Well that makes me feel better. I am VERY out of shape but it is good to know that class wasn’t supposed to be a cakewalk. The leaderboard motivated me more than I thought it would. I never even cracked the top half of the 1100 people in the class, but I wasn’t at the bottom and I call that a victory for my first ride!
Is it actually beneficial to do the beginner and “mastering the basics” collections? Or can I just go through and pick beginners classes based on music until I feel like I can pick harder ones?

knx9211 If you haven't done much spin before, maybe it would be helpful. I had done some spin classes for a year prior to the Peloton so I skipped those collections. Plus, I knew what instructors I liked so I basically searched their classes and just bookmarked the ones where I liked the playlist.
I get competitive on the leaderboard, esp when it's a live class or I'm riding with others. So fun.
Sorry to bump. How do you know which classes tell you on the screen what resistance and cadence you should be at? I've now done a handful of classes and 2 of them didn't have the markings on the screen. I think I prefer the markings.
Also---I think I may need to size up on my shoes. I'm taking them into the store this afternoon. Hopefully they will exchange them. I'm normally an 8.5 or 9 and I got the 9, but the right shoe is pretty damn snug. 10 seems extreme, but I may need it,

In my (very) limited experience, only the newer ones seem to show that. I did a Cody class from 2017 yesterday and the markings weren’t there.
Also I’m on a four day streak. I’m not feeling great today but hoping to get a quick one in. I’ve never worked out 5 days straight in my life... or even 4, I think!

I got mine for Christmas last year. They started adding metrics on the screen maybe a few months later? So most rides from 2019 should have them - earlier don’t.
FYI - the greatest showman ride and Hamilton ride are two of my favorites. A few years old but still fun!
Everyone please cross your fingers that my kids cooperate (95% chance they won’t) so I can take Alex’s live class at 12:30.

Yeah! I'd like that! I haven't done a live one yet because usually I work out once the house is quiet and that happens at varying times.
Same. I did one when DH was home Sunday and then DD cooperated by waking me up at 530 and being done with nursing at 550 so I could hop on a 6am. During the week, 6am and somewhere in the noon-1pm hours are my only viable options for riding.

Woof my legs and lungs can’t take 45 minutes yet but I’m definitely going to bookmark this one! I haven’t taken one with Alex yet and really want to. If I can’t get on live at 1230 I’ll just pick one on demand

Yeah--I mean I was hesitant at first because of the price and because there are a lot of ways to get the same results with a cheaper bike, but at the end of the day I realized I can afford it and it makes sense in my life at the moment so I went for it.
Also--my mom pointed out that most of my hesitation was because this was a purchase for me and not my kids, dog, or H and she was....not wrong. So then I cried and bought it. LOL
