In the midst of the Syrian crisis, #45 reminds us of his complete & utter lack of empathy: he tweeted last night encouraging people to vote for Sean Spicer on Dancing With the Stars. I want to punch the people who voted for him because of the need for someone new/ not entrenched in Washington politics. He has absolutely no idea what he’s doing, nor does he care.
"International Man of Stupidity Rudy Giuliani is back at it again, folks. It's been a rough ride over the last few weeks for the artist formerly known as America's Mayor, though he long ago squandered any goodwill still remaining from the period in his life when he was graded on a curve. Giuliani, you see, has gotten himself deeply embroiled in the president's latest impeachable offense, a shakedown of the Ukrainian government for Donald Trump's personal political gain. While the president himself was asking Ukraine's president for a "favor"—to dig up dirt on Joe Biden and muddy the waters around Russia's attack on the 2016 election—and Trump's "diplomats" were making it clear to the Ukrainians that the military aid they needed was contingent on this "deliverable," Giuliani had his own role.
....
President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, was paid $500,000 for work he did for a company co-founded by the Ukrainian-American businessman arrested last week on campaign finance charges, Giuliani told Reuters on Monday. "
We could short hand this whole administration as Corruption Guarantee.
(Reuters) - “A U.S. appeals court on Tuesday said it would reconsider an earlier ruling that handed victory to U.S. President Donald Trump in a Democratic-backed lawsuit that accuses him of violating anti-corruption provisions of the U.S. Constitution with his Washington hotel.”
Rudy Giuliani privately urged Trump in 2017 to extradite a Turkish cleric living in exile in the U.S., a top priority of Turkish President Erdogan, according to multiple former administration officials familiar with the discussions.

So Harry Dunn’s parents (young English man, who was killed by American woman driving on the wrong side of the road) were invited to the White House to meet #45. Luckily, they were tipped off that their son’s killer was going to be waiting in the next room. In front of THE PRESS CORPS who had also been gathered. I have no words for the egregious insensitivity of this “made for TV moment” that was planned by this administration. 😐 (They’ve said they’ll meet with her, just on UK soil under their terms) Harry Dunn's parents reject Trump offer to meet suspect at White House www.bbc.com/news/amp/uk-england-northamptonshire-50064595 Harry’s mother (tweet)

WTAF?! Does the Trump administration think they are hosting a sick, twisted game show? This is awful! I just don't see any scenario where this makes sense.

Which will drag out for how long? How does that process work? Can either side appeal it all the way up if need be?
No, if they don't comply and don't show up when they are subpoenaed they can and should be have a warrant taken out on them then arrested like if any one of us just didn't just show up. They can be held in contempt indefinitely until they agree to testify. This was the whole reason the courts were given subpoena powers, so they need to fucking use it.

I read that the reason the dems aren't using the courts to enforce these subpoenas is because they don't want to let the administration bog them down in any more litigation than necessary. They are just going to add all these things to the counts of obstruction. In other words, they are choosing to focus on getting Trump out of office rather than focusing on trying to get to the bottom of it.
I don't know if I necessarily agree that this is the best approach, but I also can understand why they are doing it.
I'll be interested to see what they do with Pence though. I want them to push the envelope on him.

I've been following that story and apparently Sacoolas will cooperate, maybe? I understand the need for diplomatic immunity but it sounds like she wasn't/isn't entitled to it so she needs to face justice.
Rudy Giuliani privately urged Trump in 2017 to extradite a Turkish cleric living in exile in the U.S., a top priority of Turkish President Erdogan, according to multiple former administration officials familiar with the discussions.
Instead, Mulvaney put an unlikely trio in charge of managing the U.S.-Ukraine account amid worrisome signs of a new priority, congressional officials said Tuesday: pressuring the fledgling government in Kiev to deliver material that would be politically valuable to President Trump.
The work of those “three amigos,” as they came to call themselves — diplomats Gordon Sondland and Kurt Volker, plus Energy Secretary Rick Perry — has come to light in recent days through newly disclosed text messages and the testimony of government witnesses appearing before an impeachment inquiry in Congress.

But what litigation? They don't show, they ask a judge to issue a bench warrant ( it is not like the defense can argue ), arrest them and throw their ass in jail for contempt. There literally is nothing to litigate and contempt is the only charge where someone can be held indefinitely. This administration has shit on most laws and it is bullshit that the Dems do nothing about it when Congress has subpoena powers. I just don't get this line of thinking.
I'm so disgusted by the ambush of the Dunn family. What in the actual fuck? Does literally nobody in this administration have a single bit of empathy and rationality in them? My God.

Now I want to know what shady shit is going on in the background to make them do this. Why are they going to great lengths to protect her? Why is Trump even involved? There has to be a reason. Otherwise he would have just ignored this issue all together.

I suspect there isn't much to it except that according to the Brits, she supposedly assured investigators there that she would remain there and then left. So the British media is all over this and Trump got involved because he's Donald Trump and loves being the hero in front of the media.

If this is an option, I'm very disappointed they're not following through on it. I don't see how it's of any use to issue subpoenas and then do nothing about it when people don't comply.

I agree with this. She had (has?) diplomatic immunity. Trump's only in on it because he wanted to play the hero.
