DD and her cousin are flower girls in BIL's wedding. BIL and SIL (or soon to be) bought the girls dresses in advance, but apparently we don't know our kid, because they didn't buy the size DH asked them to buy. (Maybe they only had two sizes bigger and they thought it would work? I don't know.)
So now, I need to buy a new dress. I have no guidance from BIL or SIL, just to have her "wear a dress that looks like a flower girl" and "there are no uniforms in their wedding." Apparently their wedding color is blue (any blue, it doesn't matter, its not uniform). Their website lists wedding attire as "sundresses, floral prints, suits in lighter hues, fun hats, or anything bright and fun), but I'm pretty sure DH (best man) is planning on wearing his tux?
I don't deal well with this lack of direction (obviously), but I'm done asking them questions. I think it at least makes sense to have her coordinate with her cousin, and if that doesn't work, I'll just end up buying one for her cousin as well. Any recommendations on where to shop? Original dresses were like $15 each (Costco), and I'd rather not spend a ton, especially if I might end up buying two.
mommyatty, I picked a picture of it so you could see the dress.. girl doesn't stand still for anything. With her arms down, the armholes are realllllly low. And I'm pretty sure 6 year old side boob isn't the look they're going for even if they don't know what look they're going for.
And on those dresses, would you do blue to go with their general scheme or pink/cream to go with the scheme of what they already sent?
I had looked at the first one, but my indecision set in and I was worried that white could potentially clash with SIL's dress. Since I have no idea if she's white, cream, ivory, whatever.

k3am, lol to 6 yo side boob. Yeah, that’s a deal killer! I like the first dress best. Both blue and pink are super cute. I’d shoot a pic of both color options to SIL and ask if she likes them and has a preference between pink and blue. That gives her a chance to point out if the color clashes with her dress.
Btw, she’s so cute. I can’t believe how much she’s grown!

k3am, I don't do well without specific direction in these types of situations, so I feel you! I would lean toward a solid color (like the second dress mommyatty linked), because I would also be wary of the white/cream/ivory situation too.
Would it be cheaper to have a tailor chop up this dress to make it smaller, rather than buying a new one?
We had to do this to DD's JrK graduation dress. It ended up being close to $30 just to adjust the length of the straps. I'm not sure how much of that was the normal charge vs. the "we need it done in quick" charge.
They all seem like they'd kind of coordinate with her cousin's dress, and if not, they're each available in her cousin's size. Fingers crossed something works.. I still have to figure out what I'm going to wear. But I'm not in the wedding, so that doesn't really matter.

Can't you order stuff online at Costco? I would expect that you could order it to store and then do the exchange when you pick it up (but maybe call first). FYI, you do not need a Costco membership to do returns and exchanges.
ETA: I'm pretty sure we have this dress. What size? Want me to ship it to you?

I feel like arm holes are difficult to make smaller. Whenever they had to do something for me, they had to put darts in the bodice and then yes that probably would be min $20-$30.

Yeah, if it was a lower neckline you could probably just cut across the top/shoulder and pull it up, but that would be tough on this dress.

They ordered it sometime last spring. I've already checked in store and online. We actually have a couple other Costco dresses that would coordinate well.. but they've got rips and snags because tulle is not designed for playing in and I'm not throwing out a dress she only wears at home or with MIL.
She's a 6.. if none of these work, I may take you up on it if you have it.
Our girls are flower girls in a wedding on Friday and this is the dress they're wearing. I went with tea length so I wouldn't have to worry about hemming DD1's.
My kids would be jealous of your kids for getting to be in weddings! They've never been to a wedding and probably won't have an opportunity as kids. We have a small family and everyone of marriage-able age is already married.
I agree with your SIL that the girls should match. And since the dress that your BIL/FSIL originally purchased has a flowered bodice, I'd probably look for something like that. Not sure what sizes your need or your budget, but I love both of these:

They sell really cheap kids suits on Amazon. We ordered multiple sizes on Amazon, returned the one that didn’t fit as well, and he only wore it once. They also have less formal boy options. Search “toddler boy ring bearer outfit”. Example

k3am, sometimes I think the penis acts as some sort of lightning rod that causes interference among the brain, mouth, and ears. Like he heard it from his brother, but then something happened where his penis likethrew electrical currents or something, and then his brain only thought the message left his mouth and got to you. Just a working hypothesis based on field studies of men in the wild.
