We're buying a new house that needs be almost fully repainted (interior). I should just hire a designer to do a color consultation but every time I look into it, I cheap out.
SO, will you all give me some inspiration? Pics a plus! It's on the water, so I am hoping for a "sophisticated coastal" palette overall, but it doesn't need to be all blues and greens or anything.
For a less expensive option, you could look into a color consultant from a local paint store. We did one through Sherwin Williams. I think it cost $95 but you got a $50 coupon to use at the store. Our local BM store had someone too that was just a little more expensive but still affordable.
I ended up not totally in love with our living room color, but I still think it was worth it because it feels coordinated and lessened my stress a lot during the process. We had done a large renovation and needed colors for open first floor, master, bathroom, and I had her pick a color for new kid room too while she was at it.
I love our upstairs colors. I think our master is comfort grey, and master bath is sea salt which are both greenish.

Oh, thank you for reminding me - I did reach out to Farrow & Ball to schedule a color consult and I totally forgot to call them back. But I'm not sold on using F&B colors, so I need to think about that a bit more.
I've had my eye on Sea Salt (or maybe Sea Spray?) but I've heard it can look minty in some rooms and I really want to avoid that. Colors are so hard!
dr.girlfriend , it didn't even occur to me to search for pre-selected palettes, that's a great idea. I think that's the hard part for me about needing to paint an entire house. I could handle selecting colors for one or two rooms in isolation, but also thinking about how they flow together through many rooms is overwhelming.
I REALLY like all of the colors that you chose - beautiful! Pale Oak is especially pretty.
BM ozark shadows (my whole house is basically this color strip) BM pine lands BM stone hearth BM mozart blue (I think that was the name) SW Agreeable Gray SW Quietude
Also just used SW Oyster Bay that I think I will really like. Too soon to tell on Sea Salt as it's a north facing room and we dont have lights installed yet.
FWIW, I used to think rooms needed to be different colors, but I'm kind of glad we had one "house" color when we built. I'm pretty sure it's SW Everyday Gray or something like that. It's a true gray that doesn't read blue, pink, or green.
I've painted an accent wall in E's room and the laundry ropom is teal, but I like that the big spaces are all the same color. I do want to do trim and a blue in the powder room, but that's about it.

Yep, it's very handy!

Weird. Something went wrong with the embed to Pinterest, but I basically searched "coastal palette" and a bunch of stuff came up!

I did blues, greys and yellows as my theme for my last house and I think it worked well as I could use similar colours for other items in the house (couch, cabinets, etc). Not sure what we'll do with our next house, but I'm guessing we'll do something more subdued - pale greys, pale blues and creams.
None of these pics are my house because I don't have good ones handy, but they are colors I have in my house and like. I tried to pick photos that look true to my experience.
SW Quietude (in our full bath)
SW Sea Salt (in our living room/dining room)
SW Interesting Aqua - was once in our powder room, is now in my son's room
SW Blue Peacock - I have this in our powder room, above white wainscoting. It's probably my boldest choice (next to my purple front door) but actually I love both of those choices.

This. Our old house was more colorful but this house is mostly SW Mindful gray and I love it. We have a few accent rooms (master bedroom, guest bath and ds1s room and a painted accent line in the laundry room) but everything else is the same. The grays definitely look different depending on the room/lighting/time of day so while the whole house is the same it doesn’t necessarily always look like it.
sandandsea, most of our house is Mindful Gray, too...with a few places a shade or two darker on the same card.
My favorite paint color I’ve ever used is SW Charcoal Blue. For people who don’t see color well, it looks navy. For those who see color well, it reads a little purple. I get a lot of compliments on it! It’s probably too dark for what you’re looking for, though.
