186momx, I bought tea tree oil in the natural foods section at Fred Meyer and added a few drops to my regular shampoo. That might be a better option if you don't like the tea tree oil shampoo.
186momx, we also have lice going around. DD is getting braids and sprayed down with the spray they sold us last time. So far, so good. She's sick of me asking her random questions like "Do we EVER put someone else's hat on? Do we EVER use someone's sweatshirt? Do we EVER use anyone's headbands??

I have another vent. I'm irritated that DH's pay so far in 2019 has surpassed the social security annual tax limit, but because he changed employers in May, we won't see that money until we do our taxes. It has been really nice the last few years for him to get a few hundred dollars more a month around the holidays, and I definitely miss it this year. (And especially this year, since I just paid $1500 for routine maintenance and new tires for my car.)
186momx my sister is totally hippy dippy and adamantly swore that we needed to just apply essential oils to the kids to prevent lice. I was very adamant that NO, we need real lice treatment. Only to have the lice lady come out comb/treat to remove the lice and nits and sell us a mixture of... essential oils. Ours is a blend of tea tree, eucalyptus, lavender, and lemon grass.
She also spent 20 years as a kinder teacher, so I'm not sure why I wasn't listening to someone in the trenches.
waverly you are so funny! I like your advice! I need more of your toughness
I think my mom and sister have the kind of relationship where we can be direct. We also have the kind of relationship where we would never dream of living with each other. Both our DH's dislike each other for one. But, we probably aren't nearly as close as you and your sister are. We are VERY different, and always have been with not a lot of common beliefs and interests, but I know we will always be there for each other. Good luck with your situation.

I made that blend of essential oils last year when we battled lice right before winter break. The tea tree shampoo we have makes both DD's and my hair very straw/waxy feeling so it is hard to brush and tangles really easy.
We weren't home last night so no time to dig out all the lice stuff I had finally put away. Will be doing that for sure and braiding DD's hair into little braids after her shower tonight. We have no practice so I have a whole extra 3+ hours today
I am basically spending my day remotely parenting. Spend the morning texting DS about his grades and make up work and then trying to gauge whether or not he should come home sick. Go check him out at lunch. Now I am at may desk trying to assess which of he ointments will work best because DD had a bloody nose. Apparently the school nurse does not have Neosporin? So I guess we will go with the Vaseline. Plus DD is giving me periodic weather updates during the breaks because somebody told her we were going to have a tornado tonight. She has declared she is sleeping in the basement.
DH is off today, but I guess no one wants to talk to him.
