You guys know my recent awesome hot water heater mess. It’s seriously spurred DH to want to replace our carpet with hardwood-looking floors. We don’t want actual hardwood because it’s too fussy. We are thinking either the tile that looks like wood or Pergo.
Our house has a lot of wood in it. The kitchen cabinets are a pretty oak. The lower half of the walls in the family room are wood. In our formal living room, you can see the staircase, which has an oak railing. We may paint the kitchen cabinets white. But we aren’t sure. We have a light beige large tile in the kitchen that we like. So thought is to leave the tile but put wood everywhere else downstairs.
What color wood floors do you have that you love? And how important is it to match the kitchen cabinets if we don’t paint them? Or maybe you should try to not match? I dunno.
Our are a darker stain, and I do like them. But we have tile in the kitchen so the matching of the cabinets was a moot point for us. They are slightly darker, but not by much than our trim.
We have the wood tile in the kichen. They are dark with a little lighter grain running through. My cabinets are a light oak. It looks great with the dark floors. We actually brought home about 20 samples. Some of the ones I thought I would love, made the cabinets look orange.
I think we will keep the tile in the kitchen, but our rooms are all interconnected, so you will see the wood floors from the kitchen and the kitchen cabinets from the family room and dining room.

We have these and I love them. We put them everwhere except kitchen and bath. We have a boring coordinating tile on the kitchen that was already there.
ETA. They don’t match our kitchen cabinets (dark cherry) but I didn’t want dark floors and wanted and open and airy feel.

I would have two different floors too. We couldn’t do wood in the kitchen because we would ruin it in a heartbeat. It works for others but I know we wouldn’t be careful enough with two little kids.

We have gray tile "wood" floors and I love them! It's probably a bit trendy, but I did some soul searching and it's a trend I like. My only concern is that we didn't do the whole downstairs when we did it, and so now if we change more carpet to tile I'm afraid I won't be able to find that tile again.
A friend recently got tile and she specifically looked at the most common/popular tiles. Of the top 3 she picked her personal favorite. My friend is wise.
My parents did a light maple at their old house and I loved it. They took great care of the floors, and they held up well.
We put dark wood tile in DH’s office. We’ve had water in the basement a couple of times during storms, so we didn’t want wood or carpet in there. I didn’t think I’d like it, but I really do.
We have a light oak in the kitchen dinning area that is covered in floor rugs. I like the flooring and DH wants to move it to the rest of the house but we did it pre-DD so of course that color isn't made by the same manufacturer.
We got vinyl plank in our office after the last giant flood. It is supposed to hold up to water problems really well. Only issue we have is that is dents/get gouges really easy. It looks like a wood floor but isn't. We also find it is a pain in the butt to keep clean.

My landlord is a builder and put gray high end laminate in my rental. I really like it and it seems durable. I had a light hardwood in the house I sold and I hated it. It often looked faded and any bit of water left would ruin it in spots. It was not good in the kitchen. It matched the cabinets and made the kitchen look too monotone.
I currently have hardwood in the kitchen and I hate it. In addition to every day drips and spills that can damage the floor, we have water damage from a leaking water line to the fridge and a dishwasher gasket leak. Those things leak and you usually don't know about it until it's too late. I would avoid putting hardwoods into an area that is likely to have exposure to water. (Disclaimer: I think I commented on this on the H&G board and there were a LOT of people who disagree with me.)
We're putting in wood tile in the bathroom.. hopefully today. I hope that I love it.
