for the other team. It was weird. I mean, they’re 6. I cheer for everyone.
Also, coach in the second game insisted that all players feed his kid the ball. DD passed when it made sense, shot when it didn’t. She had fun - that’s all that matters. Allege really cared about was hitting the playground after the game anyway. 😂.
First soccer games here today and opposite of your weather mae0111 - it felt really hot here even in the shade. DD’s team lost 1-0 and DD was goalie when the goal was made. This is their first year having goalies and luckily she doesn’t seem to care.
Apparently a parent from DD’s team invited everyone for a pol party after, and I just found the email in my junk mail. Not sure if we would have gone anyway since it’s DS2’s naptime and DH is at DS1’s soccer game, but we probably could have worked it out with my parents helping if I’d known about it in advance. Oh well.

DS was super proud of a tackle he made in his game on Saturday. He called himself a "dangerous crocodile." LOL. (The new way kids are being taught to tackle (at least where we are) is low (waist/legs) and then roll like a crocodile.)
DD is not "meh" about cheer anymore. She had a great time at the game she cheered on Saturday.
DD1 - started XC two weeks ago, but that's easy. One night a week for practice and then a few meets next month. Swim starts today. Back to 3 hours in the pool, 5 nights a week. Meets start late next month.
DD2 - Just got moved up to level 3 in gymnastics, so she does that 2 nights a week. Isn't competing yet, thank god. Also moved up a level in swim. She swims 3-4 nights a week for an hour. Will do all the same meets her sister does.
DD3 - Does 1 day a week of a 3 year old gymnastics class.
This will be our sports schedule from now until late March. Thankfully, we have great carpools that really help and we don't have to stay for these long swim practices. And for the first time ever, my two swimmer are done at the pool at the same time! Thank the good Lord!
We are back into the swing of things so I'm ready to jump in again. DD1 has soccer practice 2x week and games Saturday morning. The farthest game is 50 minutes away. We carpool so I only need to drive one day for practice which helps a ton. She is also in Girl Scouts one day per month. DD2 is taking a dance class at the Y so no driving required. We will just walk over to her class after daycare.
DD1 is in U8 for soccer and I'm not sure how I feel about this league yet. It's all about player development so they play 4 vs 4 and the coaches don't coach during play. Practice are mostly fun ball activities and then they scrimmage 4 vs. 4. DD1 isn't really learning any of the positions yet. In contrast, the spring league was ultra competitive and her coach already put them in positions. I need something in the middle of the two.
