@nitax I assumed that was what you were bringing up, and I don't think she's "too" polished. Its not a criticism. I think she has a different vibe when she's the front runner in a race, but I'm also willing to chalk a lot of it up to her portrayal in the media. And yes, I did feel the same about HRC.
Ok. That makes sense with HRC because She has never been warm and fuzzy for people. In fact, that's what I loved about HRC because she reminds me of a black woman in her nonsense demeanor.
I don't think anyone with a laugh like Kamala Harris can be described as not warm or engaging. I do agree she's getting a raw deal in the media in not entirely surprising ways that have an impact on her perceived relatability.
And I agree with NitaX that her work as a prosecutor is being portrayed in ways I sometimes find perplexing. It can't be that we want all prosecutors to be hardline right wingers blind to the effects of race on how justice is meted out. I absolutely believe that the system is broken, but disrupting from the outside isn't the only way to try to fix it. And living in the US means avoiding the system entirely is nearly impossible. That says, to me, we should be glad we have some prosecutors with a mindset and background like Harris.
I think Harris and Warren present pretty similarly in non-debate settings. They are both practical, thoughtful, and authentic. Harris is a little funnier I think, and Warren does more self-disclosure, but it works for both of them in terms of being "warm" and "engaging" whatever those things mean (and no one ever gives a flying fuck if shouty Bernard or Handsy Joe are either of those things).
Kamala is a total bad ass in the debates although I think she get stuck sometimes when she should let go.
Elizabeth does the dorky wonky vibe which often works well but sometimes comes across condescending, much like HRC. (B&B are off the charts condescending but no one cares about that either.)
I think this is why I struggle to choose between them. Similar in a lot of ways. Both have flaws obviously, but some of their differences are things I like about both of them. I love Kamala's no bullshit no prisoners mode. I have also been totally sucked in to the Warren-Has-A-Plan-For-That hype.
Harris absolutely is absolutely warm and joyful. I’ve met her a few times at events, and she has a way of making you feel like you are the only person in the room. Each time, she’s taken my hands, looked me in the eye, and listened to me. With hundreds of people around us, I Know she was focused on me and things I wanted to tell her.

My top three are Harris, Castro, and Booker. I will happily vote for Warren in the general, and actually like her almost as much as Harris (who has been my top choice since the beginning), but I've decided I really want her to take over the leadership role from Schumer and push the Senate. Which - bonus! - also saves us from whatever dingdong Republican Baker nominates as placeholder.
The part about Harris's prosecutor background that gets lost is that her speciality when she was working in the DA's office was sex crimes. She was putting rapists and @@@ child molesters in prison. She was advocating for women, especially women of color, who often don't see justice when they are victims of these crimes. Same goes for children, and the LGBT community.
I support criminal justice reform. But that conversation cannot happen in a vacuum, removed from our conversations about how we protect people sexual assault and how we hold rapists accountable.
The people who are complaining about Harris locking up black men need to be asked why those black men didn't belong in prison for raping black women, or why their black victims didn't deserve to see their assailant locked up for as long as he'd be locked up for raping a white woman.
As for her warmth, I don't see how it's lacking at all. Everything from the way she talks about the @kids in the cages to the videos of her cooking exudes such a kind, warm human being. And if you really want to tear up, go find some stories from the LBGT community from when she was at the San Francisco city hall, marrying and hugging anyone who walked in, during that brief period in 2004.

Is this a thing that could actually happen though? I haven't heard that Schumer has plans to step down and Warren isn't in the leadership pipeline.
I got to go to a Harris event as my first primary event and while I loved what she was saying, it felt...robotic? Not at all "too polished," more like "I have been on the campaign trail and man am I exhausted and tired of saying the same things." Which inspired me, because he message was great, but didn't give me the "warm and fuzzys," which is fine.
I really am getting so sick of people bashing her for "locking up families of truant kids" or her lack of progressive work. I do think she has some issues that make me cringe (again, just on the surface--I really do not understand law and policy enough to know in depth detail), but to me, she was working within a system rigged that way. She took what she learned and experienced and has been using it to make changes to said system. I think her experience is incredible.
I am going to see Warren this week and I am looking forward to seeing her persona too. I really like both of them and think they both have incredible backgrounds and skills and plans. Both would be wonderful presidents that I would absolutely be proud of.

Probably not - I haven't heard that Schumer is planning to step down either. She's a Vice Chair, though, so it's not entirely out of left field.
...especially not in a world where I'm dreaming of Harris as President, Pelosi as Speaker-for-now, and Warren as Majority Leader, haha.
I think it would be cool to do a poll of who are your least favorites. Though it'd be so hard, because do I hate Klobuchar or Biden more? And how to pick just three?! Hmmm.

What's to hate about Klobuchar? I mean, she's vanilla and boring so I understand not being a favorite, but there's nothing particularly objectionable about her.
