Should we start a pool on how long until Mulvaney is gone?
Today was exhausting. I didn’t think the Trumpturds could top all the winning from yesterday, but holy shit. This dumpster fire is rolling down hill at quite a clip.
I don’t care if it’s done at cost and he doesn’t make money from this event. It’s the absolute best advertising in the world. He absolutely benefits monetarily from this.
At "cost"? Sure. The "cost" will include profit somehow.
How do you guesstimate the "cost" of a room? That alone is built-in profit.
At the Al Smith Memorial Foundation dinner on Thursday, Mattis opened his speech with a caustic blow about his deferment from the military during the Vietnam War.
"I earned my spurs on the battlefield; Donald Trump earned his spurs from the doctor” he said.

I glad Gen. Mattis finally found something he could take a stand on. There are not enough eye rolls in the world, buddy.
I was WFH yesterday and flipped on the tv upstairs, and it was on CNN during Trump's press conference. The sheer disconnect between him talking about all the winning in Turkey while the breaking news chryon read "White House confirms quid pro quo with Ukraine" was staggering.
There is absolutely zero chance that Trump is having the summit at his resort if it won't profit him. Absolutely zero. Lying shitbag continues to be a lying shitbag.
And his asshole supporters continue to believe all the shit he shovels into their mouths.
This reminds me that Farenthold (linked above) warned that Trump’s businesses failing will be more of a danger to national security than them thriving. He’s more susceptible to blackmail and bribes right now. Farenthold has really carved out a niche in tracking Trump’s businesses and how he’s profiting from his office.

Also this:
More than 50 percent of GOP senators—27 of 53—have either spent campaign funds or been spotted at Trump’s DC hotel.

I just can't comprehend that there is no recourse for this. This seems textbook emoluments clause. Are no GOP senators willing to follow the Constitution? And are that many of his supporters so rabid that they would abandon the republican party if Trump was replaced with someone less dangerous?
the cult like aspect of trump is what i can’t comprehend. There is nothing charismatic about him.

I didn't full understand why so many people loved Trump (and not just a pros out weight cons thing, but they actually think Trump as a person is great) until I read this article www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2019/01/charles-duhigg-american-anger/576424/ As Averill watched, he felt a shock of recognition. Everyone believed Trump would be out of the race soon. But Averill wasn’t so sure. “He understands anger,” he thought to himself, “and it’s going to make voters feel wonderful.”

I went to the Fox politics FB page yesterday out of morbid curiosity and it is FULL of people (assuming they are real people) talking about how Doral is a first-class establishment, all his properties are great, it makes total sense to have it there, that Trump doesn't get paid/donates his presidential salary and therefore is not making any money off this, while also insisting that it will save taxpayer money to have it there because it's already wired for security, etc.
I mean ... they can't all be bots. And they are just shrugging. They really don't care, or they think it's a GOOD THING. And this is a prime example of why you DO pay a president a salary, so that he/she isn't tempted to do things like this to personally enrich themselves. But there are so, so many people out there who can somehow convince themselves that it's either 1) not adding to Trump's wealth or 2) it's just fine even if it does.
I think I am just really out of touch with the number of people who simply take him at his word. The gold-leaf tackiness impresses them, and the vulgarity appeals to them; they see him as classy yet relatable. They seem to really, truly think he's a smart businessman and believe he is doing right by the country rather than himself. I honestly don't know if anything can penetrate that level of being taken in, because they will question everyone EXCEPT 45. If he said, "We won the trade war with China," "there's no ISIS problem any more" or a hundred other flat-out lies, they would believe him. And no amount of facts to the contrary would convince them.

In addition to what hocus2 posted, it has nothing to do with charisma. He hates everything and everyone they do, and is willing to act on it and tell people that it is good and just. That’s basically it.

While I know the caliber of people we're talking about - this whole "he donated his salary!!!" thing is STILL holding water?!?. First, didn't he only do it once? Second, when you're as rich as he (claims he) is - of course his salary isn't really needed.
I wish they'd ask, though, HOW ELSE he's charitable. Because he's KNOWN for claiming to have donated to charity but there's no actual proof.
But of course they don't care about anything past what he SAYS is truth.

He tells them that it's ok to be racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, and non-PC, which basically makes him their hero.

Associates of a Ukrainian oligarch fighting extradition to the US were working to dig up dirt on Biden last summer in an effort to get Rudy Giuliani's help in the oligarch's legal case, according to three people familiar with the exchanges.
So kasich said that after hearing Mulvaneys comments he decided he is for impeachment because hearing 45 asking for a favor on a call wasn’t enough evidence.
