I just booked our March trip last night. I was thinking of stockpiling some Disney GC's. Can I use those at dining establishments inside the park? Did you have any problems using them anywhere?
Yes-and no, no problems. We just got back a couple weeks ago and I used a GC exclusively. Combine them online and then you only have to keep track of one.

This is great - thank you! I had no idea you could do that and last year we carried around a stack of them.

We aren't fancy and aren't doing Magic bands. We are doing a "budget" trip and are staying at a Good Neighbor hotel outside the park. And not eating every meal in the park if we can.
We are trying to keep everything under $4000 for a family of 4 if we can. I am realllllllly trying hard not to buy ears or special shirts but dang, it's hard.
Can you charge to your magic band and go down every night and pay the balance with the gift cards?

I’m not sure I’m understanding - but our trip is through DVC and we bought tickets through undercover tourist so there was no balance to pay. The only thing we can pay for with gift cards are food and souvenirs.

You probably know this but just in case you don’t... you can bring in food/drinks. Even just bringing in your own water and some snacks can help cut down on costs.
I would consider picking one (ears or shirts) and getting some from Etsy. It would definitely be cheaper then deciding to buy them once you are there. I can recommend a couple shops for shirts but have not purchased any ears.

Yes, you can make payments on hotel room or package reservations with gift cards. IIRC, to pay the balance on a room only reservation before check-in, I had to make a phone call, but I was able to make the payment through the automated phone system.

If you’ll have a car, consider hitting up Walmart or Target near the park — they sell tons of Disney souvenirs for about 1/3 of what you’d pay in the park. Maybe you could give each kid a small gift card ($20?) to spend on actual souvenirs in the park, and get the rest from Walmart?
