Tuesday we had our patio poured...all 11 yards of concrete. It's huge! We also had doors hung (minus the barn door for the closet). Floor trim is mostly up, and windows are done. Unfortunately I didn't say anything in advance nor did the contractor ask about trim. The baseboard isnt a huge deal, but the windows irritatingly dont match the rest of the house (which he did a few years ago!). But it involves changing the bottom casing which would be a PITA. We also had our septic drainfield pushed back in, so now my yard is just a flat muddy mess.
Next week they are going to start on construction of the patio roof, and electrician is coming Tuesday. He is lobbying to get paint here for touch up on Wednesday, so we will see.
Most frustrating is we got the water quality results from our well. High in iron, and high in arsenic. Arsenic isn't really a thing in our particular area, so this is extremely frustrating and very expensive to fix. Never mind that we just finished our new pump house, plumbing etc. I'll talk to a couple of people this week and hope someone has positive news.
I think we are gonna fix the windows. They'll have to entirely redo all of the casing and trim on the five windows, but I think it will forever bother me if we dont. Contractor acknowledged it was his fault. His poor employee isnt having a good day between that and the installation of the barn door!
The PT posts for the patio are heinous, so we have to order appearance grade at twice the cost. Most importantly they won't be here until Friday which sucks.
On the positive note, I talked to a well guy who thinks we can remove the iron only which should eliminate the arsenic for $2300 installed which would make him my hero!
hamster, that would be amazing regarding the arsenic/iron thing. Sorry to hear the PT posts are bad and that you are having to replace all the casing and trim, but I guess better now than later!
