The IKEA store initiated the request for someone to assemble my closet system. They apparently put in the wrong address for me, so the first tasker cancelled since he was in the wrong state. I've tried to cancel the task, but it keeps saying "unable to cancel" and then it gets reassigned. The second person who accepted the task subsequently cancelled it without explanation, and now it's been assigned to a third person. It took a lot of googling to find their customer service number, and when you call it, it just says "Due to high volume we are not accepting calls at this time." Is this a typical experience or do I just have bad luck?

I don’t know about the task rabbit part, but in my experience IKEA customer service is awful, and it’s very difficult to reach a human. I am also unsurprised that they entered your information incorrectly.

Yeah, my experience was pretty awful. The guy in the closet section seemed to have no idea about the products...I had to tell him the closet system came in two different depths. Plus you have to order in person at the store and if even one piece is out of stock you can’t place the order.
I had just broken my arm when we moved back into our house after we renovated and I used Task Rabbit a LOT. They were a lifesaver and I never had an issue with them. I also used them through Ikea to put together my Pax closet. It would have been so much more expensive had I hired a task rabbit person separately. That said, I've never had to call their customer service, so I don't know if that's typical.

Thanks! I was able to verify that the first "tasker" really did get the wrong city/state in his request, so that was on the IKEA guy who typed it in. I'm frustrated by the inability to cancel and to reach customer service, but supposedly someone new is coming this evening to assemble it so I'll keep you posted! It's good to know that booking through IKEA is cheaper than doing it otherwise, although I think in the end I canceled my initial request and booked a new one through the website to get the address right, so for me I think it was the same.
