In one of his last official acts before his death, the late House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings signed two subpoenas for documents related to a temporary end to a policy change that allowed some immigrants with severe health issues to remain in the US.
Hours before his passing, staffers drove the subpoenas to Baltimore for Cummings' signature, said a Democratic committee aide.

And that, my friends, is what a patriot and amazing human being does. He will go down in history as a shining star in our current darkness. He could have easily spent that time connecting to his family and no one would call him selfish..but he chose to put his country first. We have a lot to live up to.
The late U.S. Representative Elijah Cummings, one of a handful of Democrats leading an impeachment investigation into President Donald Trump, will be honored in the U.S. Capitol on Thursday when a coffin carrying his remains will lie in state in the National Statuary Hall.
Hillary Clinton on Elijah Cummings: "He also prayed and worked for healing. He weathered storms and earthquakes, but never lost his faith. Like that Old Testament prophet, he stood against corrupt leadership of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel."
I'll have to see if I can find and clip the video but one of his brothers totally smoked McConnell at the reception line. Went from hugging and shaking hands to totally bypassing McConnell and continuing on. Got to Schumer and shook his hand and when McConnell put his hand out he totally turned past him to shake the hand of the person next to him (I think it was Pelosi), causing McConnell to drop his hand. It was done so beautifully I had to watch it two or three times to catch it. (I saw the video on FB because I'm old and still hang out there.)
Here's a link to the FB post (if it works like that, lol.) It's so worth watching. "I think he did not shake...shake, shake, shake (as he was going down the line)...huuuuh! Did not shake! his hand..." Her gasp makes me chuckle every time. www.facebook.com/jerelle75/videos/10157989764991614/
