H wants a specific dutch oven for Christmas, the 7.25 qt. Le Creuset that America's Test Kitchen has deemed the best of the best. It's pretty consistently priced at about $385. I know Staub and some of the others would work fine, but it's what he wants. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Le Creuset is excluded from BBB 20% coupons, so that's out. Are there any retailers that I should watch for sales that will include Le Creuset over the next couple weeks? Right now Williams Sonoma has the purple and yellow on sale, but those are not on the list of colors H wanted.
I saw this on the general discussions list and wanted to chime in. I've gotten some great deals on Le Creuset pieces at independent kitchen stores over the years. I think you can also order from their outlet stores online.

Ditto the outlet rec. Other than that - I asked my in laws for one years ago and they bought it at a retail price of over $400 (I felt bad...DH and I were like married for a minute).
Also, PDQ, I've literally never used the one they bought me

Certain colors are only at certain stores. My Le Creuset is the color ocean, which is only at WS. Some colors are only at Crate and Barrel. Other colors are sold everywhere.

Personally I love the Sea Salt that's at Sur La Table, but he wants any of the neutral ones that have a white interior, so you can see browning easier. Any of the oyster gray, french gray, or similar will be fine. Fortunately those are pretty widely available.

My Marshalls often has 10 at once but sizes and colors vary. And then sometimes they have none. The dutch ovens are usually about 200/225 so a pretty significant savibgs. I'm pretty certain mine came from a Marshalls or TJ Maxx. It was a wedding gift from my dad. I use it 5 times a week. That and my no name cast iron skillet are my desert island kitchen picks.

I wanted the purple, so thank you for that. Now I need to talk myself into spending the money. Definitely check marshalls/home goods/TJ maxx. I see a lot of them this time of year. The outlets have a lot as well. Hopefully there’ll be some cyber Monday deals too.

Def the outlet. It’s been awhile since I’ve been in one but they usually have a color of the month and then true seconds in the back.
WS will run special pricing and sometimes include them in the 20% coupons.
I inherited my grandmothers LC Dutch oven and after 50+ years it started putting, so they replaced it (for a fee since I wasn’t the original purchaser, but a fraction of what a new one would cost). So that’s to say they are definitely worth the money.

May I ask about the pitting and replacement process? I have my parents which is from the 1970’s (It’s ugly yellow/orange)
Call the outlet! Also take a look at your local Marshall's / TJ Maxx locations. I see them whenever I've been there hunting for a specific kitchen item. I live right out of NYC and my sister says our Marshall's / TJM locations seem to be saturated with LC vs. where she lives. So it may be regional. (We also have a fair amount of LC at Homegoods locally, too.)
One other suggestion, check Amazon Warehouse. They sell new items that just have damaged packaging for better discounts than I’ve seen at the outlet or via the WS sales.
Otherwise, the random WS sales are the best deals I’ve seen.

I've been contemplating getting one myself, and WS has been doing two colors on sale for 20% off for the past couple of weeks -- and they are changing the sale colors every so often. So keep an eye on their site, the neutral ones may go into the rotation.
No info on sales, but I have a smaller LC Dutch oven and it’s amazing. It has lasted through several military moves, more than one marriage, my five year old....I’m sure other cast iron/enameled Dutch ovens are just as nice, but it’s truly the beat piece of kitchen equipment that I own and has been worth every penny. It will easily outlast me.

You didn't ask me but mine was replaced about a year ago. After 10 years of very regular use I noticed a tiny half moon fleck of lining missing. I called their customer service number and they started a claim. I had to pay to send it to them which was about $20. I included a letter explaining what happened abd with the claim number I'dbeen given. Basically if the pan is found to be damaged and it's not your fault, they send a free replacement from current stock and attempt to match the color but no guarantee. If they claim the damage it was due to abuse or something intentional, they send a voucher for a huge discount for replacement (50% or something. I forget but I was surprised by the amount). I was nervous because it was a gift and I had no receipt and I had no recourse if they didn't replace it but they sent back a brand new one a couple weeks later.

I called the customer service number to start the claim. This was about 6 years ago, but I think it was $100 for the big round one. It was a limited color selection but I was able to get something other than the flame color.
I found a gray one on Nordstrom Rack for $308 (20% off). I think I'm going to buy it, because we have a Nordstrom Rack nearby that I can return to, if I find a materially better deal elsewhere.

Now you have me eyeing that, I love the color and think I even have a $50 GC for Macy’s around here somewhere...
Following up -- I got my dutch oven! Didn't have any color choices, but got it in meringue which is totally fine with me. Calvin just wanted one that was light interior. I have a relative who lives near an outlet, who picked it up for me. The deal was phenomenal -- Reg retail price is $385, outlet was $270, and then it was 30% off for a final price of $189 for the 7.25 qt.
Sur la Table has some Le Creuset pieces on sale, along with other items. I think I’m going to buy a Henckels paring knife since I broke my Calphalon paring knife in an avocado pit last night.
