I totally, completely agree with 1-5, and I don't think it absolves him of anything. I hoped I made that clear initially.
I do think he has dementia, though. Not because of anything he's said in his entire presidency though. I think he's the the same dumb, racist, narcissist he's always been, just one with dementia. He seems to be displaying a lot of the classic physical symptoms... Like how he's dragging his leg lately, or how he just kind of wandered off that speech/presser (I forget what it was specifically), or how on that tarmac he seemed to have absolutely no idea where he was or where he was going.
My larger concern too, as I've said before, is that mental health and health in general is the Bad Boy White Male behavior excuse. Like, there has to be something else wrong because nothing else makes sense.
Maybe he could, but the way all of this gets played out is that everything he does gets overlooked because he has this larger excuse. We don't give other people the same grace when it comes to illness, so I'm not giving 45 any.
ETA- not you personally, just in general the public and media will give him a pass because it's the easiest thing to do vs. holding this erratic nut accountable for his actions.
That's fair, and if that happens with him once he's dead and/or out of office, that will not be deserved. He absolutely should be remembered as terrible as he is.
Rudy Giuliani said that he personally gave Mike Pompeo a file of documents with unproven allegations against Biden and was told that the State Department would take up an investigation of those claims.

I do not buy the dementia and am with NitaX - claiming dementia for racist, sexist, classist, xenophobic, and idiotic statements and tweets results in many issues for me... not to mention that we arm-chair diagnose things like this as if we need an explanation as to why someone can be so horrible. We don't need the explanation - he is just showing exactly who he is, and we* still voted him into office.
my oldest aunt was a terrible racist person. she also had dementia towards the end. it doesn't mean she wasn't still a terrible person. it just means she was both.

I agree with you. I mean, it sounds so damn simple, but here we are. We should elect neither a racist nor someone with dementia. Period.

His speech has gotten noticeably worse. He's wandered off. He can't close an umbrella. He's the same terrible person he's always been, but I do think he's showing mental decline on top of it.
Almost every “proof” of Trump having dementia listed here can also be explained by an entitled old man used to having other people do things for him.
When he’s done with something, he walks away. He doesn’t care about how a stage is set up, only that he’s in the front center of it. How many umbrellas has a New Yorker with a car service ever opened? Is he walking his golf courses or being driven in a cart?
He’s fully there (mentally), he’s just a lazy asshole who doesn’t give a fuck.

This. The two are not mutually exclusive and one does not excuse the other.
I know there are many people out there who use it as an excuse to give him a pass for his terrible behavior, and that is disgusting for many reasons, but I don't think that's where anyone on this board is coming from. His cognitive decline is a whole 'nother layer of REALLY FUCKING SCARY piled on top of his bigotry, narcissism, greed, etc.
In newly disclosed texts shared with Congress and obtained by ABC News, the top U.S. diplomat to Ukraine at the time writes to a group of other American diplomats: "I think it's crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign."
He was nuts on the apprentice. When was that? 2003? It worked in his favor on TV though. He was born an ass hole. Has there ever been a nice story or anecdote about him? Maybe he has NPD? 🤷♀️ Maybe all fascist dictators do?
President Zelensky of Ukraine has agreed to grant autonomy to two breakaway republics in a landmark deal aimed at ending a five-year conflict that has killed more than 13,000 people.
The two “people’s republics”, in the eastern Donbass region, will assume self-governing status after elections deemed to be free of Kremlin influence.
The agreement was signed in Minsk on Tuesday by Russia, Ukraine, separatist officials and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

Yeah - I don't for one second believe that this absolves him of any of racist, sexist, narcissistic bullshit. There seems to be some physical issues that have popped up over the last few years that highlight other issues that don't excuse the base layer disgusting human being that he is.
What really puts us up shit’s creek is if Biden doesn’t get the nom, Trump will think his tactics worked and will continue to use the office of the presidency to subvert the nominee. If Biden is the nominee this will haunt him in the general.
Sarah Kendzior has said over and over again that doing crimes openly is a show of strength for authoritarians. It’s a big “FU, whatcha gonna do about it??”
I have a FB friend who has Trump supporters posting on his page and he's basically said that the two that post pro-Trump stuff truly want an authoritarian asshole who shits on the people they don't like while having no clue that he's actually shitting on them.

Ok, so what is the response to the talking point that Trump is just asking foreign governments to investigate Biden and/or his son because he is still obsessed with the Obama administration and obsessed with proving they were somehow corrupt? And that any blowback on Bidens campaign is a side effect, but the main goal is to show how bad Obama and his administration were?
This is the WB who filed a complaint a few months ago. The details that it's about an appointee interfering in the IRS audit of Trump or Pence is new information.

Thank you. My brain is mush. I can’t keep these complaints straight.
WSJ: Trump ordered the removal of the ambassador to Ukraine after months of complaints from allies outside the admin, including Giuliani, that she was undermining him abroad and obstructing efforts to persuade Kyiv to investigate Biden.
CNN is reporting that there’s a June call with Xi of China where he pushed for a Biden investigation in exchange for trade negotiations and silence on the Hong Kong protests. He also brought up Warren in an offhand way. Fucking ridiculous.
U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday offered a full-throated defense of President Donald Trump's call for an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son's dealings with Ukraine, saying the American people deserve to know the facts.
"The American people have the right to know whether or not the vice president of the United States or his family profited from his position," Pence told reporters in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Two of Trump's top envoys to Ukraine drafted a statement for Volodymyr Zelensky in August that would have committed Ukraine to pursuing investigations sought by Trump into his political rivals, three people briefed on the effort said.
