I’m off today because I worked yesterday. Currently at home dyeing my roots. I lied I don’t use Clairol. It’s L’Oreal Magic Root Rescue and it only takes 10 minutes 15 for stubborn grays. I feel like hair dye goes on dark, so I do dark blonde which I am not blonde and that comes out light to medium brown.
Chiropractor later. Still battling my cold.
My week sucks because I have something going on after work every day but Friday. Hopefully DH can do some of it. Dance, Girl Scouts, Basketball and Dentist.
My house is decorated and looks so nice!!!! I really just wanted to stay in and watch movies today. At least next week is a short week.
Super busy week here. I have a presentation tomorrow night at 6PM, Many meetings this week including one set up with me with the county judge for a reason I am not really clear. I have my service project taking 25 kids to a nursing home Friday, so that could always go weird. I have heard there is a lead on the new position posted and they are supposed to be good and we may be able to bump up the classification to a higher grade, all good news.
On the downside, a former coworker was diagnosed with leukemia. She just retired two months ago, so not even a chance to enjoy some time.
Do you ever have a day that every thing you try to accomplish is made infinitely more difficult by others? That is today for me.
It started yesterday late afternoon. A weekend of chores under my belt, I settled in to watch some football, when DD1 announced that she got paintball over her jacket, and that I had to wash it immediately. Ok... throw it in the wash. Do not check the pockets. DH tosses it in the dryer, and it finishes before we go to bed. I figure I will just grab it in the morning.
Grabbed it - she’d left a full pack of gum in the pocket. 👍
Then she insisted on wearing these silly purple rain boots to school. She wears a uniform, must have black shoes, insisted on carrying them separately. Left them at home. Screamed at me for 1. Letting her wear the boots, 2. Not reminding her enough to grab her shoes, and 3. Not taking an extra hour out of my day to make an extra round-trip to her school with said shoes.
THEN I came home and stripped DD2’s bed. I threw her sheets in the basement laundry, not knowing that DH had PLUGGED THE SINK where the washer drains. He didn’t tell me, and why the F would I ask or check? Flooded the basement. He can’t clean it up because he has to go to a meeting.
I posted how last night we thought we had a slab leak. Good news is no, not a slab leak. Bad news is DS determined our downstairs hot water heater is leaking and our under-stair storage was pretty much flooded. More good news (considering mold is growing) is we got the extra mold insurance so we will only be out the cost of the hot water heater and the deductible, which is (the bad news) like $3700. But at least we have some brackets around the max cost.
Also this means my desire to get hardwood floors is about to be fulfilled because wet carpet. Lots of nasty wet carpet.
In non-water news, I’m at the eye doc with DS who may need glasses.
I sound terrible like straight up like my throat is dying or something. Just purged a bag of stuff to take to goodwill. Why do some people insist you take their old junk instead of donating it? My co-worker used to do this occasionally my mom. I get tired of saying no all the time but then I always hate it and end up donating it anyway. Co-worker moved away thankfully (for other reasons) over 1.5 years ago and I’m still getting rid of her stuff.
I'm home with a sick kid, No voice, headache, whining and very needed Hopefully going to log in and do some WFH for a few hours soon as I have about 10 payrolls this week. Luckily they are easy ones.
mommyatty that's no fun but WAY better than a slab leak situation! That's one of my worst house-related fears.
The boys and I had a good weekend while DH and DD camped. It was nice to change the kid dynamic, and the boys played really well together. So well that I was able to give myself a mani-pedi while they played on Friday night. I've never been able to accomplish something like that before while they were both awake. DS1 (kindergarten) had a soccer game Saturday and then a tournament yesterday, in 80 degree weather (really hot for here) with no subs. So he passed out face down in bed last night, with his feet hanging off the bed. I had friends over for dinner Saturday and made pumpkin turkey chili. DH can be kind of anti-social, so it was nice to not have to get him on board with hosting a dinner party, since he was away.
Add me to the list of a crazy week this week. I think everyone is trying to get things done before the holiday week. DH and I are going on vacation with another couple (to Fiji!) the Sunday night after Thanksgiving, so I have a ton of stuff to wrap up at work this week. Plus I'm out of the office all day at meetings tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday. At least Thursday is the only one I have to get on a plane to go to. After we get back from Fiji, we leave exactly two weeks later to go to the East coast for Christmas. So my head is already spinning with everything I need to get done between now and Christmas.

I used to get excited when people offered us hand me down clothes. And now I dread it. Because there is usually a couple of things in good condition that I save, and the rest ends up either thrown away or sitting in my garage until I'm ready to make a goodwill run.
I love handing down kid's clothes, but the majority of stuff either gets trashed or donated. I only hand down stuff that's still in great condition aka usually the stuff that I thought was great when I bought it and my kids didn't like and rarely wore. (The only exception is Tea dresses. DD lived in some of those things for over a year and they still look good on the next kid in line)
My sister gives me all her boys clothes which is great and saves me so much money. Kid clothes are kind of the exception. I try to only give my best but it’s an extra layer of work so most thing just go in our “too small bin” and get donated.
My sister never sorts them, so I get 2 sizes too small or she packs them full of jeans which DS won’t wear. I have to go through them immediately and sort them again and donate to Good Will. I’m hoping my mom has at least told her no more jeans. My mom frequently transports them and helps us sort them in both sides so that’s why she is involved. Some I have to trash as well. I don’t get why people don’t sort them better, well except that it takes a lot of time.

I took Friday, today, and Tuesday off because I need it mentally. And I need some time to work on some things around the house, run errands, go to appointments and do other adult things (like work with our insurance agency on a new quote) that have been neglected.
Weekend was good. DH and DS went hunting on our land (about 1.5 hours north) Friday - Sunday. No luck, and they didn't even see any deer, but still had a good time and got to spend some time with DH's grandpa, who went too. DD and I went to a party for the big college football rivalry and then DD's friend came over afterwards for a few hours.
I applied for a job last Thursday evening and got a "no thank you" email today, so that was kind of a bummer. At least my resume is updated, but now I'm wondering if I pay $150 or so to have a professional resume writer make it better. Any thoughts?
